important safety messages in this manual and on the water pump. Please read
these messages carefully. safety message alerts you to potential hazards
that could hurt. You or others. Each safety message is preceded by a safety
alert symbol. Warning: In some cases, the engine is delivered without engine
oil. Please add the correct amount of engine oil before using the machine.
Water Pump Safety
- Please read the manual carefully before using the gasoline water pump set.
- Before operating, perform the pre-operation inspection to make your operation on the water pump safer.
- For the sake of safety, be sure not to pump inflammable or corrosive liquids (such as gasoline or acid). Similarly, be sure not to pump corrosive such as sea- water, chemical solutions, or alkaline liquids (used engine oil, alcohols and honey).
- Locate the water pump on a firm and leveled ground. A sloped or overturned water pump may result in fuel spilled out
- Operate the water pump in a well-ventilated place without fire resources and keep the water pump at least one meter from other devices.
- Because touching hot parts of the engine may get severe burns when operating the water pump keep children and pets far away from the operating site.
- Master the method to quickly stop the water pump; learn manipulation control devices Using the water pump without following the instructions in the manual must be avoided.
Warning: Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive in certain
conditions.
Filling gasoline in a well-ventilated place with a stalled engine. In gasoline
filling and storage sites, be sure there are no smoking and fire resources
such as flame, fire spark, and so on.
Do not spill gasoline out of the tank. After filling, make sure to tighten the
fuel tank cap.
When filling, avoid spilling gasoline out, for spilled gasoline and gasoline
vapor is prone to ignite. Once gasoline is spilled out, make sure to wipe it
up before the operation.
Do not run the engine in an enclosed room and poor-ventilated place, since
exhaust emissions from the engine contain toxic carbon monoxide (CO), which
may making people lose consciousness and even lead to death.

Pre-operation preparation
Connecting the water inlet pipe
Use a commercially available hose, hose joint, and clamp. The water inlet hose
must be of continuous and be non-folded. The length of the hose should be as
the same as or not more than that required. In this case, not far away from
the surface of the water supply, the water pump will arrive its optimal
performance. Self-suction time varies with the length of the water inlet hose
with a hose clamp, as shown in the diagram below.
Caution: Before pumping, install the filter securely to the end of the water
inlet hose. The filtrates any impurity, which may produce passage jam to
damaged impellers.
Be sure to install the hose joint and clamp well so as to prevent air leaks
and pumping performance drop; loose water inlet hose will decrease the water
pump performance and self-suction ability.
Note: tighten the hose clamp to avoid falling off under high pressure.
Connecting the water outlet hose
Use a commercially available hose, hose joint and clamp. A short hose with a
big diameter is the best. A long hose witha small diameter will increase
flowing resistance and decrease the power output of the water pump.
Engine oil and fuel check
Picture C: (1) Filler Cap/Dipstick (2) Upper Limit (3) Lower Limit Picture D:
(1) Maximum Fuel Level
The quality of the engine oil is one of the key factors in deciding engine
performance and service life. Not apply filthy engine oil or vegetable oil.
Be sure to checkthe engine oil level with the engine stalled and stand
vertically in level ground.
Use 4-stroke gasoline engine oil or engine oil equivalent in quality with SF,
SG from API. Oil velocity varies with average temperature, so engine oil with
proper velocity in accordance with your region temperature.
Other viscosities shown in the chart may be used when the average temperature
in your area is within the indicated range.
a) Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe it clean,
b) Insert the filler cap/dipstick into the oil filler neck, but do not screw
it in,
c) If the level is low, fill to the top of the oil filler neck with the
recommended oil.
Notice: Running the engine with insufficient oil can cause serious engine
damage.
- Remove the filler cap and check the fuel level.
- Refill the tank if the fuel level is low. Do not fill above the shoulder of the fuel strainer.
Warning: · Gasoline is extremely flammable and is explosive under certain conditions.
- Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where the engine id refueled or where gasoline is stored.
- Do not overfill the fuel when refueling. Spilled fuel or fuel vapour may ignite. If any fuel is spilled, make sure the area is dry before starting the engine.
- Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with skin or breathing of vapour.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!
Use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 95 or higher.
This engine is designed to operate on unleaded gasoline. Unleaded gasoline
produces fewer engine and spark plug deposits and extends exhaust life.
Warning: Fuel can damage the paint and some types of plastic. Be careful not
to spill fuel when filling your tank. Damage caused by spilling fuels not
covered under warranty.
Never use stale or contaminated gasoline or oil/gasoline mixture. Avoid
getting dirt or water in the fuel tank.
Occasionally you may hear a light “spark knock” or “pinging” (metallic rapping
noise) while operating under heavy loads. This in no cause for concern.
If spark knock or pinging occurs at a steady engine speed, under normal load,
change brands of gasoline. If spark knock or pinging persists, see an
authorized water pump dealer.
Warning: Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging can cause
engine damage.
Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging is misuse, and the
Distributor’s Limited Warranty does not cover parts damaged by misuse.
Checking the air cleaner filter element check
Loosen the wing nut and remove the air cleaner cover.
Check the air cleaner element to be sure it is clean and in good condition.
Clean or replace the element if necessary
Warning: Never run the engine without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear
will result from contaminants, such as dust and dirt being drawn into the
engine.
Water capacity check in the pump
Before operating the pump, make sure to fill the pump with enough water.
CAUTION: Do not try to run the engine without water inside, otherwise the pump
will become overheated. The prolonged running of the pump without water will
damage the pump gasket. If the water in the pump is used up, stall the engine
at once and fill the pump once it cools down.
Starting the engine
Picture E: (3) High (4) Low
-
Turn the fuel valve ON.
-
Close the choke lever.
Do not use the choke if the engine is warm or the ambient temperature is high. -
Turn the engine switch to the ON position.
-
Move the throttle lever downward slightly, just past the idle position.
-
Pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt, then pull it briskly.
Warning: Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine. Return it slowly to prevent damage to the starter.
Starting up in plateau regions
In plateaus or regions with high altitudes, a standard carburetor produces an
over-dense combination of fuel air, resulting in decreased engine performance
and increased fuel consumption. To keep the engine with high performance,
install a carburetor main spray nozzle and readjust the adjusting screw for
idle speed.
Using in plateau regions frequently with an altitude of over 1800m contact
your dealer for replace the carburetor and make adjustments in advance. Even
though a proper carburetor spray nozzle is installed in the engine, the power
output of the engine will drop about 3.5% with every 305mmis increase in alti-
Tue. If carburetor replacement and adjustment are not done, the “plateau-
effect” will be more severe than that done.
Operation
Using the water pump in regions with a lower altitude than the carburetor spray nozzle is applicable, the engine performance will decrease and become overheated, and over- thin combination of fuel and air produced may cause severe damage of the engine.
- Start and warm up the engine, and then open the choke gradually.
- Set the throttle valve in accordance with the specified rational speed.
Stopping the engine
In case of emergency:
To stop the engine in an emergency, turn the engine switch to the OFF
position. In normal use:
- Move the throttle lever to the SLOW position
- Turn the engine switch to the OFF position
- Turn the fuel valve OFF.
Maintenance
To keep the water pump at optimal performance, checking and adjustment on it
periodically is necessary.
Regular maintenance and service may extend its service life obviously. The
Maintenance Schedule below specifies how often you should have your water pump
served, and what things need attention.
Warning: Before maintenance and service, stall the engine. If maintaining when
the engine runs, make sure to perform any check in a well-ventilated area.
Exhaust emissions from the engine contain toxic carbon monoxide (CO), which
may cause loss of consciousness and even life.
Caution: If the water pump is applied to pump sea water, please pump
freshwater immediately! Instead after pumping seawater so as to diminish sign
of corrosion and to make away seawater deposits.
Changing the engine oil
Drain the oil while the engine is still warm to assure rapid and complete
draining.
- Remove the oil filler cap/ dipstick and drain plug to drain the oil.
- Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.
- Refill with the recommended oil to the specified level
Engine oil tank capacity: 0.35Littres
Please dispose of used motor oil in a manner that is compatible with the
environment. We suggest you take it in a sealed container to your local
recycling center or service station for reclamation. Do not throw it in the
trash or pour it on the ground.
Air Cleaner maintenance instructions
A dirty air cleaner will restrict airflow to the carburetor. To prevent
carburetor malfunction, service the air cleaner regularly. Service more
frequently when operating the pump in extremely dusty areas.
Warning: Never use gasoline or low flash point solvents for cleaning the
air cleaner element. A fire or explosion could result.
Never run the engine without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will result
from contaminants, such as dust and dirt being drawn into the engine.
- Unscrew the wing nut, remove the air cleaner cover and remove the foam element.
- Wash the element in a solution of household detergent and warm water, then rinse thoroughly, or wash in non-flammable or high flash point solvent. Allow the element to dry thoroughly.
- Soak the element in dean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil. The engine will smoke during initial start-up if too much oil is left in the element.
- Reinstall the air cleaner element and the cover.
Spark plug maintenance instructions
In order to service the spark plug, you will need a spark plug wrench
(commercially available).
Recommended spark plug: F7TC/F7RTC
To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be properly gapped and
free of deposits.
Warning: If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot. Be
careful not to touch the muffler.
- Remove the spark plug cap.
- Clean any dirt from around the spark plug base.
- Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
- Visually inspect the spark plug. Discard it if the insulator is cracked or chipped. Clean the spark plug with a wire brush if it is to be reused.
- Measure the plug gap with a feeler gauge. Correct as necessary by carefully bending the side electrode. The gap should be: (0.70-0.80mm)
- Check that the spark plug washer is in good condition, and thread the spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading.
After the spark plug is seated, tighten with a spark plug wrench to compress
the washer.
If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats to
compress the washer. If reinstalling a used spark plug, tighten 1/8-1/4 turn
after the spark plug seats to compress the washer.
Notice: The spark plug must be securely tightened.
An improperly tightened spark plug can become very hot and could damage the
engine.
Never use spark plugs that have an improper heat range. Use only the
recommended spark plugs or equivalent.
Transportation/storage
Warning: To avoid a fire, make sure to cool the water pump down
thoroughly before transportation or storage in the room.
Transport the water pump with the fuel cock turned off, besides, keep it
horizontal to prevent fuel from spilling. Spilled gasoline and gasoline vapor
may ignite.
-
Make sure the storage site for the water pump is dry and clean.
-
Clean the water pump inside.
If the water pump is used to pump water mud, sand or heavy debris, a deposit of such may remain inside it. Before storage, operate the water pump to suck into fresh water to wash, otherwise, the impeller may be damaged once reuse. After finishing washing, drive off the water drain plug, then empty the water in the pump thoroughly, and reinstall the water drain plug. -
Empty fuel inside the fuel tank.
a. Set the fuel cock to OFF, drive off the fuel drain plug of the carburetor floater room, and drain out the fuel in the carburetor. Hold drained gasoline in a proper container.
b. Set the fuel cock to ON.
c. Reinstall the fuel drain plug of the carburetor floater room.
4. Replace engine oil. -
Dismantle the spark plug, and fill clean specified engine oil into the cylinder about one soup spoon. Turn the engine several times to distribute oil evenly and then reinstall the spark plug.
-
Pull the starter handle until feels anti-action, and then continues pulling until the triangle mark on the starter wheel lines up with the starter screw hole. In this location, both the air inlet and exhaust valves are closed, which may prevent the engine inside from rusting.
-
Cover the water pump to protect it from dust.
