Tips for Grilling Perfect Panini
- Use good quality bread.
- Use a combination of ingredients for the filling but don’t make the sandwich overly complex. Three to four ingredients is ideal for letting individual flavors shine through.
- Try to select one ingredient that will help bind the sandwich together. Cheese is a good choice because as it melts, it gets sticky. Garlic mayonnaise, olive tapenade, or even barbecue sauce can achieve a similar effect.
- Do not overstuff the Panini or the exterior will cook before the interior has a chance to.
- Once assembled, brush both sides of the sandwich lightly with olive oil.
- Preheat the grill until the Ready light comes on.
- When the grill is hot, brush it lightly with olive oil. Place the sandwich in the grill and close the lid. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
Panini with Goat’s Cheese
For a panini you need:
- 1 panini bread
- 2 tablespoons of green pesto
- 2 slices of goat’s cheese
- 1 courgetti
- 1 spring onion sliced in rings
- a few black olives in thin slices
Slice with a cheese slicer three thin courgetti slices lengthwise. Cut the
crust of the goat’s cheese. Cut the panini bread lengthwise and smear the two
halves with the pesto.
Cover one half with a slice of courgetti and a slice of cheese. Spread half of
the spring onions and the olives over it. Again place a slice of courgetti and
cheese on top. Spread the remaining of the spring onion and the olives and put
the other half of the bread on top.
Place the panini on the bottom grill-plate and close the lid. Grill the panini
golden brown.
Also Try the Next Panini’s
- Ham, semi matured cheese, basilicum pesto and spring onion.
- Smoked salmon, goat’s cheese, tomatoes, spring onion, fresh basilicum, green pesto and salt and pepper to taste.
- Chicken, pineapple, paprika or curry.
- Tuna, tomato, onion and cheese.
