use.
Keep this instruction manual together with the device for future use. If other
people use this device, make this instruction manual available. This
instruction manual is part of the device and must be supplied with the de-vice
in case of sale.

SAFETY HINTS
- Do not look directly into the LED and do not direct the light beam into the eyes of humans or animals. CAUTION: Looking into the light for an extended period of time may cause an irreversible damage to the retina.
- Do not operate or touch the device with wet hands.
- Only for the illumination for photographic purposes. Not suited for per-manent room lightning.
- Keep away from flammable materials.
- Ensure sufficient ventilation during operation. Never cover the ventilation slots.
- Make sure to use the device only with appropriate, high-quality batteries/rechargeable batteries (optional). Remove batteries when device is not in use for a long period of time.
- Protect the device from rain, moisture, direct sunlight and extreme tem-peratures.
- Protect the device against impacts. Do not use the device if it has been dropped. In this case a qualified electrician should inspect the device before you use it again.
- Do not attempt to repair the device by yourself. When service or repair is required, contact qualified service personnel.
- People with physical or cognitive disabilities should use the device with supervision.
- People with cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators or any other electrical implants should maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm, as the device generates magnetic fields.
- Do not use the device nearby mobile phones and devices that generate strong electromagnetic fields.
- This device is not a toy. To prevent accidents and suffocation keep the device, the accessories and the packing materials away from children and pets.
- Protect the device against dirt. Never use aggressive cleansing agents or benzine to clean the device. We recommend a soft, slightly damp micro-fiber cloth to clean the outer parts of the device.
- Before cleaning make sure to switch off the device and take off from power supply!
- Store the device in a dust-free, dry and cool place.
- If the device is defective or without any further use, dispose of the device according to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive WEEE. For further information, please contact your local authorities.
SAFETY HINTS FOR BATTERIES/ACCUMULATORS
Only use high-quality batteries/accumulators of popular brands. When in- serting the batteries/accumulators, please respect the correct polarity (+/-). Do not insert batteries of different types and always replace all batteries at the same time. Do not combine used batteries with fresh batteries. Please remove batteries/accumulators when device is not in use for a long period of time. Do not throw the batteries/accumulators into fire, do not short-circuit and do not disassemble them! Never charge non-rechargeable bat-teries – risk of explosion! Remove empty batteries immediately from the device to avoid the leaking of battery acid. Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately. Clean the contacts before inserting fresh batteries. Risk of battery acid burn! In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected area immediately with water and contact a doctor. Batteries can be dangerous to life if swallowed. Keep batteries/accumulators away from small children and pets. Do not dispose of batteries in household waste (see also chapter “Disposal of Batteries/Accumulators”).
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The DRL-232 LED ring light is designed for use with macro and close-up photography. It is also great for other purposes, e.g. portrait photography. The annular order of the LEDs ensures shadow free illumination in the close-up range. The DRL-232 can also be used off the camera.

INSTALLATION
INSERTING THE BATTERIES
Open the battery compartment lid (10a) by sliding it into the direction of the
arrow. Insert 6 Mignon AA batteries or rechargeable batteries of the same type
(optional) into the battery compartment (10b). Respect the cor-rect plus/minus
polarity.
Close the battery compartment lid (10a) by sliding it against the direction of
the arrow.
Note Because of the high performance we recommend to use rechar-geable
batteries.
ATTACHMENT OF THE BATTERY BOX TO THE CONTROL UNIT Place the battery
box (10) on the control unit (1) as shown on the sketch. Press the battery box
downwards, until it clicks into place and slide the battery box towards the
battery contacts (10c).
For detachment of the battery box, press the release button (3) and slide the
battery box backwards.
ALTERNATIVE OPERATION WITH LI-ION BATTERY
Alternatively, a Li-Ion battery type Sony NP-F550/NP-750/NP-F970 (op-tional)
can be used instead of the battery box. This will increase the opera-tion time
and improves the cost-effectiveness.
Replace Sony NP-F550/NP-750/NP-F970 batteries are optionally available from
DÖRR.
MOUNTING
MOUNTING THE RING LIGHT ON THE LENS
First, screw the correct adapter ring (11) onto your lens. Press the release
buttons (6) while mounting the lens with the adapter ring to the lens mount
(7). In order to remove the ring light, press the release buttons (6) again.
MOUNTING THE CONTROL UNIT ON THE CAMERA
Before mounting the control unit (1), make sure the main switch (2) is on
position OFF. Slide the flash shoe of the control unit (5) carefully onto the
camera’s hot shoe. In order to ensure a firm hold and tighten the locking screw
(5a) clockwise.
Alternatively, the control unit can also be mounted off the camera on a
tripod, using the incorporated ¼” tripod socket (5b).
TAKING PICTURES WITH THE LED RING LIGHT
Switch your camera on after having mounted the ring light. Move the ring
light’s main switch (2) to position ON.
We recommend to take pictures in aperture priority mode (A/Av) or ma-nual mode
(M), so you can select the desired aperture and the depth of sharpness
manually.
Depending on the object, the ambient light and the desired depth of sharp-
ness, the light intensity can be variably adjusted from 20% to 100% using the
brightness control (4).
For a three dimensional illustration with lateral shadow, the ring light can
also be positioned above or aside the lens. For attachment on a tripod, the
ring light boasts of a ¼” tripod socket (8) at the bottom. For an optimum
direction, use the supplied ball head (9).
After usage, set the main switch (2) to position OFF.
CLEANING AND STORAGE

Turn off the device and remove batteries before cleaning. Store the device in a dust-free, dry and cool place. This device is not a toy – keep it out of reach of children. Keep away from pets.

DISPOSAL, CE MARKING
DISPOSAL OF BATTERIES/ACCUMULATORS
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed out bin. This symbol indicates that empty batteries or accumulators which can no longer be charged should not be disposed of with household waste. Waste batteries may contain harmful substances that can cause damage to health and to the environment. Please use the return and collection systems available in your country for the disposal of the waste batteries.
