SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Wear oil resistant gloves when handling diesel fuel and always wash your hands with soap and water afterwards. Wipe up any spilt fuel to reduce the risk of slipping and pollution. Be careful with the surfaces nearest the controls. Wear suitable clothing, and ideally a breathing mask when cleaning. Always use personal safety equipment. Never touch moving parts.
  • The product is only intended to transfer diesel fuel from storage tanks, containers and drums.
  • The product must under no circumstances be used for any other liquids, such as petrol, alcohol or other flammable or explosive liquids, or corrosive (or flammable) fodder or liquid food.
  • The product must not be used in explosive environments. Do not use the product in enclosed spaces where petrol, LPG or methane powered vehicles or machines are stored.
  • The product must be supplied with power via a residual current device with a tripping current of 30 mA.
  • Do not remove or replace the supplied earthed plug.
  • A fire extinguisher (powder or carbon dioxide) should be placed near the product and used in the event of a fire
    • never attempt to extinguish with water. Burning plastic and paint can emit toxic fumes. Follow local fire and health regulations (consult safety representative).
  • This product can be used by children from 8 years and upwards and by persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities, or persons who lack experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or receive  instructionsconcerning the safe use of the product and understand the risks involved with its use. Do not allow children to play with the product. Do not allow children to clean or maintain the product without supervision.
  • Check that the amount of fuel in the suction tank is greater than the amount to be pumped.
  • Check that the tank to be filled holds the volume to be pumped.
  • Never run the pump when dry as this could seriously damage the pump’s component parts.
  • Check that hoses and couplings are in perfect condition. Discharges of diesel fuel can seriously damage the environment and human health.
  • Never touch the pump if you are barefoot, have wet hands, or if your body is wet.
  • Prolonged skin contact with diesel fuel can cause injuries. Always wear gloves and safety glasses.
  • Make sure the pump ts switched off before any maintenance is done on it
  • Do not move the pump when it is running.
  • The electrical connector on the pump must not come into contact with water or other liquid.
  • Do not use the pump to pump:
    • salt water, dirty water, water that contains _ solids, sand or abrasive particles.
    • water or other liquids at temperatures of over 90°C.
    • food.
    • explosive, flammable or dangerous liquids.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT:

Read the safety instructions before installation.

  1. Place the packaging on the ground as shown by the markings.
  2. Open the packaging carefully, lift out the diesel pump and put it on the ground or a stable bench.
  3. Check that the diesel pump and its accessories have not been damaged in transit, and remove the transport protection from the motor pump and flow meter.
  4. Fasten the bracket and put the diesel pump on the ground or a stable surface that can support the weight of the product in a ventilated area with good lighting and a temperature of between -30 to +40°C. For best functionality the product should be placed at or near the same level as the surface of the liquid in the fuel container from which the transfer is to take place (the maximum difference in height is four metres).
  5. Screw the outlet hose in the outlet flange on the flow meter and in the pistol valve.

NOTE:

The suction hose should be resistant to diesel fuel, with spiral reinforcement and an inner diameter of 25 mm (same as the inlet sleeve coupling). The suction hose needs to fit tightly, there must be no leakage of fuel.
If the suction hose is longer than 4 metres the free end should be provided with an inlet valve and filter. The same applies to the outlet hose.

USE

IMPORTANT:

Read all the safety instructions and warnings before use.

INFLATION

Check before starting the pump that:

  • all hoses are fitted and tight
  • the plug is plugged into a power source with a residual current device (maximum tripping current 30 mA).
  • the pistol valve is in park mode
  1. Put the end of the inlet hose in the storage tank.
  2. Put the pistol valve in the refilling hole in the tank or the vehicle to be filled, and slowly press the pistol valve trigger. The fuel now starts to be pumped.
  3. Release the pistol valve trigger and switch off the pump.
  4. Unplug the plug from the power point when the pump is not in use.

WARNING!

  • The pistol valve has a hook-up trigger to simplify the transfer of fuel. Do not, however, leave the pistol valve unattended during the transfer of fuel with a hooked-up trigger — risk of overfilling and fuel spillage.
  • Donot let the pump to continue to run if the storage tank is empty.
  • Donot start the pump before the inlet and outlet hoses are connected.
  • Switch off the pump as soon as the the pistol valve trigger has been released.
  • Never use the pump with wet hands, barefoot or standing in water — risk of electric shock.
  • Inthe event of a power cut switch off the pump and pull out the plug to avoid unintentional starting and overfilling when the power is restored.
  • When transferring fuel from ventilated storage tanks the product should be placed as far away as possible from the storage tank to minimise the risk of splashing fuel and sudden variations in pressure that can cause serious damage.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING!

Switch off the product, pull out the plug and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before emptying the pump and flow meter, and before maintenance.

The flow meter filter should be checked for impurities and clogging every three months.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Symptom Possible cause Proposed action
The pump will not run Seized or blocked shaft Pull out the plug, dismantle

the pump housing and clean the inside. Check that the pump shaft rotates freely. Refit the pump.
No power supply| Check that the plug is correctly plugged in and that the power point is supplied with voltage.
The pump runs, but delivers no fuel.| The pump sucks in air through leakage in the inlet hose.| Check that the inlet hose fits tightly to the pump. Check that the end of the hose is fully inserted into the fuel and that it is not creased or clenched. Check that the filter is  clean and not clogged up.
Note that the pump has a maximum suction height of 4 m.
Pockets of air in the pump.| Undo the vent screw while the pump is running the valve and let the air out.
The pump is working, but the flow meter gives an incorrect reading, or no reading at all| Impurities in the flow meter chamber| Pull out the plug. Dismantle, with the help of the exploded view of the flow meter, the front plate and fixture. Open the chamber and carefully clean the rotor disc. Refit.
