INTRODUCTION

This durable and convenient carrier is designed to securely hold up to 18 cu. ft of evenly distributed cargo weighing up to 110 lb for transport. Its high- density polyethylene construction resists damage and is water resistant. It features an aerodynamic design that opens on both sides for easy access, includes locks on all 4 corners for added security and is compatible with most square, circle and aero cross rails (sold separately).

  1. This cargo carrier was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter or use it for an unintended purpose.
  2. Do not use the carrier if any parts are damage broken or misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
  3. Do not allow children to use without supervision. This device is not a toy.
  4. Do not use this to transport passengers.
  5.  Do not exceed 90 km/h while the carrier is attached.
  6. Follow Transport Canada or local ministry of transportation guidelines for installation and use.
  7. Do not exceed the carrier’s maximum capacity. Be aware of dynamic loading. Sudden load movement may briefly exceed the load capacity causing product failure.
  8. Always evenly distribute objects in the cargo carrier. Uneven weight distribution could cause tipping.
  9. Secure the carrier as close to your vehicle as possible, minimizing the distance between the carrier’s load and your vehicle.
  10. Secure loads with straps or other practical methods of securing before transporting to avoid shifting.
  11. Inspect before each use, including all bolts and nuts on the carrier. Do not use if damaged.
  12. Keep the carrier clean and dry. It is water resistant and not waterproof, so pack contents accordingly.
  13. Remove cargo carrier before entering any automated car wash or any low-clearance areas.
  14. Ensure all locks are engaged before driving.

Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage Make sure that all items in the Identification Key are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION

Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key. Dashed numbers in parenthesis (Fig. 1-1) refer to a specific point in an illustration or image.

WARNING! Turn OFF the vehicle, set the parking brake and chock the wheels before 2-1 installina the cardo carrier.

ASSEMBLING

  1. Place the base of the carrier (E) on a flat, stable surface (Fig. 1).

  2. Locate the keys and use them to unlock all 4 locks (B)

    •  When the lock is in the vertical position, it is locked (Fig. 2-1), and when the lock is in the horizontal position, it is unlocked (Fig. 2-2).
  3. Align the front of the carrier (Fig. 3-1) and place lid (A) on the base.

  4. Decide which side of the carrier you wish to open, and then connect the opposite side’s arms (D) on the interior of the base to the hinges (C) (Fig. 4).

  5. Lock all 4 locks to secure the carrier.

  6. Locate the included warning decal (I) and place on the lower corner of the vehicle’s rearview mirror.

MOUNTING

  1. Adjust the cross rails (not included) on the rooftop of the vehicle to the appropriate distance apart.

  2. Carefully place the cargo carrier on top of the cross rails with the holes in the carrier’s base positioned on either side of each cross rail.

    • Make sure to check the rear hatch H of the vehicle, or any other hatches or features, to ensure proper clearance and operation.
    • If the vehicle’s cross rails cannot be adjusted to accommodate the cargo Fig. 5 carrier, additional holes can be drilled using the drill start marks.
  3. Open the cargo carrier’s lid.

  4. From underneath, insert a mounting bracket (H) around the cross rail and through the holes in the base of carrier (Fig. 5).

  5. From the inside of the carrier, place a Fig. 6 mounting plate (F) onto the ends of the bracket. Ensure it is flush with the base of the carrier (Fig. 6).

  6. Place a knob (G) onto each end of the bracket (Fig. 7).

  7. Thread the knobs until they are near the base of the carrier. Do not fully tighten at this point.

  8. Repeat steps 4-7 for each corner of the carrier.

  9. Tighten all of the knobs evenly and fully until the carrier is secure. Do not overtighten.

OPERATION

  1. Load your desired contents into the opened carrier.
  2. Ensure that the load is centred properly, meaning that the heaviest portions of your content are located in the middle of the carrier.
    • Regardless of placement or positioning of contents, do not exceed the carrier’s max. load capacity.
  3. Close the lid and then secure all 4 locks. Push up on the lock to check security.
  4. Avoid sudden turns and quick acceleration or decelerations while driving. Check the carrier’s contents and security to the vehicle as frequently as possible.
  5. Once at your destination, ensure the vehicle is turned off and the parking brake applied before unloading.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Maintain the cargo carrier with care. A carrier in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will have fewer problems.
  2. Inspect the carrier’s components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
  3. Only use accessories intended for use with this cargo carrier.
  4. Keep the carrier clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
  5.  Check the tightness of all fasteners frequently to ensure the carrier’s security to the vehicle and prevent damage and accidents.
  6. Maintain the labels and name plates. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.

WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the cargo carrier. Improper repair may present a hazard to the user and/or others.

CLEANING

Clean the interior and exterior of the carrier regularly with mild soap and water

DISPOSAL
If damaged beyond repair, recycle at the appropriate facility.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the item does not function properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified technician service the item.
