PREPERATION FOR SAILING

Before sailing your sailboat for the first time, always switch on the remote control before switching on the receiver and always switch off the receiver before switching off the transmitter.
Follow the process below to check the steering and boat functions:

  1. The BINARY is supplied with a 2.4 GHz 4-channel remote control. Note the functions of the transmitter.
  2. When the sail control stick is in position A, the main boom and jib boom should be in position A as shown. When the stick is in position B, the boom should move to position B.
  3. You may need to neutralise the sail servo position by pressing the sail trim buttons up or down.
  4. With the rudder control stick, when the stick is pushed to the left, the rudder should move to the left. When pressed to the right, the rudder should move to the right.
  5. The rudder neutral position can also be set with the trim buttons to the left or right.AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran- \(22\) AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran- \(23\)
  6. Adjust the silicone ring on the center spar so that the jib boom is pulled taut.
  7. Push the left stick to the lowest position. This causes the winch servo to pull the jib boom cord and the main boom cord taut.
  8. Adjust the position of the silicone ring on the main boom so that the main boom is on the centerline of the crossbeam when the winch servo pulls the main boom cord taut.AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran- \(24\)
  9. Adjust the silicone ring on the boom so that the rear end of the jib boom is 15-20mm away from the mast when the winch servo pulls the boom cord taut.
  10. Push the left-hand control stick up to the highest position to check whether the mainsail and jib open freely or not.
  11. Finally, glue the two PVC hatches to the recesses on the hull deck.AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran- \(25\)

When the boat reaches a dangerous pitch angle in gusty winds, the built-in intelligent angle detection system automatically releases the sails and the boat returns to the correct position. The intelligent sail control significantly minimises capsizing.AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran-

SAILING THE BINARY

Unlike propeller-driven boats, which you can stop and accelerate, sailing boats present an interesting challenge. Sailing requires constant reaction to water movement, gusts of wind and changes in wind direction. These influences then require you to adjust your rudder and sail position to achieve the best possible course. There is no substitute for experience “on the water” and after the initial tests, you may wish to re-read this manual to gain a better understanding of the “art” of sailing. When learning to sail, it is useful to pick up as much sailing terminology as possible. This will make it easier for you to understand some aspects.

HOW TO SAIL ORION

AMEWi-26107-Binary-V3-Segelcatamaran- \(28\)

  1. Sail the Binary only on still waters. Never sail your boat on flowing waters, such as streams or rivers, where it is easy to lose control of your boat.
  2. Do not sail the Binary in strong winds.
  3. Never try to swim to a boat that is stuck! Wait patiently for the wind currents to bring the boat back to shore.
  4. After sailing, remove the deck patches and allow the inside of the boat to dry out completely. Failure to do so may result in corrosion of the electronic components.
