 Thank you for purchasing the Nedis DTCTSL50WT.

This document is the user manual and contains all the information for correct, efficient and safe use of the product.

This user manual is addressed to the end user. Read this information carefully before installing or using the product.

Always store this information with the product for use in the future.

Product description

 The DTCTSL50WT is a photoelectric smoke alarm. It is powered by a 3 volt battery. It is designed for detecting smoke in the air. The smoke alarm cannot prevent a fire.

Intended use

This product is intended for smoke detection. Other uses or changes to the product constitute improper use and carry serious risk of accidents. This product is for indoor use only. This product is not intended for commercial use.

The product must not be mounted in damp rooms, near doors, windows, ventilators or radiators.

Any modification of the product may have consequences for safety, warranty and proper functioning.

Safety instructions

WARNING

  • Read the instructions before use.
  • Only use the product as described in this manual.
  • Do not use a damaged product.
  • Do not use the product if a part is damaged or defective. Replace a damaged or defective device immediately.
  • Do not drop the product and avoid bumping.
  • Do not expose the product to water, rain, moisture or high humidity.
  • Built-in Lithium battery of product cannot be replaced. Standby time is 10 years at normal use condition.
  • Do not place the product within 61 cm of the wall to ensure proper operation.
  • Do not place the product in high pointed ceilings to ensure proper operation.
  • Test the product once per week to ensure proper operation.
  • Do not paint the product.
  • Do not use this product in a dusty or smoky ambience.
  • Do not use the product for outdoor uses, the product is designed for indoor use.
  • Replace the product under conditions of malfunction, end of life or low-battery.

Installation

  • Check the contents of the package
  • Check that all parts are present and that no damage is visible on the parts. If parts are missing or damaged, contact the Nedis B.V. service desk via the website: www.nedis.com.
Preparation
  • Install the product on the wall or ceiling.

The product must be installed:

  • In each room.
  • On each floor.
  • In the hallway.
  • In the staircase.
  • In the storage room.
  • In spaces with electric equipment.

Do not install in the tip of a sloping ceiling as smoke-free air can collect in these areas.

Install the product on the ceiling where 1 m from the highest point of the ceiling.

Install the product at least 61 cm from the corner of the wall.

Install the product at least 50 cm from fluorescent light sources.

Installation of the product


E

1. Turn  A 5 counterclockwise to remove it from  A 1.

2. Remove  A 4 from  A 1 to switch on the product.

3. Place  A 5 in the desired location.

4. Use  A 5 to mark the drill locations with a pencil.

5. Drill two Ø 6 mm holes.

6. Insert the plugs.

7. Fasten the mounting bracket with  A 6.

8. Turn  A 1 clockwise to attach it to  A 5.

Use

Testing the product

The product must be tested to ensure proper operation.

1. Press and hold  A 3 until the product emits a continuous “beep” and A 2 starts blinking.

2. Release  A 3. The “beep” stops and  A 2 stops blinking.

  • The product is now in hush mode.

3. Repeat the above steps to exit the hush mode and finish the test.

Hush mode
  • In hush mode, the product does not detect smoke for 9 minutes.
  • The hush mode must be activated manually.

1. Press  A 3 shortly to activate hush mode. The LED blinks every 10 seconds.

  • After 9 minutes, the product goes back into standby mode.

Tip: To leave the hush mode early, hold down  A 3 until the product emits a “beep”.

Note: In hush mode, the alarm is still triggered when the smoke concentration in the ambience is over 4 times the minimum alarming value.

Maintenance

  •  Clean the product regularly with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasives that can damage the surface.
  • Do not use aggressive chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, acid or acetone when cleaning the product.

 Any changes and/or modifications to the product will void the warranty. We accept no liability for damage caused by improper use of the product.
