Product Usage Instructions

Removal Instructions

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the column tilt lever by gently pulling or prying straight out from the column.
  3. Remove the bottom column cover by removing retaining screws.
  4. Remove the upper column cover retaining screw and remove the upper cover.
  5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder by pressing in the release button with a small screwdriver or suitable tool while keeping the key in the engine crank position. The lock cylinder may need to be wiggled back and forth to fully engage the release tab.
  6. Install the new lock cylinder and column trim covers.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Key Programming Instructions with Original Key Present

  1. Remove and separate new transponder keys from the key ring prior to programming.
  2. Hold up the original key next to the lock cylinder on the column.
  3. While holding the original key next to the column, insert the non-transponder key provided and turn the ignition to the ON position for 10 seconds.
  4. Continue to hold the original key next to the lock cylinder for Steps 5 and 6.
  5. Remove the non-transponder key and immediately insert the first transponder key provided. Turn to the ON position for 10 seconds and then to the OFF position. Insert the second transponder key and turn to the ON position for 10 seconds and then to the OFF position.
  6. The new transponder keys are now programmed and ready for use.

REMOVAL/INSTALL OF IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER (924-796)
Buick 2011–09, Cadillac 2014–04, Chevrolet 2014–05, GMC 2014–07, Hummer 2009–08

General Tech Tip:
This lock cylinder kit consists of 3 keys; 2 transponder and 1 non-transponder key. The new keys with this lock cylinder will need to be programmed to your truck. Be sure to follow key programming instructions to prevent a no start condition.

Removal Instructions

  • STEP 1: Disconnect negative battery cable.

  • STEP 5: Remove the ignition lock cylinder by pressing in release button with a small screwdriver or suitable tool, while keeping key in the engine crank position.   • STEP 6: Install new lock cylinder and column trim covers.
  • STEP 7: Connect the negative battery cable.
  • STEP 8: Program new keys to the vehicle following the instructions below.

Key Programming with Original Key Present

  • STEP 1: Remove and separate new transponder keys from key ring prior to programming.

  • STEP 3: While holding the original key next to the column insert the non-transponder key provided and turn the ignition to “ON” position for 10 seconds.
  • STEP 4: Contine to hold the original key next to the lock cylinder for Steps 5 and 6.
  • STEP 5: Remove the non-transponder key and immediately insert first transponder key provided. Turn to the “ON” position for 10 seconds and turn to the “OFF” position.   • STEP 6: The new transponder keys are now programmed and ready for use.

Key Programming without Original Key Present

NOTE : This long programming procedure will wipe all previous keys.

  • STEP 1: Remove and separate new transponder keys from key ring before programming.
  • STEP 2: Turn the ignition to “ON” position without starting and wait 11 minutes. The security light will stay illuminated until 11 minutes has passed.
  • STEP 3: Turn the ignition to “OFF” position and back to the “ON” position for a second time without starting and wait another 11 minutes. The security light will stay illuminated until 11 minutes has passed.
  • STEP 4: Turn the ignition to “OFF” position and back to the “ON” position for a third time without starting and wait another 11 minutes. The security light will stay illuminated until 11 minutes has passed.
  • STEP 5: Turn the ignition to “OFF” position and leave in “OFF” position for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 6: Start vehicle.
  • STEP 7: The first key is now programmed to the vehicle.
  • STEP 8: Program 2nd key by inserting the first programmed key and turning the ignition to the “ON” position for 10 seconds then turn the key to the “OFF” position and remove it. Insert 2nd transponder key provided turn to the “ON” position for 10 seconds and turn to the “OFF” position.
  • STEP 9: Your second key is now programmed to your vehicle.
