DORMAN CM350088 Clutch Master Cylinder
Clutch Hydraulic System Bleeding Instructions
This clutch hydraulic system must be bled following these instructions.
Install the clutch hydraulic parts per the installation instructions found in the shop manual.
NOTE: the assistance of an additional person will be required.
- Connect the supplied bleeder fitting and hose into the master cylinder pressure port.
- Place the other end of the hose into the reservoir.
- Fill reservoir with the specified fluid per the vehicle’s manufacturer (see shop manual).
- Slowly depress the clutch pedal fully while an assistant maintains the fluid level and ensures the hose remains in the reservoir.
- Slowly depress and release the clutch pedal 5-10 times to bleed the air out of the clutch master cylinder.
- Insert the solid plastic tube from the bleeder kit into the fluid feed hole inside the reservoir. This will minimize fluid loss while installing the pressure line.
- If the solid tube will not fit in your cylinder, then place a clean finger over the fluid feed hole in the reservoir while performing the next step.
- Remove the bleeder hose and fitting and quickly connect the clutch hydraulic pressure line to the clutch master. Remove the solid plastic tube if used.
- Slowly stroke the clutch pedal 5 full times and hold the pedal to the floor on the 5th stroke.
- Open the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder.
- Close the bleeder screw after the discharge has stopped.
- Allow the clutch pedal to return to the rest (up) position and wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the clutch pedal bleed process until the clutch releases normally.
IMPORTANT: frequently check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir during the bleeding process! Make sure it does not go dry! Failure to do so will require bleeding the clutch system again.

FAQ
Why do I need an assistant to bleed the clutch hydraulic system?
An assistant is required to maintain the fluid level and ensure the hose remains in the reservoir while you depress the clutch pedal.
What should I do if the solid tube from the bleeder kit does not fit in my cylinder?
If the solid tube does not fit, you can place a clean finger over the fluid feed hole in the reservoir while performing the next step.
How do I know when the clutch pedal bleed process is complete?
Repeat the process until the clutch pedal returns to the rest position and the clutch releases normally without any assistance.
What happens if the master cylinder reservoir goes dry during the bleeding process?
If the reservoir goes dry, you will need to start the bleeding process over again to ensure no air remains in the system.
