OPERATION

  1. Fill the water tank with cold water up to the MAX mark on the deposit.

  2. Connect the plug to a socket that has a suitable voltage.

  3. Press the power button. Next, the indicator light will turn on and the espresso machine will automatically start to preheat. Once the preheating process is completed, all buttons will light up steadily. The preheating process takes about 2 minutes.

  4. Put a cup under the steamer. Turn the steam regulator knob. Let hot water run out of the This process allows the water to pass through to the pump the first time it is used.
ATTENTION: the first time you use the espresso machine it may make a loud noise or vibrate. This is normal for a 20 bar pressure pump. When you use it again, it will make less noise.

  5. Put the filter in the filter holder.
ATTENTION: you may find it a little difficult to remove the filter from the filter holder when you want to change it. You can use another filter for leverage.

  6. Insert the filter holder without ground coffee into the upper part of the espresso machine by making a 45° movement to the left and turn it back to the right until it clicks into position. The filter holder must be perpendicular to the machine or slightly inclined to the right.

  7. Put an empty cup under the filter holder and press the single or double cup button to start preparing coffee.

  8. Once the preparation process is complete, empty the water from the tank. The espresso machine is now ready for use.

Coffee brewing

  1. Remove the filter holder and fill the filter with ground coffee using the pressing powder spoon supplied with the espresso machine.
RECOMMENDATION: 7-9 g for a single cup and 13-15 g for a double cup. The amount may vary depending on your preferences and the type of coffee you have used

  2. Compress the coffee with the pressing powder spoon. The ground coffee must be pressed evenly to obtain a well levelled and smooth surface. Clean any coffee residue from the edge of the filter holder.

  3. Insert the filter holder into the upper part of the espresso machine by making a 45° movement to the left and turn it back to the right until it clicks into position. The filter holder must be perpendicular to the machine or slightly inclined to the right.

Preparing espresso coffee

  1. Make sure the steam regulator knob is in the Off position.
  2. Place the preheated cup(s) under the filter holder.
  3. Press the single or double cup button to set the desired amount.

The taste of the coffee will depend on different factors, such as the type of coffee bean, the degree of roast, the freshness, the coarseness or fineness of the grind, the amount of ground coffee and the tamping pressure. Try adjusting these factors one at a time until you get the taste you want.

Frothing milk
To prepare a classic cappuccino or latte, we recommend:

  • using fresh, cold whole milk. The density of the frothed milk will depend on the percentage of milk fat.
  • using stainless steel milk jugs, circular, rounded, narrower at the top, with a spout, to decorate the cappuccino with the froth.

Before starting, it is important to move the steamer slightly outwards to place the jug directly underneath it to facilitate the movements necessary to froth the milk properly.

Then follow the next steps:

  1. Press the steam button. The steam button will start flashing if the temperature is not high enough to produce steam. Once the preheating process is completed, the steam button will turn on.

  2. Turn the steam regulator knob slightly counterclockwise to remove any condensation on the steamer, then turn the knob back to turn it off.

  3. Place the jug, half-filled with cold milk, under the steamer.

  4. Place the steam nozzle just below the surface of the milk. If it is inserted too deep, the milk will not froth; if it is not inserted deep enough, the milk will start to bubble, and the froth will disappear. It is important that the steamer is not in the centre, but close to the edge of the jug, which is slightly inclined.

  5. Turn the knob to the ON position. Steam will come out of the steamer.
ATTENTION: the whole process should not take more than 3 minutes, as the machine will automatically stop dispensing steam after 3 minutes of continuous steaming.
ATTENTION: to froth milk properly, the steam nozzle must always be in contact with the milk and not with the foam. Therefore, as the foam layer increases, lift the jug slightly, trying to keep the steamer in contact with the milk, without touching the bottom of the jug.

  6. Once the desired foam is obtained, it is necessary to push the steam nozzle deeper in order to heat the milk thoroughly.
ATTENTION: it is advisable to always keep one hand on the rounded part of the jug so that you can feel the temperature of the milk rise without frothing.

  7. Once the desired result is achieved, turn the steam regulator knob to the “OFF” position to stop dispensing steam and remove the jug.
ATTENTION: to make the foam more compact, it is advisable to tap the jug on a flat surface after foaming.

  8. Then, press the steam button again to stop the steam outlet. Pour the frothed milk into the previously brewed espresso.
WARNING: the steamer may be very hot during and after use. To avoid burns, move it only by resting your fingers on the rubber handle on the steamer.

  9. Turn the steam regulator knob to remove any milk residue from the pipe and then turn the steam knob off again.

  10. Do not prepare the coffee immediately after frothing the milk. The temperature of the heater is too high and the machine is protected against overheating. Under this protection, the single and double coffee buttons will flash if you press either of them.

Allow the warmer to cool down first; otherwise, the coffee may burn and come out of the filter holder. Please, follow the next 4 steps to cool down the machine.

  • Turn the steam regulator knob to the ON position so that hot water comes out.
  • Allow hot water to come out of the steamer to cool down the heater.
  • Once the heater cools down, all buttons will light up.
  • Return the knob to the OFF position. The machine is ready for the next preparation now.

Hot water preparation

  1. Switch on the machine and wait for all the buttons to light up.
  2. Put a cup under the steamer.
  3. Turn the knob to the ON position. Hot water will flow out of the steamer.
  4. Once the desired amount of hot water has been dispensed, turn the steam regulator knob to the OFF position.

ATTENTION:

  • the whole process should not take more than 40 seconds, as the machine will automatically stop dispensing hot water after 40 seconds of continuous operation. If you want more hot water, start the cycle again.
  • the steamer may be very hot during and after use. To avoid burns, move it only by resting your fingers on the rubber handle on the steamer.

Pressure gauge for espresso coffee
The needle of the pressure gauge indicates the extraction pressure.

Ideal pressure zone for espresso
When it is positioned anywhere in the espresso zone during extraction, it means that the espresso has been extracted at the ideal pressure.

Low-pressure zone

  • When the pressure gauge needle is below the espresso range during extraction, this indicates that the espresso has been extracted with insufficient pressure.
  • This can occur when water passes through the ground coffee too quickly, resulting in espresso that is under-extracted, watery, earthy, and lacking in crema and flavour.
  • Possible causes of insufficient extraction include too coarse grind, insufficient coffee in the filter, insufficient tamping, or a combination of all these factors.

High-pressure zone

  • When the pressure gauge needle is above the espresso range during extraction, this indicates that the espresso has been extracted with too much pressure.
  • This can occur when the water passes through the ground coffee too slowly, resulting in an over-extracted, very dark, and bitter espresso with a mottled and uneven crema.
  • Possible causes of over-extraction are too fine grind, too much ground coffee in the filter, excessive tamping, or a combination of all of these.
