Important information

WARNING!
Protective equipment:
Guide the cable only with a suitable guide glove.
Wear protective glasses depending on the application.
Wear safety shoes with rubber soles (insulation) during cleaning work.

ATTENTION!
Work area:
Place the drain cleaning machine on a straight and non-slip surface.
Never place the main cable in the area of the pipe cleaning cable.
Always work with the guide hose.

WARNING!
Maintenance:
Disconnect the electric power before making any adjustment, accessory assembly, and maintenance. Keep the electric part of the machine from getting wet. Do not immerse the appliance in water when cleaning it.

WARNING!
Before switching the drain cleaner on.
Avoid unintentional rotation of the cable. Put the control switch in OFF- Position before connecting the drain cleaner to the power supply.

NOTE!
Mechanical pipe cleaning should always be carried out from above, towards the blockage.

NOTE!
Select the appropriate drill head for the blockage and the pipe diameter in order to prevent the drill head from hooking and thus the cable from being thrown out of the pipe.
Use a camera system to identify the cause of the blockage and select the appropriate tool.

WARNING!
Do not form a large working arc with the drain cleaning cable. The cable can overturn.
The danger of jamming! The cable can jump out of the tube under tension: Risk of injury!

PRCD-Switch

Fig. 3: PRCD-Switch

The Wöhler RM 200 has a PRCD-switch (personal safety switch) to protect user and drain cleaner against dangerous currents due to possibly defective electrical equipment.

WARNING!
Check the functionality of the switch before each use of RM 200 as follows:

  • Turn on the Wöhler RM 200.

  • Press TEST.
If the device switches off automatically, the PRCD-switch is working and it is safe to work with the Wöhler RM 200.

  • If the Wöhler RM 200 is still working after pressing the “TEST button”, disconnect the power supply immediately.

  • To start normal working mode after inspection, press RÜCKSETZEN (Reset).

Operation

Working with the cable Ø 16 mm

WARNING!
Set the control switch to “OFF” before assembling the cables, the guide hose, and the drills.

  • Insert the cable through the machine shaft.Wohler RM 200 Drain Cleaning Machine - Fig 13 Fig. 4: Wöhler RM 200 with cable, and protection hose already assembled.

  • Fig. 5: Protection hose fixed above cable, locking bolt marked by an arrow

  • Pull the protection hose over the cable from behind and fix it with the locking bolt.
    ATTENTION!
Always use the guide hose. It acts as a vibration-damping guide for the cables, as a dirt holder and guard, also as a safety element for the operating personnel, and prevents uncontrolled banging! Fig. 6: Fixing the drill head with the snaplock

  • Select an appropriate drill head and securely connect it to the cable with the snap-lock.Wohler RM 200 Drain Cleaning Machine - Fig 16 Fig. 7: Releasing the snap-lock to separate the drill head from the cable.

  • To release the snap-lock after cleaning, insert the coupling key into the hole. The coupling key is included in the scope of delivery.

  • Then pull the snap-lock apart with two hands.
    NOTE!
If necessary, spray the snap-lock with a commercially available rust solvent.

  • Place the Wöhler RM 200 in a suitable position in front of the pipe opening. Make sure that it has a secure stand.
    WARNING!
Take care that the Wöhler RM 200 and the mains cable are not placed in water.

  • Insert the plug.

Drain cleaning

Fig. 8: Press control handle

  • Insert the cable into the pipeline as much as possible.
    NOTE!
Keep one segment (20 – 30 mm) of the cable between the machine and the pipeline opening.

  • Turn the control switch to “For” to let the machine shaft rotate clockwise.
    NOTE!
Press the handle to move the machined clutch, which makes the cables rotate. Releasing the handle stops the rotation of the cable immediately. As long as you press the handle, it is not possible to move the cable forward or backward.

  • To loosen the cable from a blockage, set the control switch to “Rev”.

Extend the cable

Fig. 9: Release guide hose, locking bolt marked by an arrow

Option 1:

  • If you want to extend the cable, pull the end out of the guide hose.
  • To do so, pull up the locking bolt on the shaft entrance and pull off the guide hose.
  • Connect the next cable piece and push the entire cable length back into the guide hose.

Fig. 10: Push the extension cable from the front through the unit into the protective hose.

Option 2:

  • When the cable has completely run out of the machine, hold the end of the cable firmly or fix it so that it cannot disappear into the pipe.
  • Push another cable piece from the front through the machine into the protective hose until only approx. 20 cm protrude from the machine.
  • Connect the extension cable to the cable that is already in the tube.
Working with the cable Ø 8 mm/adapter

Fig. 11: The adapter attached to the RM 200, locking bolt marked by an arrow

  • Use an adapter with the 8 mm cable for narrow pipes or pipe bends.
  • To do so, pull the cable approx. 30 cm out of the adapter magazine and push it through the shaft.
  • Push the adapter magazine into the shaft entrance and lock it with the bolt.
  • Now work with the 8 mm cable in the same way as with the 16 mm cable.
After drain cleaning
  • Pull the cable out of the tube and clean it with water.
  • After using the machine, let it freely rotate for 2-3 minutes.
  • Flush and dry the cable and augers. Lubricate them with oil and keep them in a dry place to prevent rusting.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance

WARNING!
Switch off the machine and disconnect the electric power before making any adjustment, accessory assembly, or maintenance.

  • Keep the machine well lubricated. Inject the lubrication oil ISO VG 32 into oil holes before and after each use. Fig. 12: Lubrication points marked with an arrow
  • Take care that no electric part of the machine gets wet.
  • Prior to the next use, after being stored for a long time, check the machine for free rotation, then turn on the control switch. If the machine shaft does not rotate after the motor is running or the handle is pressed, there may be rust inside. Turn off the electric power immediately to avoid electric damage. In this case, send it to the service or replace the clamp jaws.
Replace the clamp jaws

Fig. 13: Clamp jaws

The clamp jaws grip the cable when the lever is pressed down so that the cable rotates. Replace the clamp jaws if the cable does not rotate during operation.

NOTE!
It may be sufficient to clean it only. To replace the clamp jaw, proceed as follows:

  • Remove the housing cover.

  • To do this, loosen the two screws with a 5 mm Allen key. Fig. 14: Remove the housing cover

  • Remove the clamp jaws from the housing. Fig. 15: Clamp jaws Fig. 16: Place new clamp jaws
    Visual Inspection

  • Place the new or cleaned clamp jaws in the same position.
    ATTENTION!
Make sure that the clamping jaws are aligned and that the clamping coupling is placed centrally in the ring.

  • Replace the housing cover so that the clamp jaws are centered in the ring.

  • When placing the housing cover make sure that the service lever is facing upwards.

  • Screw the housing cover tightly.

  • Check the correct installation with a visual inspection:

  • Look through the shaft entrance: If the operating lever is pressed, the clamp jaws are visible, if the operating lever is not pressed, they are not visible.
