ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key.
-
Park the vehicle on a level surface. Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
-
Lower the tail gate and choose a side to install the ladder.
-
Place the plate (A) on the tailgate with the rocker arms facing upward.
Position the plate so the studs align with the tailgate’s edge. -
Attach the plate with 6 screws. Preference is to use the p l ate ’s front and rear screw holes, but the tailgate’s construction may require different attachment points.
a. Use M6 x 45 self-tapping screws (M) on a tailgate with a drop-in bed liner.
b. Use M6 x 20 self-tapping screws (L) on a tailgate with a spray-on liner or no liner. -
Place a rocker arm (D) so both flanges fit on either side of plate’s stud.
The rubber bumper faces upward. Insert a lock pin (B) inward through the flanges and stud. Secure the lock pin with the clasp.
a. You can place nylon washers (C) between each flange and the stud to reduce side-to-side movement. This is optional. -
Repeat with the other rocker arm and plate stud.
-
Attach the offset tube (F) and straight tube (I) to the rocker arms.
Install the straight tube closest to the truck bed.
a. Position the tube end between the rocker arm’s flanges. Insert an M6 x 35 bolt (E) through the flanges and tube. Secure with an M6 lock nut (H).
b. Repeat with the other tube. -
Hang both tubes over the edge of your tailgate.
-
Push the open ends of the climbing rungs (G) onto each hanging tube end. You may need to tap it with a hammer to drive it inward.
-
Adjust the length until the ladder is angled approximately 15º off centre and the rocker arms are parallel to the ground. Adjust the climbing rungs until the bolt holes under the top rung aligns with the tubes’ bolt holes.
-
Insert an M6x35 bolt (E) through each set of bolt holes and secure each with an M6 lock nut (H).
-
Fold the ladder across the tailgate.
-
Attach the tie down straps (J and K) to the tailgate between the first and second rung. The strap ends can be placed beneath the ladder or outside the ladder.
a. Check that the male (J) and female (K) clasps will properly align first by snapping them together while positioning the strap ends.
b. Separate the clasps carefully so as not to disturb the strap ends.
c. Secure the strap to tailgate with an M6 x 20 self-tapping screw (L) if there is no liner and an M6 x 45 self-tapping screw (M) if there is a liner. -
Snap the clasps together. Pull the excess strap through the male clip to tighten the straps.
