Useful information

Proper use

The Wöhler Snap and Sweep System is used for cleaning chimneys, exhaust pipes and air ducts. Cleaning can be carried out by one person. For this purpose, a cleaning attachment is placed on a rod. The rod is then extended by any number of additional rods.
For cleaning, the rods can be pushed by hand or rotated with a cordless screwdriver or a drill. Do not use the Wöhler Hammer Probe for any other use than set out in this manual.

ATTENTION!
The Wöhler Snap & Sweep System can be used for cleaning pipes with a diameter of Ø 15 cm or more.
ATTENTION!
The Wöhler Snap & Sweep Strong System cannot be used in rotation. The rods must be pushed.

Important information

WARNING!
Fiberglass rods may splinter during use. Appropriate hand and eye-protection is highly recommended.
WARNING!
If the rod is rotated with a cordless screwdriver, the hand guiding the rod must only loosely surround the rod. Rings must be removed. Friction injuries could result from the fast rotation.
WARNING!
Make sure that the cleaning attachments cannot touch any body parts when the cordless drill is switched on. Chains and trimmer tools in particular can cause injury during operation.
WARNING!
If a chain or trimmer thread gets caught in the chimney during cleaning, the cordless drill can be knocked out of the hand. This applies in particular if the drill does not have a slipping clutch. Therefore, always select a suitable rotation speed!

ATTENTION!
Use the Snap & Sweep system only within the specified temperatures.
ATTENTION!
Only operate the cordless drill clockwise! In lefthanded operation, the connection adapter rotates out of the chuck.

Working with the Wöhler Snap & Sweep-System

The Wöhler Snap and Sweep System is rotated by a cordless screwdriver or a drill. This does not apply to the “Snap & Sweep Strong” system.

NOTE!
When cleaning very big chimneys with the red rods we recommend not to rotate the rods by a screwdriver or drill. Only push the rods.
NOTE!
For safe handling, the use of an angle battery screwdriver is recommended.

WARNING!
Before mounting the adapter, cleaning tools and rods, always block the operating switch of the cordless screwdriver to prevent unintentional starting!

Mounting the Adapter and the rod

Fig. 11: Cordless angle drill with drill adapter

  • Unscrew the drill chuck (1) counterclockwise.
  • Insert the adapter (2) into the drill chuck.
  • Tighten the drill chuck (1) clockwise.
  • Slide the male rod connector into the adapter. The tabs of the connector must be inserted into the holes of the adapter until they snap into place.

WARNING! The tabs of the plug must be inserted into the recesses of the drill until they click into place!

Assembly and disassembly of the system

Assembling the cleaning tool

Fig. 12: Assembling the cleaning tool

  • Slide the male connector of the cleaning tool into the female connector of the rod.

WARNING! The tabs of the plug must be inserted into the holes of the sleeve until they engage with a clearly audible click.

Disconnecting
  • Press the snap straps inwards with the fingers and thumb of your left hand and simultaneously pull the rod or cleaning tool out of the female connector with your right hand.
Cleaning from below
  • Place a soot bag under the chimney opening.

  • Install the cleaning tool on a rod.

  • Slide the rod with the cleaning tool into the chimney.
    NOTE!
If necessary, you can seal the chimney opening with a soot protection cone or a sealing element and pass the rod through a hole in the element.

  • Connect a second rod to the first.

  • Connect the drill to the lower end of the rod.

  • Switch on the drill to rotate the cleaning attachment and push the rod as far as possible into the chimney at the same time.
    NOTE!
Dieser Schritt gilt nicht für das System Snap & Sweep Strong. Hier nur stoßend arbeiten!

  • Separate the drill from the rod and connect it to the next rod.

  • Repeat the process until the entire chimney has been cleaned.

  • When pulling out the rods, work in reverse order.
    NOTE!
It is recommended to spread the bag as a base. Rods and cleaning tools can be placed there after use. This prevents a pollution of the working area.
