Intended Use

This device is intended to remove unwanted hair growth and cause permanent hair reduction in the long run. Permanent hair reduction is defined as a long- term stable reduction in the number of hairs growing after treatment.
You can use this method to remove unwanted body hair. Ideal body areas for treatment include forearms, bikini line, arms, legs, face (below the cheekbone), back, shoulders and chest. Do not use it for any other purpose than hair removal as described in this user manual.

Safety

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology in this device provides first-class security due to its lower energy expenditure. This device achieves long-term results for hair removal with a fraction of the energy used in other light- based hair removal equipment.

The low energy consumption reduces the risk of injury or complications and contributes to your overall safety. This device has additional features to protect your eyes, since the light pulses are only active when the treatment surface is in full contact with the skin.
Your skin is never in direct contact with the optical lens that transmits the light pulses. Do not look directly at the IPL device flash glass or try turning on the device while pointing it at your eyes. This is to protect yourself and others.
Do not use the product in the same area more than once a week. This will not give better or faster results and can cause damage to your skin.

Do not use IPL if …

  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age.
  • You want to treat an area that is not suitable for IPL (see below).
  • You have had or have skin cancer.
  • You have had self-tanning or you have recently sunbathed for several hours.
  • You have a chronic disease or chronic skin disease.
  • You have damaged skin in the treatment area.
  • You have varicose veins in the treatment area.
  • You are sensitive to sunlight due to medication or not.
  • You have just done an exfoliation in the selected treatment area.

If the conditions listed above apply to you, do not use an IPL-device, as it may damage your skin or make your condition worse. If you are unsure if IPL is safe for your use, or use medication you must talk to your doctor about whether your medicine makes you sensitive to IPL-light.

Precautions

  • The device is intended for only one single user.
  • It is not intended for use by people under 18 years of age.
  • People with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, can use the device if they have received supervision or instructions on the safe use of the device and understand the potential dangers involved.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device. Always keep the device out of the reach of children.

Electricity and Fire Safety

Always check the help and wires regularly for visible signs on injury. Do not use the equipment if damage or cracks occur on the device. Electric shock can occur when using a damaged device. In case of error, the equipment must be inspected and repaired by an authorized service center. Unqualified repair work can lead to extreme hazards on the user. Always unplug the device after use.

Danger
Never attempt to repair or open the unit, as this may expose you to dangerous electrical components and pulsating light energy that can cause serious bodily injury and permanent eye damage. Do not use in or near water and wet surfaces such as bathtubs, showers, washbasins or containers that may contain water. If the unit gets wet, it should not be used. Electric shock can occur if you use the device in a wet condition. Do not use if the device is damaged (eg cracked cover, line damage, etc.). Internal parts contain electrical charges which are dangerous. Do not use if the glass filter (9) is cracked or missing. Inspect the glass filter regularly for damage. Do not touch the glass filter during or immediately after use, as it gets hot. Do not use petroleum- based or flammable cleaning agents (alcohol, acetones) on the device, as these pose a fire hazard. Do not use heavy-duty cleaners. These can damage the device or scrape the glass filter. Do not attempt to use this device for anything other than for to remove unwanted hair. Do not use the device on any surface other than skin. Do not press the treatment button when the treatment window is not in full contact with the skin. Do not block the ventilation openings. The device can overheat and pose a risk of electric shock or fire.

Preparation before use

Make sure the skin you need to treat is free of hair, skin cream and the like. The skin must also be dry before starting treatment. For removal of facial hair prior to the use we recommend napping, and using a razor were needed. NB! Note that the device becomes hot during use.

How to turn on the device
Use the mains cable to connect the device to an electrical outlet. On the side without the gold button, briefly and gently press the green button to start the device. A fan will start and the appliance is ready for use. From the start, two lights on the front panel will be lit, one blue and one pink. When the device is in contact with skin and ready to zap the pink light will turn off. Conversely, it will be lit when the device is not in contact with the skin

Choose the right intensity
The device is set to the lowest intensity by default, and it is level 1. In your first session after a skin test, you should try to increase your strength to maximum strength which is 5. The skin test is explained below. If maximum strength is uncomfortable, then you can go down in strength and rather move up again in the next session. For best results, we recommend using maximum strength for 12 weeks, as this will give the best effect.

Skin Test
Before the first treatment, we recommend that you test the device on one small area of skin to check your reaction. The area should be approx. 2 x 3 cm in size and it corresponds to the size of two flashes, side by side. Wait 48 hours to examine the test area. If your skin looks normal, start the first treatment. If you experience a skin reaction, you must stop using the device and consult your doctor. Avoid treating the tested area for at least one week after the test.

Treatment Plan
The start-up phase is 12 weeks and during this period you should perform treatment once a week. If you see good results within 12 weeks, you can stop and go into maintenance mode. In maintenance mode you treat the desired area every 1-2 months, based on your needs. The typical hair growth cycle varies from person to person, and that can take up to 16 weeks, depending on body area (forearm, lower leg, bikini area). Only hair in a growth-phase is susceptible to light treatment, thus it is important to perform several treatments to achieve continuous smooth skin.

Face Treatment, only for women

  • Before treating your face, make sure you have performed a skin test. Remove hair and cosmetics, creams and serums from the area.

  • Before pressing the treatment button, close your eyes or look away to avoid bright light.

  • Avoid treating the same area twice, as this may increase the chance of side effects.

  • Avoid contact with lips and nostrils when treating the upper lip area. The central area under the nostrils can be sensitive.
TIP: You can squeeze your lips together to ensure that the light does not activate on the upper lip itself.

  • Hair growth under the chin can be denser and coarser. This can sometimes cause slight skin redness after a treatment. This redness is temporary and should disappear completely after 24 hours.

NOTE

  • If redness or a burning sensation occurs and lasts for several minutes, use a cool cloth/pillow to soothe the area.
  • If you observe pigment changes, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, you must stop using the device. Seek medical advice to find the cause, it may be due to one underlying medical condition.

After Treatment

When you have finished the treatment, disconnect the power supply from the electrical outlet. We recommend avoiding exposure to artificial light sources, such as solariums. Avoid activity or skin products that may irritate your skin for 24 hours hours after treatment. This includes the use of a whirlpool or sauna, use of tight-fitting clothing, use of bleaching creams, perfumed products or peeling products. The above can cause irritation, such as itching and redness, on the treated areas.

Potential Side Effects

Some people will experience a certain level of discomfort, e.g. heat, redness or tingling in the skin when using the device – this is normal. Reactions usually disappear within 24 hours. The side effects are usually instant or appear within 24 hours. In rare cases, it can take up to 72 hours before they are displayed. Contact your doctor if you experience abnormal skin reactions.

  • Warm or tingling sensation during treatment usually disappear after a few seconds up to a minute and decreases by continuing the use. This is expected and normal for all IPL treatments. You can continue to use the device as described.
  • Intense pain or discomfort during treatment, or persisting pain after a treatment. If this happens stop using the device and consult your doctor before using it again.
  • Redness during or after treatment that disappears in minutes or up to several hours. This is expected and normal for all IPL treatments. You can continue to use the device as instructed when the redness of the skin has disappeared.
If the redness does not disappear within 24 – 48 hours after treatment, stop using the device and consult your doctor before using it again.

Potential side effects in very rare cases

  • Swelling and redness around the hair follicle that disappears within two or three days. You can continue to use the device as instructed when swelling and/or redness around the hair follicle has disappeared.
  • Swelling and redness around the hair follicle that does not disappear within two to three days. Stop using the device and consult your doctor before using it again.
  • Temporary changes in skin color (lighter or darker). If your skin color changes, you must stop using the device and consult your doctor.
  • Increase in hair growth in treatment areas (more likely to be seen in people from the Mediter- ranean, the Middle East and Southeast Asia).
  • If this increase persists over several treatments, you will need to stop using the device and consult your doctor.
