Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance.
You have selected a high-quality product. The operating instructions are part
of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and
disposal. Before using the product, please familiarize yourself with all
operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for
the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating
instructions on to any future owner.
Intended use
This appliance is intended only for straightening human hair. Under no circum-
stances is it to be used for wigs and hairpieces made of synthetic material.
This appliance is intended exclusively for private use. This appliance is not
intended for commercial applications.
Heed all the information in these operating instructions, especially the
safety information.

Failure to use the appliance for its intended purpose and/or any other type of
use can be hazardous.
- Use the appliance only for its intended purpose.
- Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.
The appliance is not intended for any other purpose, nor for use beyond the scope described. No claims of any kind will be accepted for damage arising as a result of incorrect use. The risk shall be borne solely by the user.
Safety information
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

Connect the appliance only to properly installed mains power sockets supplying a mains power voltage of 220–240 V ~, 50/60 Hz.

In event of operating malfunctions and before cleaning the appliance, remove the plug from the mains power socket.

Always pull on the plug to disconnect the appliance from the mains; never pull on the power cable itself.

Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or moist during use. Route the cable in such a way that it cannot be crushed or damaged.

Never take hold of the appliance, the power cable or the power plug with wet hands.
-
In case of damage to the appliance or its power cable, request a replacement appliance or cable from the manufac-turer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazards.

Do not use the appliance outdoors.

Do not use extension cables – this will make it easier to disconnect the appliance quickly in an emergency.

Do not kink or crush the power cable, and route the cable so that it cannot be stepped on or tripped over.

Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance. Protect it from damage.

Never immerse the appliance in liquids or never allow liquids to penetrate the appliance housing. Do not subject the appli-ance to humidity. If liquid does get into the housing, disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket immediately and have the appliance repaired by a qualified technician.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK -
Never use the appliance near water, especially in the vicinity of sinks, baths or similar containers. The prox-imity of water is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off.

Disconnect the appliance from the mains power source immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power only when unplugged.

As additional protection, we recommend you install a residual current circuit-breaker with an activation power rating of not more than 30 mA for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.

Never leave a switched-on appliance unsupervised.

Never place the appliance close to sources of heat, and always protect the power cable from damage.

Do not operate the appliance if it has been dropped or is damaged in any way. Have the appliance checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians if necessary.

This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are being supervised or have been instructed with re-gard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks.

Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy.

Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children unless they are under supervision.

Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning or storing it.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! -
Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the appliance yourself. This can lead to risks and also invalidates the warranty. Defective appliances should be repaired by authorized specialists only.

The appliance heats up during use.
Always hold the appliance by its handle when it is hot. -
Never cover the appliance or put it down on soft materials (e.g. towels). Always place the switched-on/hot appliance on a stable, level and heat-resistant surface.
NOTE -
No user action is required to switch the product between 50 and 60 Hz. The product adapts automatically to either 50 or 60 Hz.

If any items are missing or damaged as a result of defective packaging or transportation, contact the service hotline (see section “Service”).
Unpacking
DANGER
- Do not allow children to play with packaging materials. There is a risk of suffocation.
- Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
- Remove all packaging material.
- Clean all parts of the appliance as described in the section entitled “Cleaning”.

Operation
Switching on/off and setting the temperature
- Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
- Press the ON/OFF button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch on the appliance. (= 180°C) flashes on the display 2, the appliance starts to heat up.
- Use the “+/-” 3 4 buttons to set a temperature between 100°C and 180°C in 10°C increments. The set temperature starts flashing on the display 2. As soon as the selected temperature is reached, the display 2 lights up permanently.
- Hold down the ON/OFF button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch off the appliance.
- Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool down completely.
Key lock
To prevent accidentally changing the temperature during straightening, you can manually activate the key lock.
- Hold down the “+” button 3 for about 2 seconds. The buttons are now locked and the lock symbol appears on the display 2.
- Press the “+” button 3 again for about 2 seconds to deactivate the key lock. The buttons are now unlocked and the lock symbol disappears from the display 2.
Automatic switch-off
If the appliance is switched on and no button is pressed for about 40 minutes, the display 2 starts to flash. After 45 minutes, the appliance switches itself off automatically and the display 2 goes out. Hold down the ON/OFF button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch the appliance back on.
NOTE
The automatic switch-off is a safety function only and is not intended as a replacement for switching the appliance off properly using the ON/OFF switch 5!
Selecting the right temperature
Type of hair | Recommended temper- ature |

Always start at the lowest temperature recommended for your hair type.
If required, raise the temperature in small steps to reach the optimum
temperature setting.
Straightening hair
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

Make sure that the ceramic coating 1 does not touch your scalp or other parts of your skin. Risk of burns!
NOTE -
Excessive temperatures, extended contact with the hair or very frequent straightening can damage the hair. Do not treat a single strand of hair repeatedly, especially at high temperatures.

The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. The only exception to this are special products which facilitate hair straightening.

Comb the dry hair carefully.
-
Switch on the appliance and set the desired temperature.
-
Section off an approximately 4-centimetre-wide strand of hair. Hold it firmly at the tip using the index and middle finger of your free hand.
-
Now, guide the appliance evenly along the strand from the root to the tips. Do not rest the appliance on any part of the strand for a long time.
-
Work through the strands one at a time until you have straightened all the hair.

Switch the appliance off when you have finished and pull out the mains plug. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before storing it.
Cleaning

Always remove the plug from the mains power socket before cleaning the appliance.

Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids to clean it.
WARNING – RISK OF INJURY! -
Allow the appliance to cool sufficiently before cleaning it.
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE! -
Do not use any aggressive cleaning liquids or solvents. These can damage the surface of the appliance!

If any hair gets caught in the bristles of the appliance, remove it carefully, e.g. with your fingers.
-
Wipe the appliance off with a damp cloth as required.
-
Allow the appliance to dry fully before using it again or storing it.
Storage
WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!
Allow the appliance to cool down sufficiently before storing it!
- You can hang the appliance up by the hanger 6. If you do not intend using the appliance for long periods,
- clean the appliance as described in the section “Cleaning”.
- Wind up the power cable and fasten it with the Velcro tape supplied.
- Store the appliance in a clean and dry location.
Troubleshooting

Disposal of the appliance
Never dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is
subject to the provisions of European Directive 2012/19/EU.
Dispose of the appliance via an approved disposal company or your municipal
waste facility. Please comply with all applicable regulations. Please contact
your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt. Your local community or
municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-
out product. The product is recyclable, subject to extended producer
responsibility and is collected separately.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport. The pack-
aging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and
ease of disposal and are therefore recyclable.
Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw materials and
reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging materials
that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.
Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material
components for disposal if necessary. The packaging material is labelled with
abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: plastics,
20–22: paper and cardboard, 80–98: composites

Dear Customer,
This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this
product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your
statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described
below.
Warranty conditions
The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt
in a safe place. This will be required as proof of purchase.
If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date
of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for
you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion). This warranty service
requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase
(receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written
description of the fault and of when it occurred.
If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired
or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the
beginning of a new warranty period.
Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after un-packing. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.
Scope of the warranty
This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guide-
lines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery.
The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does
not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or to fragile
parts which could be considered as consumable parts such as switches,
batteries or parts made of glass.
The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used
or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the
product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses
and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are
warned against must be avoided.
This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial
purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper
handling, use of force and modifications / repairs which have not been carried
out by one of our authorized Service centers.
Warranty claim procedure
To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions:
- Please have the till receipt and the item number (e.g. IAN 123456_7890) available as proof of purchase.
- You will find the item number on the type plate on the product, an engraving on the product, on the front page of the operating instructions (below left) or on the sticker on the rear or bottom of the product.
- If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service department listed either by telephone or by e-mail.
- You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase (till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
