FOG LIGHT AIMING

There are two important issues to address when installing fog lights. The first is to minimize the amount of return glare into the drivers’ eyes, and the other is to minimize glare into oncoming eyes. Both of those issues must be accomplished while putting as much light as possible on the road. Firstly, Park your vehicle on a level surface, 25 feet away from a wall. And then measure the distance between the centre of the fog light and the ground. You should also mark the corresponding height on the wall. Finally, adjust the lighting angle by rotating the adjustment screw so the top of the fog beam pattern is about 4 inches down from the lamp centre at 25 feet, with the lamp facing straight forward. (See below.)

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: WHEN TO USE FOG LIGHTS?
A: Fog lights are designed to be used when visibility is severely restricted, typically due to fog, but also in other poor visibility conditions such as snow or heavy rain. The Highway Code (Rule 226) states: “You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves.”

Q: MY TRUCK DIDN’T COME WITH STOCK FOG LAMPS BEFORE, CAN I WIRE FOG LIGHTS DIRECTLY TO A BATTERY?
A: Yes, you can. At the very least you need to include a fuse and a switch (NOT include- ed) in a series with them. And it may be a lot neater and easier to use a spare position in an existing fusebox. In many cases, a vehicle wired this naively would fail annual inspection. There seem to be rules about combining lights that don’t always make sense. So you might need a relay or some other way of linking to the ignition and/or headlight circuit
NOTE: The wiring diagram of the wiring harness may be different if you encounter any problems, please consult the relevant manufacturer.

Q: HOW TO REMOVE THE MOISTURE IN THE HEADLIGHTS?

A: First, remove the headlights and open the vent Vent Valve valve on the back cover, with the front panel facing down and the cover facing up. Second, turn on the light for half an hour to remove the moisture. Third, after removing the moisture, cover the vent valve and install it back in your car.
