IMPORTANT
- The battery is designed for indoor charging only. Please ensure it is used on an uncarpeted, non-flammable hard floor in a well ventilated area.
- Do not attempt to use the charger if it has been dropped or damaged.
- Never attempt to charge a damaged, water-damaged, frozen or non-rechargeable battery.
- Do not smoke, use an open flame or create sparks near your battery and charger during charging.
- Do not operate the charger if the cord or plug is damaged.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the battery or charger. Doing so may cause injury and will void warranty.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged after each use no matter how many holes are played. The lithium battery is designed to last a full round of golf.
- Never attempt to fully discharge your battery. If your Ai or Zip Series cuts out repeatedly, please take your model, battery and charger to your nearest MGI service agent.
Battery Storage
- Lithium batteries should not be stored for long periods of time, either depleted or fully charged. Ideally the battery should be at 40-50% capacity, stored in a clean dry environment on a hard, non-flammable surface, between 15°C (60°F) to 25°C (80°F). As lithium batteries slowly discharge over time, it is recommended that the battery be power cycled every 6 months, if left unused, and re-stored as above.
Operating Instructions
- Prior to first use and after every use, charge the battery.
- Do NOT charge your MGI lithium battery for more than 10 hours. Once the battery is fully charged, unplug from charger or disconnect power supply.
MGI battery chargers have different connectors:
Battery | Connectors |
---|---|
24v Lithium | Red and Black on top of each other |
- Only the charger supplied with your Ai/Zip Series is to be used to charge the battery. Using an incorrect charger, or using the Ai charger to charge a Zip battery will cause damage to both the charger and battery and will void the respective warranties.
- Plug the charger directly into a wall power point. Do not use a multi-outlet power board to charge the battery.
- Always place the battery after use, no matter how short the period of use. Your battery will charge best, lying flat, in a warm and air ventilated location.
- Charge your battery in ambient temperatures between 5°C (30° F) and 30° C (86°F).
- To minimise drain on the battery during play, avoid taking your Ai/Zip Series into thick rough where possible.
- The Ai/Zip Series is designed to carry a maximum load of 20kg (approx 45 lbs) – do not use the Ai/Zip Series as an aid to traverse up and down hills as this will drain the battery and may cause overload of the drive system.
- Lithium batteries are a dangerous good and cannot be transported via air travel – please contact you airline prior to travel.
- Be very careful not to drop your battery. The battery casing and the battery’s subsequent life will be severely compromised Any damage/impact may compromise battery performance, longevity and safety functionality- replace battery immediately.
- Your lithium battery leads, casing and connections should be regularly inspected for damage and wear.
- If your leads or connections need repair or replacement, please contact your local MGI repair centre for assistance immediately. Do not use the charger for charging if the connections are damaged
- Under no circumstances should a lithium battery that has been dropped, damaged or immersed in water be connected to an Ai/Zip Series or charger. By doing so, you may create a fire hazard or risk the battery catching fire. Please safely dispose of your battery immediately.
- Please ensure the chassis battery housing and connectors are free from debris before connecting the battery.
- The battery is a sealed battery. If you are intending to take your Ai/Zip Series Model and battery on air travel, we advise that you make contact with your airline prior to travel.
Charging Process
LED Indicator
- The charging indicator will show the different states of the battery during the charging process.
- The Green LED illuminates solid to indicate the charger is powered on.
- The Red LED illuminates solid to indicate when charging.
- The LED will turn solid Green when the battery is fully charged.
- If the Green or Red LED indicator flashes constantly, this indicates that the charging process has failed, there may be a problem with your charger or battery. In this situation you should contact the MGI service centre.
