Product Usage Instructions
Mounting the Operator
The JM 200 operator should be mounted onto a bracket pack designed for the unit. Follow these steps:
- Place the operator onto the bracket pack.
- Secure the operator to the bracket pack with fixing bolts.
- Assemble the drive chain around the motor sprocket and the bracket pack plate wheel.
- Join each end of the drive chain using the split link.
- Adjust the chain tension by tightening the adjustment bolt.
Typical Installation
Assemble the JM operator to a bracket pack designed for the unit and attach it to the shutter end plate using fixing bolts or welding.
Travel Limits and PCB Layout
Refer to the provided documentation for information on setting travel limits and understanding the PCB layout.
FAQ
- Q: What is the recommended power supply for the JM200 Fire Shutter operator?
- A: The recommended power supply is 415V / 3~ at a frequency of 50Hz.
- Q: What is the weight of the JM200 operator?
- A: The weight of the JM200 operator is 11kg.

Overview
The JM 200 operator comes complete with a 1.5m power lead and 5m of push- button cable connected to an internal control system, 2 travel limit switches, 2 safety limit switches and 2 auxiliary limit switches This operator should be mounted directly onto a bracket pack designed to accommodate the unit and drive a rolling shutter door through the use of a drive chain and gearing system. This component is classed as a part-finished machine and is intended to be used as a roller door drive system in an internal
This component is classed as a part-finished machine and is intended to be
used as a roller door drive system in an internal installation of a roller
shutter and operate within a temperature range of – 15°C to +40°C
It is designed to drive a roller shutter by electrical operation or in the
event of power failure by manual means via the emergency low-level haul-chain
- The haul chain should not be used as a constant method of operation The motor can adjusted to suit the installation for mounting to the Right Hand or Left Hand side of the door Caution should be taken when lifting and installing, and a second person or suitable lifting equipment may be required for assistance

Assemble the JM operator to a bracket pack designed to accommodate the unit, This bracket pack in turn is assembled onto the shutter end plate, by means of fixing bolts or welding
- Locate the operator (1) directly onto the bracket pack (2),
- Secure the operator to the bracket pack mounting plate with fixing bolts (3) (supplied with the bracket pack)
- Assemble the drive chain (4) around the motor sprocket (5) and the bracket pack plate wheel (6)
- Join each end of the drive chain using the split link (7), note the setting position of the chain break device (8)
- Adjust the chain tension by tightening the adjustment bolt (9)

Selecting Operation Mode
The JM operator comes set to run in dead-man operation as default It may be
necessary for the user change this operating condition to suit site
requirements
To change this operating mode, move the position of the DIP switch then remove
the mains power then return power to the unit
Definitions:
Dead-man
A continuous press of the control button is required to operate the motor
The motor will stop upon release of the button or until the final limit position is reached or (1) the Emergency Stop button is pressed or (2) a fault develops
Continuous Run
One brief single press and release of the control button will operate the motor The motor will run automatically until the final limit position is reached or (1) the Emergency Stop button is pressed or (2) a fault develops in this condition, should the user keep the control button pressed for a prolong time it will cancel the command, this is not a fault but due to a safety feature within the push button monitoring circuit Release the button and re- press
Setting the travel limits:
- Apply power to the operator, and run the shutter to approximately the middle position x
- Loosen both thumb screws x Wind both Knurled nuts to the Center of the travel rod x
- Re-tighten the thumb screws to allow maximum limit travel in both directions
- Run the door to the required OPEN or CLOSED position, and observe the limit box travel
- Loosen the thumb screw nearest the travel limit switch and adjust the knurled nut until it operates the limit switch, at this point the ‘GREEN’ LED will switch on
- Re-adjust to achieve the correct position if necessary
Connection Detail
To prevent electrical shock risk and allow the user to correct the running direction of the operator this unit is fitted with a 3 phase inverter plug To correct rotation
- Remove the plug from the power supply
- Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the turntable and rotate it 180°
- Re-connect the plug and test

System Layout
Safety Limit
A normally closed (N/C) switch is positioned to disconnect the control circuit in the event of over travel This switch is adjustable by loosening the fixing screws and sliding
Travel Limit
A normally closed (N/C) switch to stop the shutter at the required position of travel
Auxiliary Limit
A switch that can be selected to function normally open (N/O) or normally closed (N/C) and is combined to work in conjunction with the travel limit switch, generally to give a status signal at the end of limit travel
Chain Tension Adjustment Bolt
A screw is used to adjust the chain tension, once the operator is assembled onto the bracket pack
Brake Release Bolt
A bolt directly connected to the brake arm to release the brake when used with a “PP” Solenoid unit
Manual Haul Chain
Haul chain to be used as a means to open or close a shutter in the event of electrical power failure in a emergency situation only, it is not designed for constant everyday use
Manual Brake Release Cord
A cord fitted directly the motor brake arm enables fast closing of the shutter by manual means
Safety Brake Lead
A point of connection for the safety brake micro-switch
Push button Station
A control station to operate the unit, mounted at a low-level position
Plug
Means of connection to the building power supply
