The PEPE – Transport Wheelchair (Narrow) is a device designed to help transport people who are paraplegic, quadriplegic, hemiplegic or who, due to illness or accident, have to use a wheelchair temporarily. The user should not exceed the maximum recommended weight of 250 lb. The chair is designed for the user to be transported by a third person with sufficient strength to push the chair safely. It has a safety belt for greater user restraint.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Unfold the wheelchair by pulling the armrests outward.

  2. Insert the footrests by fitting the holes and rotate it until the footrest is facing the front.

CHAIR FOLDING

  1. To remove the footrests, use the metal lever to unclip the footrests and remove them from the chair frame.

  2. Pull the seat upward to fold the chair frame.

TRANSFER ASSISTANCE

  1. Squeeze the lever located on the side of the wheelchair.

  2. Raise the side of the wheelchair up to assist in transferring the user in and out of the wheelchair.

FIXED WRENCH

The fixed key has 2 functionalities.

  1. Adjusting the footrest. The footrest can be adjusted in height for more comfortable foot support.

  2. Adjust the front wheels. With use, the front wheels may become loose and the fixed wrench helps to retighten them.

BRAKE SYSTEM

The maximum slope for the use of parking brakes is 26º for a rear slope and 15º for a front slope.

To activate the brake, push the brake lever all the way backwards until the metal is anchored in the wheel.

To deactivate the brake, push the brake lever forward.

MATERIALS

WARNINGS

  • Do not use the wheelchair without carefully reading the instructions.
  • This chair may not be used as a seat in vehicles of any kind.
  • Always transfer the wheelchair user to a seat approved by the vehicle manufacturer and use the available safety devices.
  • Do not use this wheelchair on streets, roads or any surface with vehicle traffic.
  • Do not attempt to use the wheelchair on ramps without proper assistance.
  • Before inserting or removing the user, the wheelchair must be on a smooth and stable surface.
  • Do not apply weight on the footrests when inserting or lifting the user into or out of the wheelchair.
  • Do not lean or drop weight on the top of the wheelchair backrest, it may cause the wheelchair to tip over.
  • Do not stand on the wheelchair.
  • Sudden changes in direction when using a ramp or slope can cause instability and/or the possibility of tipping.
  • Keep in mind that this chair is intended for transporting another person, and not for personal transport.
  • Never stretch so far that you have to move around in the seat or out of the chair.
  • When you have to reach for objects that require you to lean, make sure the front wheels point forward, as this will stabilize the chair.
  • The temperature of the wheelchair may increase when exposed for long periods of time to external heat sources, such as sunlight.
  • If you will be storing the wheelchair for an extended period of time, do not leave it exposed to prolonged weathering.
  • Do not exceed the maximum supported weight, which is 250 lb.
  • In accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, this product is suitable for recycling at designated recycling points.
  • Any serious incident involving the product should be reported to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and patient are established.
  • Retain these instructions for future reference.

MAINTENANCE

  • Inspect the chair before each use to ensure that there is no damage or excessive wear. If you find any signs of wear or damage to your chair, DO NOT USE IT.
  • Regularly check that all parts are sound before operation and that the casters turn smoothly. If you notice that the casters are loose, tighten them using the wrench provided.
  • Keep the wheelchair clean, the steel tubes can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. The fabric parts should be washed by hand (max. 30°) and with neutral soap.

WARRANTY

KMINA warrants this wheelchair to be free from defects. The warranty will remain in effect for 3 years from the date of original purchase by the consumer. The warranty does not extend to parts exposed to natural wear and tear that require periodic replacement, such as brakes, wheels and handgrips. This warranty does not cover:

  • Replacement parts supplied by anyone other than KMINA or the authorized dealer.
  • Any failure of the unit during the warranty period that is not caused by a defect in material or workmanship or if the failure is caused by misuse.
  • KMINA is not liable for accidental damage or damage to property.
