  4. Keep area around the stove clear of debris or materials that can ignite or may be damaged by heat.

  5.  Do not touch the stove’s components until sufficient time has passed to allow it to cool. Touching it before it is cool could cause a burn injury.

  6.  Remove the butane cartridge before performing maintenance on the stove.

BUTANE GAS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! If at any time gas odour is detected, immediately discontinue operation until the source of gas has been located and corrected.

  1.  Use only butane gas. Follow all safety instructions on the butane cylinder.
  2.  For outdoor use only. The area must be well ventilated. Provide a minimum opening of 1 sq. ft. (0.093m2) near the floor and 1 sq. ft. (0.093m2) near the ceiling. Do not use inside of a house, camper, tent, vehicle or any other type of unvented enclosed area.
  3. Do not use the heater in a basement or below ground level. Butane is heavier than air and can collect in a low area.

  5. Do not move, handle or service while hot or burning. Do not detach the butane cylinder from the hot or burning stove.
  6. Use only in accordance with local codes.
  7. The LP-gas cylinder(s) used with a stove shall be constructed and marked in accordance with the specifications for LP-gas cylinders of the U.S. Department of Transportation or Transport Canada, the Standard for Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, CAN/CSA B339.

CARBON MONOXIDE

All gas appliances consume air (oxygen) and can produce carbon monoxide which is toxic and has no odour and can cause death. Using a gas appliance in a small and enclosed area can be harmful. Never use this appliance in a small and enclosed area. Always have fresh air venting.

CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

DANGER! Never operate the stove indoors or in a confined space as the fumes contain carbon monoxide gas. Inhalation of carbon monoxide gas can lead to illness or death. The area must be well ventilated. Opening windows and doors is not enough to ventilate an area.
Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that is difficult to detect. Carbon monoxide poisoning results from inhalation of the gas and may be lethal if left untreated. Evacuate all people to an area with clean air and seek immediate medical attention for any person experiencing the following symptoms:

  1. Headache
  2.  Confusion
  3. Shortness of breath
  4. Weakness
  5.  Chest pain
  6.  Dizziness

OPERATION

Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key.

  1. Ensure the switch (F) is set to OFF.

  2. Flip the pressure sensor-lock lever (E) to UNLOCK.

  3. Flip the side panel (I) down on one or both sides, depending if you are using one or both burners. Insert your finger into the panel’s hole to open it.

  4. Insert the butane gas cartridge into the valve (H) and ensure it is properly seated. The arrow on the valve lines up with the notch in the butane cylinder’s collar.

  5. Flip the pressure sensor-lock lever to LOCK. This will seal the butane cylinder in place.
    a. The pressure sensor-lock lever will only lock when the drip-pan supports are properly installed and the switch is in the OFF position.

  6. Check that the seal is tight. Turn the switch to allow gas to flow. Apply soapy water to the valve, brass tube and around the burner (A). Watch for bubbles to form in the film if there is a leak. You may also smell gas or hear hissing. Reattempt to correctly seal the butane cylinder. Replace the butane cylinder if the problem persists. Should that fail to resolve the problem, the stove may have a defective valve. Have the stove inspected.
    a. Should the pressure in the gas cartridge become excessive, the  pressure sensor-lock safety mechanism will trip and physically separate the butane cylinder from the stove. The air flow will also stop and the burner’s flame will go out.

  7. Close the side panel or panels.

  8. Slowly turn the switch to the ON position. The electronic ignition will produce an audible click and the gas in the burner should ignite.
    a. Should a flame fail to appear, turn the switch to OFF and repeat step 8 4 to 5 times until the gas ignites. After 4 to 5 times attempt without ignition, switch the gas OFF for 1 to 2 minutes before attempting again.
    b. Should it still fail to ignite, switch the butane cylinder to the other burner. A lack of ignition in the other burner may indicate a problem with the cylinder. Should it ignite, the valve system on the other side may be blocked and should be cleaned or replaced by a qualified technician.

  9. Turn the switch to adjust the amount of gas feeding to the burner to increase or decrease the heat.

  10.  Turn the switch (F) to the OFF position and the flame will go out.

  11.  Wait for the stove to cool.

  12. Open the side panel. Flip the pressure sensor-lock lever to UNLOCK. Remove the butane cylinder and store it in a safe place.

  13. Close the side panels and store the stove.
