  4. Do not attempt to alter the unit in any manner.

  5. Never replace or substitute the regulator with any regulator other than the factory-suggested replacement.

  6. Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors or liquids in the heater unit.

  7. The whole gas system, hose, regulator, pilot, or burner should be inspected for leaks or damage before use, and at least annually by a qualified service person.

  8. All leak tests should be done with a soap solution. Never use an open flame to check for leaks. Do not use the heater until all connections have been leak-tested.
G21 Inferno Gas Patio Heater - Figure 2

  9. Turn off the gas valve immediately if the smell of gas is detected. Turn Cylinder Valve OFF. If the leak is at the Hose/Regulator connection: tighten the connection and perform another leak test. If bubbles continue appearing should be returned to the hose’s place of purchase. If the leak is at Regulator/ Cylinder Valve connection: disconnect, reconnect, and perform another leak check. If you continue to see bubbles after several attempts, the cylinder valve is defective and should be returned to the cylinder’s place of purchase.

  10. Do not transport the heater while it’s operating.

  11. Do not move the heater after it has been turned off until the temperature has cooled down.

  12. Keep the ventilating holes empty and debris-free.

  13. Do not paint the radiant screen, control panel, or top canopy reflector.

  14. The control compartment, burner, and circulation air passageways of the heater must be kept clean.

  15. Frequent cleaning may be required as necessary.

  16. The LP tank should be turned off when the heater is not in use.

  17. Check the heater immediately if any of the following occurs:
    • The heater does not reach temperature.
    • The burner makes a popping noise during use (a slight noise is normal when the burner is extinguished).
    • Smell of gas in conjunction with extreme yellow tipping of the burner flames.

  18. The LP regulator/hose assembly must be located out of pathways where people may trip over it or in an area where the hose will not be subject to accidental damage.

  19. Any guard or other protective device removed for servicing the heater must be replaced before operating the heater.

  20. Adults and children should stay away from high-temperature surfaces to avoid burns or clothing ignition.

  21. Children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of the heater.

  22. Clothing or other flammable materials should not be hung on the heater or placed on or near the heater.

  23. If you want to change the gas hose, keep in mind it needs to be 60 cm long.

  24. Use 10 kg gas cylinders with safety valves for this appliance only.

  25. To change the gas cylinder in an amply ventilated area, away from any ignition source (candle, cigarettes, other flame-producing appliances).

  26. Check if the regulator is secured firmly as shown in the picture.

  27. Keep the ventilating holes always open.

  28. Close the gas supply each time you turn the appliance off.

  29. In the event of gas leakage, the appliance shall not be used or if alighted, the gas supply shall be shut off and the appliance shall be investigated and rectified before it is used again.

  30. Check the hose at least once per month, each time the cylinder is changed or each time before a long time no use. If it shows signs of cracking, splitting, or other deterioration it shall be exchanged for a new hose of the same length and of the equivalent quality.

Gas requirements

Use LPG, propane, butane, or propane/butane mixture gas tanks only. The maximum inlet pressure of the propane regulator must not exceed 100 PSI. The installation must conform to local standards. In the absence of these standards, it must conform to the standard for storage and handling liquid petroleum gases. A dented, rusty or damaged tank may be hazardous and should be checked by your tank supplier. Never use a tank with a damaged valve connection. The tank must be arranged to provide for vapor withdrawal from the operating cylinder. Never connect an unregulated tank to this appliance.

Leakage test

Gas connections on the heater are leak tested at the factory prior to shipment. A complete gas tightness check must be performed at the installation site due to possible mishandling in shipment or excessive pressure being applied to the heater.

  • Make a soap solution of one part liquid detergent and one part water. The soap solution can be applied with a spray bottle, brush, or rag. Soap bubbles will appear in case of a leak.

  • The heater must be checked with a full cylinder.

  • Make sure the safety control valve is in the OFF position.
G21 Inferno Gas Patio Heater - Figure 3

  • Turn the gas supply ON.

  • In case of a leak, turn off the gas supply. Tighten any leaking fittings, then turn the gas supply on and recheck.

  • Never leak test while smoking.

  • Any gas odor should be a signal for you to undertake safety steps while being careful.

  • Do not do anything that could lead to an open flame (don’t use matches. lighters, etc.), and do not touch electric sockets/switchgear.

Operation and storage

To turn on the appliance:

  1. Turn on the valve on the gas supply cylinder completely.
  2. Push the control knob in and turn it to, the, PILOT” position.
  3. Press and hold the control knob for 90 seconds. To light the pilot flame, press the IGNITION button several times after 60 seconds, until blue light shows. Once the light is constant, release the control knob button and set your desired temperature.
    • If a new tank has been connected, please allow the air to purge out through the pilot hole for at least a minute.
    • When lighting the pilot flame, make sure the variable control knob is continuously pressed down while pressing the ignition button.
    • Pilot flame can be watched and checked from the small round window with a sliding lid located at the bottom of the flame screen (to the left or right side of the controller).
    • If the pilot flame does not light or it goes out, repeat step 3 (a 5-minute complete shut-off period is necessary before relighting).

To turn off the appliance:

  • Turn the control knob to the PILOT position
  • Push and turn the control knob to the OFF position.
  • Turn the regulator connected to the gas cylinder to the OFF position.

Troubleshooting

Service and maintaining
Periodic maintenance should be performed at intervals not exceeding 6 months or when an obvious fault occurs, i.e. flame burning abnormality or burner discoloration. These are general signs of gas supply blockage or blocked burner ports. To clean the burner ports, remove the reflector assembly by removing three nuts at the top of the reflector. The mesh screen may then be extracted by removing four retention screws at the base of the mesh screen and four screws at the top of the screen. Remove two screws retaining the burner assembly, rotate the burner assembly slightly then remove the burner assembly upwards. Care should be always taken to avoid damage to the gas piping and ignition lead. The burner and mesh screen may then be cleaned by compressed air. Assembly is a reversal of the above steps.
If the PILOT is blocked by debris, spider webs, etc., the pilot flame might be small and the flame failure device may have not heated up enough for the main burner to work. If this happens it is necessary to clean the pilot and its gas tube.
To clean the PILOT, remove the burner and pilot cover as detailed above, and inspect the pilot injector and tubing for blockage. If obstructed, clean with compressed air. Clean the flame failure device as well. Assembly is a reversal of the above steps.
