Introduction

Dear customer,
Thank you for the confidence you have shown in the Extol® brand by purchasing this product.
This product has been tested for reliability, safety and quality according to the prescribed norms and regulations of the European Union.

Manufacturer: Madal Bal a. s., Průmyslová zóna Příluky 244, 76001 Zlín, Czech Republic
Date of issue: 24. 11. 2020

Description – purpose of use

Powerful, high performance cordless Li-ion compressor for that is part of the SHARE 20 V cordless power tool product line is powered using a single type of battery and is intended for checking and inflating tyres of personal and utility vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles to their prescribed pressure, as well as for inflating sports balls,  air mattresses, etc.

  • The backlit display and LED lamp enable the cordless compressor to also be used in poor visibility conditions.

  • The pressure can be measured in units of bar, psi, kPa by simply setting the pressure units.

  • The compressor can be used to check tyre pressure and if necessary to also inflate a tyre to the prescribed pressure value.

  • The trigger is equipped with a safety mechanism against accidental start up and for locking it in place in the pressed position (switch lock) for inflating objects that take a long time, e.g. inflatable mattresses.

  • The compressor will automatically stop inflating when the preset pressure is reached or the inflation process can be immediately stopped by releasing the trigger if necessary.

  • The battery is protected against being discharged by an automatic shut-off function during inactivity.

  • Thanks to the very slow self-discharge of the Li-ion battery, the battery remains ready for use even long after it has been charged. Furthermore, the Li-ion battery can be recharged at any time, regardless of its charge level without reducing its capacity.
The battery is equipped with protection against full discharge, which damages it. This protection prevents the battery voltage from falling below a certain value that is damaging to it.

  • The cordless compressor variant Extol® Premium 8891875 is supplied without a battery and charger at a lower purchase price for the situation where the user has already purchased the battery and charger with another cordless power tool from the SHARE 20 V cordless product range.

  • The cordless compressor variant Extol® Premium 8891874 is supplied with a Li-ion battery 2000 mAh, 20 V and charger 2.4 A.

Using the compressor

MEASURING AND INCREASING THE PRESSURE IN TYRES

  1. Insert a charged battery into the power tool according to fig. 1, so that the battery button clicks in.
After inserting the battery, the display will be lit and the power tool will be in active mode. If not, press the pressure unit setting button (fig. 1, position 13), which should result in the display being lit and the power tool will be in active mode.

  2. Press the pressure unit setting button (fig. 1, position 13) to set the required pressure measuring unit (bar, PSI or kPa).

  3. After tilting open the valve connector lever (fig. 1, position 5) of the air hose, securely put the valve connector on to the tyre valve, whilst exerting appropriate force. Then tilt down the valve connector lever, whereby air will not escape (if yes, the valve connector is not correctly seated on the valve) and the display will show the current pressure inside the tyre.

  4. If necessary, increase the pressure using the „+“ button to the required pressure value.
    ATTENTION

    • For safety reasons, tyres must be inflated to their prescribed pressure.
    • For filling with a larger volume of air, the battery should be sufficiently charged.
    • The capacity of the battery significantly declines during sub-zero or high temperatures (above 50°C), which manifests itself in lower power of the compressor and this damages the battery, and for this reason do not leave the compressor in the vehicle during freezing or hot weather.
  5. Slide the trigger safety mechanism upwards (fig. 2, step 1.), which will unlock the trigger, then press the trigger (fig. 2, step 2), which will start the compressor.
After releasing the trigger, the trigger will be secured in the pressed position. The compressor will automatically stop inflating when the preset pressure is reached.

    • In the event that it is necessary to immediately stop the compressor, set the trigger safety mechanism downwards and release the trigger, which will turn off the compressor.
    • In the event that it is necessary to reduce the pressure in the tyre, tilt open the valve connector lever on the hose, which will result in air leaking out from the tyre valve and then tilt the lever down again and measure the current pressure, and if necessary add additional air as described above.
  6. To remove the air hose from the tyre valve, first tilt open the valve connector lever and then immediately remove the valve connector from the tyre valve to prevent large air losses.

  7. To protect the valve against damage, screw the cap back on to the tyre valve.

INFLATING MATTRESSES, BALLS, ETC.

  1. Tilt open the valve connector lever (fig. 1, position 5) and insert the accessory inflating adapter (fig. 1, position 9) into the connector, based on the type of valve.
To inflate objects via the mouth inflation valve, insert the universal valve adapter into the valve connector of the compressor air hose, to inflate sports balls, insert the thin metal adapter, to inflate tyre tubes insert the tyre adapter.

  2. To secure the inflation adapter in the valve connector, tilt down the valve connector lever.

  3. Inflate the object using the compressor to the prescribed pressure by controlling the compressor as described in the above described paragraph „Measuring and increasing the pressure in tyres“.

  4. After use, remove the valve adapter from the valve hose connector and store it in the appropriate location on the compressor, fig. 1, position 9.

AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF WHEN IDLE

  • To prevent the battery from discharging, after a certain period of inactivity, the compressor will automatically turn itself off.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE BATTERY
The battery is equipped with protection against full discharge, which damages it. This protection manifests its self by the compressor coming to a sudden stop even when the trigger switch is pressed, when the battery has been discharged multiple times. When the trigger switch is released and then pressed again, the power tool will start again, but then it will stop again.

Safety instructions for the battery charger

  • Read the user‘s manual before charging.
  • The charger is intended only for charging indoors. It is necessary to protect it against rain, high humidity and temperatures over 40°C.

  • Protect the charger against impacts and falls and prevent water from entering into the charger.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BATTERY

  • Protect the battery against rain, frost, high humidity, high temperatures (over 50°C), against mechanical damage (impacts and falls), and never open, burn or short circuit the battery. Store the battery fully charged, and to achieve the longest possible battery lifetime, fully charge the battery after several months of storage (every 6 months).
  • The battery capacity is significantly reduced in freezing and high temperatures (above 50°C) and it is also damaged.
  • Protect the DC socket of the compressor against soiling, deformation or other damages, and against conductive bridging of the contacts by taping over the connectors, e.g. using plastic tape, which prevents short-circuiting it and subsequent fire or explosion.
  • Ensure that children do not play with the compressor or the battery.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND MAINTENANCE OF CORDLESS TOOLS

  • Only charge the cordless tool using the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery pack, may lead to a fire hazard if used with a different battery pack.
  • Only use the tool with a battery pack that is explicitly determined for the given tool. Using any other battery pack may create a accident or fire hazard.
  • When the battery pack is not being used, protect it against contact with other metal items such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal items that could make a connection between both battery contacts. Short circuiting the battery contacts may cause burns or a fire.
  • Incorrect use may cause liquids to leak out of the battery; avoid coming into contact with them. In the event of accidental contact with these liquids, rinse the affected area with water. In the event that the liquid enters the eye, seek medical help. Liquids leaking from the battery may cause inflammations or burns.
  • A battery pack or power tool that is damaged or modified, must not be used. Damaged or modified batteries may behave erratically, which may result in a fire, an explosion or an injury hazard.
  • Battery packs or power tools must not be exposed to a fire or excessive heat. Exposure to fire or a temperature exceeding 50°C may result in an explosion.
  • It is necessary to adhere to all battery charging instructions and not to charge the battery pack or power tool outside the temperature range specified in this user‘s manual. Incorrect charging, or charging at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
