CROS TRANSMITTER
Two Solutions are available:
CROS solution:
For people with normal hearing in one ear and profound hearing loss in the
other. Sounds from the side with hearing loss are captured and transmitted
wirelessly to the good-hearing side.
BiCROS solution:
- For people with profound hearing loss in one ear and less severe hearing loss in the other. Sounds from the more severe hearing loss side are captured and transmitted wirelessly to the better hearing side. The hearing aid processes and amplifies the sounds from both sides.
- The CROS transmitter works with specific wireless hearing aids. Your Hearing Care Professional will advise you on the compatible models.
For individuals using a CROS transmitter
CROS solutions are designed for people with profound hearing loss in one ear
which cannot be aided with a hearing aid. A CROS transmitter worn on the non-
aided ear captures sound from the applicable side and transmits it to the
hearing aid on the ear with aidable loss when using a hearing aid. This allows
the wearer of the hearing aid to hear sounds from both sides.
Controls
The rocker switch can be programmed by your Hearing Care Professional to
control the following functions.
- L = Left, R = Right
The app or remote control can also be used to control many of these functions.
Hearing programs
Read more in the section “Changing the hearing program.”
Signal tones
CROS transmitter signal tones– like a low battery beep – are sent to the
hearing aid. Ask your Hearing Care Professional to configure the signal tones.
Features
- The tinnitus therapy feature generates a sound to distract you from your tinnitus.
- Power-on delay enables whistle-free insertion of hearing aids.
Daily use
To ensure comfort and ease of use of your hearing aids, they are equipped with an onboard control feature or can be controlled with an app. The Miracle-Ear® App is available on your app store.
Inserting and removing hearing aids
Your hearing aids have been programmed to your right and left ear. Coloured
markers indicate the correct side
- red marker = right ear
- blue marker = left ear
Inserting a hearing aid
For sleeves, take care that the bend of the sleeve is in line with the bend of
the receiver cable.
Hold the receiver cable at the bend closer to the earpiece.
- Carefully push the earpiece in the ear canal 1.
- Twist it slightly until it sits well.
- Open and close your mouth to avoid accumulation of air in the ear canal.
- Lift the hearing aid and slide it over the top of your ear 2.
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
- Always wear the receiver cable with an earpiece.
- Make sure that the earpiece is completely attached.
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
- Insert the earpiece carefully and not too deeply into the ear.
- It may be helpful to insert the right hearing aid with the right hand and the left hearing aid with the left hand.
- If you have problems inserting the earpiece, use the other hand to gently pull your earlobe downwards. This opens the ear canal and eases the insertion of the earpiece.
Using retention strand/concha lock
The optional retention strand helps to securely retain the earpiece in your
ear. To attach the optional retention strand:
- Align the end of the retention strand with the flat end of the receiver.
- Then press the retention strand towards the receiver until it clicks into place. To position the retention strand:
- Bend the retention strand and position it carefully into the bottom of the bowl of your ear (refer to the picture).
Removing a hearing aid
- Lift the hearing aid and slide it over the top of your ear 1.
- For all ootherearpieces Grip the receiver in the ear canal with two fingers and pull it carefully out 2.
- Do not pull the receiver cable.
- If your hearing aid has a custom shell or a mould, remove it by pulling the small removal cord toward the back of your head.
- Clean and dry your hearing aids after every use.
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
In very rare cases the ear piece could remain in your ear when removing the
hearing aid. If this happens, have the ear piece removed by a medical
professional.
Turning on and off
You have the following options turn your hearing aids on or off.
Via charger: Charger must be connected to the power supply.
- Turning on: Take the instruments out of the charger.
- The startup melody is played in your hearing aids. The default volume and hearing program are set.
- Turning off: Place the hearing aids in the charger.
Via rocker switch:
- Turn Off: Press and hold the upper part of the rocker switch for several seconds. A power-down melody will be played.
- Turning on: Press and hold the lower part of the rocker switch until the startup melody starts to play. Release the rocker switch while the melody is playing.
With power-on delay activated, the hearing aids turn on after a delay of several seconds. During this time you can insert the hearing aids into your ears without experiencing unpleasant feedback whistling.
Switching to standby mode
Via remote control, you can switch your hearing aids to standby mode. This
mutes the hearing aids. When you leave standby mode, the previously used
volume and hearing program are set.
Note:
- In standby mode, the hearing aids are not turned off completely They draw some power. Therefore we recommend using standby mode only for a short period.
- If you want to leave standby mode, but the remote control is not at hand: Turn your hearing aids off and on again. In this case, the default volume and hearing program are set.
Adjusting the volume
Your hearing aids automatically adjust the volume to your situation.
- To change volume manually, press the upper part of the rocker switch to increase the volume or the lower part to decrease.
- An optional signal can indicate the volume change. Once the maximum or minimum volume has been reached, you may hear a signal tone.
Changing hearing programs
- Your hearing aids automatically adjust based on the listening situation.
- Your hearing aids may also have several hearing programs set by your Hearing Care Professional to allow you to change the sound if needed.
- To change the hearing program, press the rocker switch briefly.
- An optional signal tone can indicate the program change. Default volume is applied.
- Additional optional controls may be available for your hearing aids. Please discuss this with your Hearing Care Professional.
Charging
There are three charger styles available for your hearing aids:
-
MECHARGE™ start
Tabletop -
MECHARGE™ full power
With power bank -
MECHARGE™ power dry
Cleans and dries
- Place your hearing aids in the charger.
- Follow the instructions in the charger’s user manual. You can also find useful tips for charging in the charger’s user manual.
- Before placing your hearing aids in the charger, clean the hearing aid charging contacts.
Low power indication
- You will hear an alert signal to indicate the power cell is running low. The signal will be repeated every 15 to 30 minutes depending on your settings. Depending on the usage of your hearing aids, you have approximately 1.5 hours to charge your hearing aids before they stop working.
- Note that the power cell runtime is reduced if too many features are used simultaneously.
Charging tips
How often should I charge my hearing aids?
- We recommend charging your hearing aids every night, even if the power cell is not empty. This ensures you’ll be fully charged at the start of each day.
How long does charging take?
- A full charging cycle takes about 4 hours
- After 30 minutes, it is possible to use your hearing aids up to 6 hours.
- Charging times vary due to the use and age of the power cell.
What if I forget to charge my hearing aids?
- Your hearing aids will automatically switch off when the power cell is empty. Charge the hearing aids as soon as possible.
- Hearing aids that have not been charged for over 6 months may be damaged due to unrecoverable deep discharge of the power cell. This will require repair or replacement.

FOR HEARING AIDS WITH TELECOIL
Audio induction loops
Some telephones and public places like theatres offer the audio signal (music
and speech) via an audio induction loop. With this system, your hearing aids
can directly receive the desired signal – without distracting noise in the
environment.
You can usually recognize audio induction loop systems by certain signs.
Whenever you are in a place with an audio induction loop:
- Switch to the telecoil program.
- If a telecoil program is configured for your hearing aids, it is listed in the section “Hearing programs”.
