The front of the Jack antenna is the square section. The side thumb lock is pushed in, and the Jack is rotated 360 degrees.
What is the purpose of a King Jack antenna?
KING Jack enables increased UHF signal reception—where more than 80% of new HDTV channels are broadcast—and continues to give outstanding reception of existing VHF channels thanks to its wide reception range and improved signal strength. To eliminate dead patches, the antenna rotates 360 degrees.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does the antenna come with a mounting plate?
The mounting plate is only needed if you’re replacing a crank-up unit or installing it on a rubber roof. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our Service Department at 952-922-6889, x173. -
Does this work with the king oa1000 Omni pro?
Yes, it is compatible with the OA1000. -
How does the king-jack work under a metal RV cover?
I don’t have a metal cover on my RV but imagine that it won’t work if tv wavelength signals can’t penetrate the cover. -
Does the unit work well without mast and crank?
It is designed to attach directly to the roof. I’m not sure how anyone could mount it to a crank-up mast. In my opinion, it works as well as the old bat wing-style antenna. -
Can this antenna be used as a direct replacement for a Keystone in-command system?
Not sure it ties on analog Antananarivo pole -
Is this antenna compatible with the king kwm1000 wifi max router? or is it strictly for tv?
This antenna is for TV, but it will not interfere with the KWM1000! They work amazingly with each other! If you are looking to extend your KWM1000 WiFi range, we would suggest looking at the KING Swift upgrade kit, otherwise, the Jack omnidirectional antenna is a great choice to watch TV on the go. -
Can you replace an 8400 with an8500 and how hard is it to do?
It’s relatively easy, it will fit in the exact same spot with no problem, you will have to unseal and re-seal it which will be the hardest thing to do. You can just re-use the same fasteners. I’d recommend Dicor self-leveling lap sealant for the sealer. Probably a 30-minute to hour-long job depending on how much the last installer decided to cover the thing with sealant. -
Does it work with oa1501 and does it come in black?
it comes in black. -
Does the black antenna have the white control knob?
Correct, the control knob inside is still white and does not come in black. -
Is this antenna amplified?
Yes. -
I bought a 2013 5th wheel with a king-jack. would there be any advantage to upgrading to the current model oa8500?
It has a built-in signal attenuator and signal strength meter. -
What is needed to install on a new trailer that has never had an antenna?
12 v source, coax for input/output, and a “hole in the roof”.. your installation will be a lot more difficult than mine but with a little effort and thought, you should have no problem. -
How does it handle the occasional tree branch?
It doesn’t stand up well enough. Ours just got torn off. Will replace it though, works great. -
Can i mount the control on the wall of my 5th wheel camper that has high ceilings?
Assuming your reference to “control” is the sure lock signal meter the answer is no. The signal meter attaches directly to the antenna shaft that penetrates the roof. This is how you rotate the antenna to gain the best signal. There is also a power injector that can, and usually is, be mounted on the wall. It is typically mounted near the TV as it needs to connect to the RG6 cable to boost the signal. I will suggest you find the PDF owners’ manual online. This will give you a visual reference of the assembly and how it all connects.
