PREPARE CONTROLLER
Before using the vehicle, make sure that the esc is set according to the desired battery configuration. If you are using a NiMH battery, place the jumper on the pins in the right field according to the picture. If you are using a LiPo battery, place the jumpers on the pins in the left-hand field. Normally, leave the mode setting in crawler mode F/R (Forward/Reverse). Alternatively, you can set the modes to F/B/R (Forward/Brake/Reverse) or F/B (Forward/Brake). Further information on the ESC setup can be found on page 15.
PAIRING TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
The remote control and the receiver are already connected when delivered. If it should be necessary to reconnect them, proceed as described below.
- Switch on the remote control, the indicator light flashes.
- Press and hold the bind button on the receiver and switch on the control unit. The indicator light on the receiver now flashes.
- Now operate the steering wheel on the remote control.
- The indicator lights on the remote control and the receiver light up continuously. The connection has been established.
- If the connection has not been established, carry out steps 1-4 again.
SWITCH ON
- Switch on the remote control. Make sure that the indicator light is flashing.
- Switch on the vehicle and operate the throttle trigger or the steering wheel. The indicator light on the remote control now lights up continuously.
- Pull the throttle back slightly to check that the vehicle is moving forward.
- Operate the steering wheel to the left and right to check that the steering works.
- Place the vehicle on the ground and check if the steering trim needs to be adjusted.
ESC PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS
LOW VOLTAGE CUT-OFF
If the voltage is lower than the threshold for 2 seconds, the safety function
switches on. When the first trip point is reached, the motor slows down and
when the 2nd trip point is reached, the motor is switched off. The red LED
then flashes to let you know that the low voltage cut-off is
activated.
In all cases, we recommend that you stop using the battery if the vehicle slows down noticeably to protect it. Charge or replace the battery before continuing to use the vehicle.
- OVERHEATING PROTECTION If the esc temperature is higher than 100° C, the esc switches off and the red LED flashes. A restart is only possible when the esc has cooled down to 80° C.
- PROTECTION IN CASE OF SIGNAL LOSS If the radio signal is lost for longer than 0.1 seconds, the controller switches off.
ESC PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS
SETTING THE THROTTLE RANGE
Switch on the remote control and set the Max. Speed to 100%. Switch on the
remote control, move the throttle stick to the neutral position and then wait
for 3 seconds until the self-calibration of the throttle range is completed; a
beep will sound when the self-calibration is successfully
completed.
PROGRAMMABLE ITEMS
- Running mode: 3 options (F / B / R, F / B, F / R). The “F / B / R” option is the default setting. F=Forward, B=Brake, R=Reverse The “F / B / R” mode indicates that the vehicle can drive forwards and backward and brake. This mode uses the “double-click” method to reverse the vehicle. When you move the throttle stick from the neutral zone to the reverse zone for the first time, the ESC starts to slow down the engine but continues to run so that reverse is NOT executed immediately. When the throttle stick is moved into the reverse zone again and the engine speed drops to zero (i.e. is stopped), the reverse movement is executed. This “double-click” method prevents accidental reversing of the action if the brake function is frequently used when steering. This mode is therefore frequently used in daily practice. In “F / B” mode, the vehicle can brake forwards but not reverse, so this mode is often used in competitions. The “F / R” mode uses the “single-click” method to reverse the vehicle; when you move the throttle from the neutral zone to the reverse zone, the vehicle immediately reverses. This mode is normally used for rock crawlers.
- Battery type : 2 options (Lipo, NiMH), “Lipo” is the default option.
OPERATION
STEERING
Turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right, the wheels turn in
proportion to the steering wheel turning in the desired
direction.
DRIVING FORWARD
Pull the throttle lever backward. The vehicle moves forward in proportion to
the travel of the throttle lever.
DRIVING BACKWARDS
Push the throttle lever forward. The vehicle moves backwards in proportion to
the travel of the throttle lever.
MAINTAIN
- When you are not using the vehicle, remove the battery.
- Remove any dirt such as sand, mud after use. This can otherwise damage the mechanics in the long run. Dry wet parts as quickly as possible to avoid corrosion.
- External metal parts should be treated regularly with WD40 etc. to prevent rust.
- Store the car batteries separately when not in use.
