SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • The use of filiter units is regulated by EN 529, EN 14387 and EN 143:2000/A1:2006, and by the corresponding national regulations.
  • The applicable national regulations for the use of filter units should be followed in all their relevant parts.
  • Users should be instructed in the use of the filter unit and be able to use a breathing apparatus.
  • The type and concentration of harmful substances in the environment in question must be known. Make sure that the ambient conditions cannot deteriorate during the time spent in the dangerous area. In which case a breathing apparatus should be used.
  • Filter units should not be used if there could be other impurities that cannot be detected by smell, taste, or irritation to the eyes or respiratory channels. Follow any special regulations.
  • Gas filters do not provide protection from particles, and particle filters do not provide protection from gas. Use combination filters in doubtful cases.
  • Do not use the filter after the specified expiry date or after 6 month if the package has been opend.
  • Improper use can cause serious personal injury, health problems or death.

WARNING!

  • Double gas filter for use in half mask 906179 without a fan-assisted air supply.
  • Follow the instructions for half mask 906179 as well.

DESCRIPTION

MARKINGS ON BREATHING FILTER

  • A1 (colour code: brown) – class 1, for use with low capacity cartridge for filtering of organic gas/vapour> 65°C.
  • E1 (colour code: yellow) – class 1: for use where there is sulphur dioxide and other acidic gas/vapou
  • B1 (colour code: grey)- class 1, for use if there is inorganic gas and vapour (not CO) i.e. chlorine, H,S, HCN.
  • Ki (colour code: green) – class 1, for use if there are ammonia and organic ammonium derivates.
  • ABEK1 (colour code: brown, grey, yellow and green) – class 1, for use if there is A1, B1,E1, and K1 gas.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF FILTER UNIT

  • The most stringent of the values should always be applied.
  • Follow applicable national regulations.

USE

HOW TO USE

  1. Check packaging and filter before use. Do not use the filter if there are any signs of damage or holes in the packaging or diaphragm, if the filter is deformed, or is cracked or otherwise damaged.
  2. Read these instructions caretully betore use and make sure that the person using the filter fully understands all the instructions.
  3. Replace the filter cartridge immediately when it feels more difficult to breathe.
  4. The cartridges only provide protection from some gases. Use the filter marking to selecta suitable filter.
  5. Do not replace a filter cartridge in a contaminated area.
  6. Release the fastener, screw the filter cartridge on the half mask and check the tightness before use.

NOTE:
Facial hair and scars etc. can result in inferior tightness.

LIMITATIONS
Do not use the filter cartridges in the following circumstances:

  • When there is an increase in the oxygen content or when the Concentration exceeds 23.5%. The increase in the oxygen content can be very dangerous. The limit is not definite, but even a moderate increase in the content increases the risk. An increase in the oxygen content means that sparks are a greater fire hazard, and that a fire would be more intense.
  • With a concentration higher than 0.1% of harmful gas.
  • In areas where there is a risk of explosion.
  • In the vicinity of significant fire risk or molten metal, because of the risk of the active carbon in the filter igniting (formation of CO/Co.).
  • The oxygen content in the inhaled air must not be less than 19%.
  • Never enter unventilated tanks, pits, channels or small spaces with filtered breathing protection. In such cases a breathing apparatus must be used.
  • Filters and filter sets heavier than 300 g must only be used witha full face mask.

CHECK

  • Check all plastic and rubber parts for for cracks and fatigue damage.
  • Check that the breathing flter is correctly fitted and in good condition.
    This type of filter cartridge does not require any maintenance.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING AND STORAGE

  • Remove the breathing filter from the mask after use and store it separately.
  • The breathing filter does not need to be cleaned.
  • Store chemical breathing filters in an airtight container when not in use so that they are protected from moisture.
  • Dispose of used filter cartridges in accordance with local regulations.
  • Pay attention to the storage time and date of expiry. The product can not be used 6 months after the package as been opened.

WARNING!
Incorrect storage can reduce the service life of the breathing filter.

FITTING AND REPLACING BREATHING FILTERS
Suitable for half mask model 906179.

  1. Align the lower part of the breathing filter to the lower part of the mask and fit them together. Turn the filter cartridge clockwise.
  2. Turn the breathing filter anticlockwise to remove.

IMPORTANT :
Twin/double filters must always be replaced in pairs and two filters in the same filter class must always be used.

USEFUL LIFE OF BREATHING FILTERS

  • The chemical breathing filter must be used before the expiry date, which is given on the pack.
  • The useful life of the product is affected by the following factors.
    • The activity of the user and breathing rate.
    • The type, viscosity and concentration of the contaminating substance
    • Environmental conditions such as humidity, air pressure and temperature.
    • Correct handling of the product.
  • Replace the filter immediately if the user detects the smell of the Contaminating substance or other strong smell.
