Fully dimmable and low-voltage safe, the RigidStrip Linkable LED Light is an
attractive, professional grade light fi xture that is nearly as versatile as
LED tape lighting. Perfect for any area where a complete fixture look is
required. The focused, 60-degree beam angle directs light down toward your
intended surface, and away from eyes.
Connections and Installation
Measure your intended installation space and round down to the nearest whole foot to determine the number of RigidStrips you need. Only 8 RigidStrips can be connected in a single leg, but the number of legs you have is limited only by the wattage of your 12-volt power supply.
Use only with low-voltage
12-volt DC constant voltage power supplies.
Never connect RigidStrip linkable lights directly to 120-volt household
power
Use the chart below to determine wattage consumption for each leg.
Add this fi gure for all lighting legs to determine total system wattage.
Approximate watts used at full brightness
Pieces | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Watts used | 2.5 | 4.9 | 7.6 | 10 | 12.5 | 14.4 | 16.1 | 17.6 |
Do not exceed 8 RigidStrips in one leg.
Before installation of your RigidStrip Linkable LED Light, consider your
placement options. See sidebar.
Plan out your RigidStrip installation by marking a straight line on your
mounting surface. Mark at 6-inch intervals for the surface mount clips.
Install the clips using the double-sided adhesive or the included
screws.
Placement options for RigidStrip Linkable Lights
For maximum light output, mount the light towards the front of the
cabinet with LEDs facing down. To focus light on the work surface and also
light your backsplash, position the RigidStrip an inch or two back from the
front of the cabinet. The refined fixture appearance make RigidStrips perfect
for flatbottomed shelves or cabinets. If your mounting surface has a front
lip, consider installing the RigidStrip Light on the inside back of the lip
with the LEDs facing towards your backsplash.
This method provides a different illumination effect. RigidStrip installed
through a slot sawed into cabinet divider.RigidStrips join end-to-end with the integrated linking connector.
Remove the included end cap and gently insert the protruding connector of the
next light into the place the end cap was. The connector is designed to insert
one way only, be sure the LEDs are
facing the same direction. After connecting together any adjacent
RigidStrip sections, use gentle pressure to snap them into the surface mount
clips.
Note: If connecting 3 or more RigidStrips in a row, it may be necessary
to first install the lights into the clips, then slide them together to
complete the connection.Use the 2-in. Jumper Connector to connect
two RigidStrips at an angle, or around a corner. Splice in additional wire to
extend the connector and bridge larger gaps and turns in your lighting
layout.Be sure all wire splice connections are
secure and sealed. Options include soldering, electrical tape, crimp
connectors, terminal blocks, wire nuts, etc.Complete your installation by applying power with a 60-in. Power
Lead Connector. Hook up a Power Lead Connector to the fi rst light in each leg.
Be sure polarity is properly connected to your power supply and power on to
test.
Troubleshooting
RigidStrip does not light
- Make sure your LED power supply is receiving 120-volt power.
- Confirm you have maintained correct polarity (+ to + and – to –) when joining RigidStrips to the 12-volt power supply.
- Check all connections and any switch or dimmer connections from the power supply to the LED tape light. Consider testing with a multimeter to ensure your RigidStrip is receiving 12-volt power.
Only part of the RigidStrip array is lit
- Check connections at the part where the RigidStrips transfer from lit to unlit.
- Confirm that your strips are facing the same direction and the connectors are pushed together tightly.
RigidStrip blinks on and off
- Your power supply is not adequate for the amount of RigidStrips you are powering. Install a higher wattage power supply or reduce watts used by removing RigidStrip sections.
- LEDs farthest from the power supply are noticeably dimmer
- This is the result of voltage drop. Decrease the length of the 12-volt power feed wires or use thicker power feed wires between the 12-volt power supply and the tape lighting.
- Do not exceed 8 sections in one leg of lighting. Consider separating your lighting into multiple, smaller legs.
