Preparing Fixtures for Mounting

  1. Bend the mounting tab to fit the T-Grid height.
  2. Adjust the height of the tab accordingly.
  3. If using a 20×60 T-Grid ceiling, attach filler panels to the housing ends with supplied screws.

Mounting in a T-Grid Ceiling

  1. Lay the fixture into the T-Grid.
  2. Bend tabs flush against the T-Grid to clear for ceiling tile.
  3. Fasten the fixture to the T-Grid using #8×1/4 sheet metal screws and hanger wires as per local building codes.

Mounting in a Drywall Ceiling

  1. Cut a hole in the drywall as per provided dimensions.
  2. Insert the mounting frame into the hole and secure it.
  3. Secure the mounting frame by screwing it to a wood frame or attaching hanger wires.

Making Electrical Connections & Lens Installation

  1. Make all electrical connections to the fixture.
  2. For flex whip option, follow step 11 for installation.
  3. To install lenses, remove the cardboard shipping insert and slide the second lens to enclose in the fixture cavity.

System Overview

These instructions review how to install recessed Shine and SilkSpace Definition fixtures. Please refer to layout drawings supplied by Ledalite in conjunction with these installation instructions. The graphic below shows the components required to install a run of Shine and SilkSpace Definition recessed fixtures in T-Grid and drywall ceilings.

IMPORTANT : Read all instructions including fixture/sensor wiring AND mechanical details before beginning installation.

Standalone Installation Instructions Imperial & Metric Sizes

LEDALITE-ID-33-Shin--and-Silk-Space-Definition-1 Preparing fixtures for mounting

  1. Bend out the mounting tab 90° on each corner.

  2. Use side cutters to adjust each tab to a height of the T-Grid.

  3. If installing in a 20”x60” T-Grid ceiling, attach filler panels to ends of the housing using supplied screws, as shown above.

  4. Lay fixture into T-Grid.

  5. Bend tabs flush against T-Grid in order to clear for ceiling tile.

  6. Use #8×1/4” sheet metal screws to fasten fixture to T-Grid and use a hanger wire to tie off appropriately in accordance with local building codes. (Screws and hanger wires supplied by others).

  7. Cut a hole in the drywall according to the dimensions in the table above.

  8. Insert mounting frame into hole and secure as showing in step 9.

  9. Secure mounting frame by screwing to wood frame or attaching hanger wires.

  10. Make all electrical connections to the fixture. For flex whip option, see step 11.

  11. Optional flex whip is prewired inside fixture. Remove packaging and insert snap-in fitting into wiring cover and complete electrical connections at other end of whip.

  12. Remove & recycle cardboard shipping insert holding lenses in place.

  13. Slide second lens across to enclose in fixture cavity.
