This document is the user manual and contains all the information for correct, efficient and safe use of the product.

This user manual is addressed to the end user. Read this information carefully before installing or using the product.

Product description

 Intended use

This product is exclusively intended as a two-way communication system over large distances of up to 10 km.

The product can be charged via the Micro-USB port on the side of the product.

The WLTK1000BK is intended for indoor and outdoor use.

Any modification of the product may have consequences for safety, warranty and proper functioning.

  • Keep cells and batteries clean and dry.
  • Do not remove a battery from its original packaging until required for use.
  • Do not subject cells or batteries to mechanical shock.
  • In the event of a battery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
  • Seek medical advice immediately if a cell or a battery has been swallowed.
  • Do not install the battery in reverse polarity.
  • Observe the plus (+) and minus (–) marks on the cell, battery and equipment and ensure correct use.
  • Do not short circuit.
  • Do not use any battery which is not designed for use with the equipment.
  • Battery usage by children should be supervised.
  • Always purchase the battery recommended by the product manufacturer for the equipment.
  • Wipe the cell or battery terminals with a clean dry cloth if they become dirty.
  • Use only the battery in the application for which it was intended as described in this manual.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Do not use the battery if any part is damaged or defective. Replace a damaged or defective battery immediately.
  • Do not dismantle, open or shred batteries.
  • When possible, remove the battery from the equipment when not in use.
  • Do not expose batteries to heat or fire. Avoid storage in direct sunlight.
  • Do not repair the product. If damaged, it must be properly disposed of.

Electronic equipment needs to bear the CE mark in order to be marketed in the EU. CE marking shows that a product is assessed before being placed on the market and that it meets EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements. CE marking is also sometimes accepted as a means of compliance with type-approval requirements; for example, electronic components that require type-approval and also CE marking for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) or low-voltage equipment.

Indication to explain that the product needs to be collected separately when disposed. Do not throw in the trash bin.

Installation

  •  Check the contents of the package
  • Check that all parts are present and that no damage is visible on the parts. If parts are missing or damaged, contact the Nedis B.V. service desk via the website: www.nedis.com.

Use

Power button  A 8

Press and hold for 3 seconds to switch the product on or off. A beep will sound.

Press 1x to select the channel.

Press 2x to select the CTCSS code.

Press 3x to select the VOX settings.

Press 4x to select the call tone. (CA)

Press 5x to switch the key tone on or off. (TO)

Press 6x to switch the roger beep on or off. (RO)

Lock button  A 7

Press and hold for 3 seconds to lock or unlock the product.

PTT button  A 5

|

Press to send a call tone. The tone will be transmitted over the set channel.

Press and hold to talk.

Down button  A 9

|

Press to decrease the volume.

Monitor button  A 9

|

Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate the monitor.

Up button  A10

|

Press to increase the volume.

Scan button  A10

|

Press and hold for 2 seconds to scan for radio channels.

Display  A 3

|

Press  A 5 A 7 A 8 A 9 or  A10  to switch on the display light.

Lamp button  A 6

|

Press and hold to switch on the lamp.

Belt clip  A13

|

Hold the latch and move the belt clip upwards, to remove the belt clip.

Slide the belt clip in to fasten the belt clip.

Battery Compartment  A14

|

If the battery is low, the battery icon will flash and a beep will sound to indicate that the batteries must be recharged.

Remove the belt clip  A13  from the product before opening the battery compartment  A14.

Remove the batteries, if you do not use the product for an extended period of time.

Micro USB port  A17

|

The product can be charged in the charging base or via the Micro-USB port on the side of the product.

It is recommended to switch off your radio during charging.

1. Plug the micro USB cable  A12  into the micro USB port  A17.

2. Plug the other end of  A12  into a computer or power adapter.

3. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet.

The battery icon on the display flashes to indicate the product is being charged.

Frequency channel

The product meets all required standards for radio equipment using PMR 446 frequencies as authorized. The use of this two-way radio product involves the public airways and it’s use may be subject to local laws or regulations. Contact your radio licensing authority for more information.

Receiving/transmitting communication

When the product is switched on, the product is in reception mode.

1. Make sure both walkie talkies are set to the same radio channel.

2. Point the antenna upwards.

3. Hold the product in a vertical position with the microphone 5 cm away from your mouth.

4. Press and hold the PTT button  A 5 and speak.

5. Release  A 5 to stop transmitting.

  • The transmission quality depends on your environment and can be affected by obstructions such as hills or buildings.
  • Do not use two walkie talkies within 1.5 m of each other to prevent interference.
  • The product cannot be used to contact the emergency services.
 Scanning for an active radio channel

Press and hold the scan button  A10  for 2 seconds to scan for an active radio channel.

The channel will scan continuously from 1 to 8. If an active channel is found, the scanning will stop and you can listen to the transmission. If the transmission stops, the scanning will resume automatically.

Changing channels

1. Press the menu button  A 7. The channel number (1-8) flashes on the display.

2. Press the up and down button  A 9 A q to change the channel.

3. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System)

The product can operate on [8] different radio channels. If there are many users in your vicinity, other users may be operating on the same radio channel. When using CTCSS, a low-frequency tone (67-250 Hz) is transmitted along with the voice signal.

1. Press  A 7 2 times.

2. The current CTCSS code flashes on the display.

3. Press  A 9 A q to change the CTCSS code (38 codes).

4. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

  • Due to filtering, these sub-channels will generally not be audible and not disturb the communication.
 VOX (hands-free function)
  • In VOX mode, the product transmits a signal when it is activated by your voice or any other sound. To overrule the VOX mode, press  A 5.

1. Press  A 7 3 times.

2. The current VOX setting flashes on the display.

3. Press  A10  to set the VOX sensitivity level.

  • 1 = low sensitivity / 2 = medium sensitivity / 3 = high sensitivity

4. To disable VOX mode, press  A 9 until the display shows “OFF”.

5. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

  • Do not use VOX mode in a noisy or windy environment.
 Call tones

1. Press  A 7 4 times.

2. Press  A 9 A q to change the call tone (10 tones).

3. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

Key tones

1. Press  A 7 5 times.

2. Press  A 9 A10  to switch the key tone on or off.

3. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

Roger beep on/off

1. Press  A 7 6 times.

2. Press  A 9 A10  to switch the roger beep on or off.

3. Press  A 5 to confirm and return to standby mode.

4. A beep will sound.

Maintenance

  •  Clean the product regularly with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasives that can damage the surface.
  • Do not use aggressive chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, acid or acetone when cleaning the product.
  • Do not clean the inside of the product.
  • Do not attempt to repair the product. If the product does not operate correctly, replace it with a new product.

Any changes and/or modifications to the product will void the warranty. We accept no liability for damage caused by improper use of the product.
