TECHNOLOGY
CONNECTED VEHICLE
A connected vehicle has technology that allows your vehicle to connect to a
mobile network and to access a range of features.
When used in conjunction with the FordPass app, this technology could allow
you to monitor and control your vehicle further, for example, checking the
tire pressures, the charge level and the vehicle location. For additional
information, refer to the local Ford website.
The modem has a SIM. The modem was enabled when your vehicle was built and
periodically sends messages to stay connected to the cell phone network,
receive automatic software updates and send vehicle-related information to us,
forexample, diagnostic information. These messages could include information
that identifies your vehicle, the SIM and the electronic serial number of the
modem. Cell phone network service providers could have access to additional
information, for example, cell phone network tower identification. For
additional information about our privacy policy, visit
www.FordConnected.com or refer to your local
Ford website.
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM
The blind spot information system detects vehicles that may have entered the blind spot zone. It uses sensors on both sides of your vehicle, detecting rearward from the exterior mirrors to approximately 13 ft (4 m) beyond the rear bumper. The detection area extends to approximately 59 ft (18 m) beyond the rear bumper when the vehicle speed is greater than 30 mph (48 km/h) to alert you of faster approaching vehicles. The blind spot information system turns on when you start your vehicle, shift into drive (D) and your vehicle reaches a speed greater than 6 mph (10 km/h). The blind spot information system does not operate in park (P) or reverse (R). The system may not alert you if a vehicle quickly passes through the detection zone. To switch the blind spot information system on and off:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- Press Driver Assistance.
- Switch Blind Spot Information System on or off.
If you switch the blind spot information system off, a warning lamp illuminates and a message displays. When you switch the system on or off, the alert indicators flash twice. The system remembers the last setting when you start your vehicle.
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
The system alerts you of vehicles approaching from the sides behind your
vehicle when you shift into reverse (R). To switch cross traffic alert on and
off:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- Press Driver Assistance.
- Switch Cross Traffic Alert on or off.
PRE-COLLISION ASSIST
If your vehicle is rapidly approaching another stationary vehicle, a vehicle traveling in the same direction as yours, or a pedestrian or cyclist within your driving path, the system provides alerts or aids in preventing a collision. The system uses a camera and radar to detect if a collision is about to occur. Automatic emergency braking may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent. The system may help the driver reduce impact damage or to completely avoid the crash. The system is active at speeds above 3 mph (5 km/h) and pedestrian and cyclist detection is active at speeds up to 50 mph (80 km/h). Refer to the Pre-Collision Assist chapter in your Owner’s Manual for more information.
BLUECRUISE
BlueCruise is an advanced driver assistance feature that enables hands-free
highway driving on divided highways across North America.
BlueCruise Setup:
- Enable BlueCruise through the touchscreen in the Driver Assistance menu by selecting Cruise Control and Lane Centering with Hands-Free.
- Make sure that lane centering is turned on. If not, press the lane centering button on the steering wheel to enable it.
Using BlueCruise on the road:
- Activate BlueCruise by pressing the Adaptive Cruise Control button on the steering wheel.
- Your instrument panel will turn blue when you enter a hands-free zone and the hands-free graphic appears.
- You can then take your hands off the wheel, while keeping your eyes on the road.
While in use, the system monitors your eyes and head position to detect if you are distracted. If the system determines you are distracted, it uses prompts in the speedometer cluster and a chime to remind you to watch the road. Eventually, if you do not respond to the warnings, the vehicle will slow to a low speed. When an external condition cancels BlueCruise, for example, no lane markings available, a tone sounds and a message appears in the instrument cluster. The icon on the cluster changes to a wheel with hands on indicating that you should put your hands back on the wheel.
BlueCruise Features:
Vehicles equipped with the latest version of BlueCruise have additional
hands-free capability, including:
- Lane Change Assist – tap your turn signal to initiate a hands-free lane switch.
- In-Lane Repositioning – helps provide more space by subtly shifting away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.
- Predictive Speed Assist – on select curves, BlueCruise can automatically and smoothly adjust your vehicle’s speed For additional system information, settings and limitations, see your Owner’s Manual. For more information about BlueCruise and available versions, visit ford.com/bluecruise.
BlueCruise requires a Connected Service plan that provides regular map updates, FordPass App, and modem activation. Ford BlueCruise-equipped vehicles come with either a 90-day trial or a 3-year BlueCruise Connected Service plan, after which purchase is required. See ford.com/bluecruise for BlueCruise version details. See the Connected Services section of your Ford Account for your BlueCruise Connected Service plan status and available plan options.
REAR PARKING AID
Rear parking sensors detect objects behind your vehicle when your vehicle is
in reverse (R) and the vehicle speed is less than 5 mph (8 km/h). The sensor
coverage area is up to 71 in (180 cm) from the rear bumper. There is a
decreased coverage area at the outer corners. The rear parking aid detects
large objects when you shift into reverse (R) and any of the following occur:
- Your vehicle is moving backward at a low speed.
- Your vehicle is stationary or moving slowly backward and an object is approaching the rear of your vehicle at a low speed.
A warning tone sounds when your vehicle approaches an object. As your vehicle moves closer to an object, the rate of the tone increases. The warning tone continuously sounds when an object is 12 in (30 cm) or less from the center of the rear bumper. If your vehicle remains stationary for a few seconds, the audible warning turns off. If your vehicle moves backward, the tone sounds again.
SIDE PARKING AID
The front and rear outermost parking aid sensors detect objects that are near
the sides of your vehicle. When the side parking aid detects an object within
the coverage area and the driving path of your vehicle, an audible warning
sounds. As the object moves closer to your vehicle, the rate of the tone
increases.
The side parking aid may not function if:
- Your vehicle is in park (P).
- The steering wheel angle information is not available.
- Your vehicle remains stationary for over two minutes.
- The anti-lock brake or traction control system activates. Refer to the Parking Aids chapter in your Owner’s Manual for more information.
FRONT PARKING AID
The front parking aid sensors are active when the electric motor is in any
position other than park (P) and the vehicle speed is less than 5 mph (8
km/h). The sensor coverage area is up to 28 in (70 cm) from the center of the
bumper. If the vehicle is in reverse (R), the front parking aid detects
objects when your vehicle is moving at a low speed or an object is moving
toward your vehicle. If the vehicle is in any forward gear, the front parking
aid provides audible warnings and visual indication when your vehicle is
moving at a speed of 5 mph (8 km/h) or below and the system detects an object
within the detection zone. A warning tone sounds. As your vehicle moves closer
to an object, the rate of the tone increases. The warning tone continuously
sounds when an object is 12 in (30 cm) or less from the front bumper. Refer to
the Parking Aids chapter in your Owner’s Manual for more information.
POST CRASH ALERT SYSTEM
The system helps draw attention to your vehicle in the event of a serious
impact.
The system is designed to turn the hazard flashers on, turn the courtesy lamps
on, intermittently sound the horn and unlock all doors in the event of a
serious impact that deploys an airbag or the seatbelt pretensioners. The horn
may or may not sound in the event of a serious impact depending on applicable
laws.
Press the hazard flasher switch, the unlock or panic button on the remote
control, or power off and start the vehicle to switch the system off.
REVERSE BRAKING ASSIST
Reverse braking assist uses sensors on the rear of your vehicle to reduce
impact damage or completely avoid a collision when your vehicle is in reverse
(R). The system applies the brakes for a short period of time when an event
occurs. A message and warning indicator appear when the system applies the
brakes.
The driver should take action as soon as they notice the brakes apply to

- Turning off stability control.
Releasing the accelerator pedal may not bring your vehicle to a complete stop at high speeds and steep grades. To switch one pedal drive on and off:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- From the controls menu, switch one pedal drive on or off.
NOTE: This system does not automatically brake your vehicle. You still need to apply your brakes when necessary.

The rear view camera provides a video image of the area behind your vehicle
when the vehicle is in reverse (R). The rear view camera is on the liftgate.
Objects in the red zone are closest to your vehicle and objects in the green
zone are farther away.
To switch the rear view camera delay on and off:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- Press Driver Assistance.
- Switch Rear View Camera Delay on or off.
Refer to the Rear View Camera chapter in your Owner’s Manual for more information.
ESSENTIAL FEATURES
ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE
Use the electric parking brake to hold your vehicle on slopes and flat roads.
The switch is on the center console.
To apply the brake, pull the switch up and release it. To use the electric
parking brake to slow or stop your vehicle in an emergency, pull the switch up
and hold it.
AUTO HOLD
Auto hold applies the brakes to hold your vehicle after you stop it and
release the brake pedal. This can help when waiting on a hill or in traffic.
To switch auto hold on and off:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- Press Driver Assistance.
- Switch Auto Hold on or off.
NOTE: You can only switch the system on after you close the driver door and power on the vehicle. The system remembers the last setting when you power on your vehicle. Make sure you switch the system off before towing with your vehicle or before using an automatic car wash.
TRACTION CONTROL
The traction control system helps avoid drive wheel spin and loss of traction.
If your vehicle begins to slide, the system applies the brakes to individual
wheels and, when needed, reduces power at the same time. The traction control
system turns on each time you switch the vehicle on. To switch the traction
control off, press the button on the instrument panel.
If your vehicle is stuck in mud or snow, switching traction control off may be
beneficial as this allows the wheels to spin.
VEHICLE SOFTWARE UPDATES
Your vehicle is set up to receive over-the-air updates that can add new
features and enhance existing ones. Connecting to Wi-Fi may be required for
some updates and may make them download faster.
To make sure you get the latest upgrades as soon and as easily as possible,
get started with the steps below.
Make sure vehicle connectivity and automatic updates are switched on and that
your vehicle is connected to Wi-Fi, if available.
To set a schedule:
- Press the button on the touchscreen.
- Press Software Updates.
- Press Schedule Updates.
- Use the controls to set the days and time for updates.
- Press Save.
Refer to the Vehicle Software Updates chapter in your Owner’s
Manual for more information.
REAR WINDOW BUFFETING
To reduce wind noise or pulsing noise when one window is open, slightly
open the opposite window.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
The tire pressure monitoring system allows you to view the tire pressure
readings through the touchscreen. When one or more of your tires are
underinflated, your vehicle illuminates the low tire pressure warning light in
the digital display. If this happens, stop and check your tires as soon as
possible. Inflate them to the proper pressure.
Refer to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System section in your Owner’s Manual
for more information.
TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
You cannot recreationally tow your vehicle with all wheels on the ground.
Doing so could cause vehicle or electric drive motor damage. You must
recreationally tow your vehicle with all four wheels off the ground, such as
when using a car-hauling trailer.
If your vehicle becomes inoperable and must be towed, see the Towing your
Vehicle chapter of your Owner’s Manual for instructions, limitations and
precautions.
