TIPS

  • A lot of fruit needs grinding or crushing to produce as much juice as possible. The fruit grinder can be used to grind berries, apples, pears, potatoes and other soft fruit and vegetables. The fruit grinder is not suitable for processing hard fruits and vegetables, such as sugar beets or carrots, unripe fruit or fruit wth large and/or hard stones.
  • Ground apples, pears, quinces and similar fruits are especially suitable for further processing. Iheir relatively solid flesh grinds well and the resulting pulp means that more juice can be pressed out of the fruit.
  • Grapes, raspberries, and raisins should not normally be ground, and neither should stone fruit. Grinding is not necessary for fruit that is soft and covered by a thin peel. Ground or crushed stone fruit produces a bitter taste and turns the juice dark brown.
  • For best results, only use fresh, ripe and undamaged fruit. Remove overripe, unripe, rotten and damaged fruit. Do not use fruit with rotting patches or mold. Damaged windfalls can be used, as long as they have not begun to rot. Wash the fruit well before processing, so that no contaminants get into the pulp.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING
Clean the fruit grinder with running water and a suitable brush after use and before long pauses. The fruit grinder can be swilled with a water hose or the equivalent. Carefully clean between the rollers.

STORAGE
Lubricate the bearings at regular intervals, especially if the fruit grinder is not going to be used for some time. Apply a thin layer of cooking oil on the metal surtaces to provide protection from corrosion.
