Appearance and Description of Buttons
The RT40 is a sturdy and durable PDA designed for various applications such
as manufacturing, cold chain transportation, and storage. It features a touch
button dual-input design to accommodate operators wearing gloves. RT40 is a
sturdy and durable PDA developed by UROVO for manufacturing, cold chain
transportation, storage and other applications. RT40 has the function of
heating and is equipped with a special low temperature battery for use in cold
environment (-30°C).
The appearance of RT40 is shown in the figure below:
Operators often wear gloves, so RT40 adopts the touch button dual-input design.
Charging and Battery Use
Do not continue to use the RT40 after powering it on and simply checking if
the host is functioning. The RT40 supports battery hot swap, allowing you to
replace the battery within 30 seconds. The battery status indicator can be
found on the device. Do not continue to use RT40 after powering on and simply
checking whether RT40 host is in good condition. Please fully charge the
battery first.RT40 supports quick charging. The battery has an intelligent
control module. Keep the ambient temperature between 5°C and 35°C when
charging. If the battery is just taken out of the cold storage, do not charge
it immediately until its temperature rises and the battery surface is dried.
RT40 supports battery hot swap. Replace the battery within 30 seconds.

Starting and Restoring Factory Settings
- Press and hold the power button for three seconds when the battery is full to start the device.
- Press and hold the power button for two seconds in on state, and then a selection menu will pop up on the right side of the screen. Select “Power off” to power off RT40 or “Restart” to restart RT40.
- To access the selection menu, press and hold the power button for two seconds while the device is on. From the menu, you can choose to power off or restart the RT40.
- The RT40 screen will automatically turn off after a certain period of inactivity. By default, you can press the power button to turn on the screen. Additionally, you can customize the wake-up options in the Settings menu.
- You can set the automatic sleep time in the Settings menu to save power and extend battery life. It is recommended to set a time between 2-5 minutes.
- There are three options to restore factory settings in “Settings – System – Advanced – Reset options”. Tap the first option to clear Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings; tap the second option to reset app preferences (notifications, permissions, etc.); tap the third option to clear all data (factory reset).
- To restore factory settings, go to Settings – System – Advanced Reset options. There are three options available: clearing Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings; resetting app preferences; or performing a complete factory reset.
How to View System Information **

To view system information on the RT40, go to Settings – About phone and tap on Model & hardware. Here, you can find the RT40 serial number, which is required for software activation and maintenance services. You can also view other details such as the MAC address of the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules and the OS buildnumber. Alternatively, when the device is turned off, you can unplug the battery to access specific information about the RT40, including the model, serial number, date of manufacture, Wi-Fi MAC address, and Bluetooth address. Tap “Model & hardware” in “Settings – About phone” to view RT40 serial number (the unique number of RT40, which is the query basis for activating software and enjoying maintenance services).Slide the screen to the bottom to see the details of RT40, as shown in below figure.After WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled, MAC address of WiFi and Bluetooth module can be seen.RT40 OS build number is the basis for OS upgrade. In addition, when the device is turned off, you can also get the specific information of RT40, including model, serial number, date of manufacture, Wi-Fi MAC address and Bluetooth address, on the inner wall of the battery slot by unplugging the battery.
Modifying System Language and Time **

To change the system language, navigate to Settings – System – Languages &
input – Languages. Add the desired language and drag it to the top row to
switch the system language. To change the system time and date, go to Settings
– System – Date & time. If a time synchronization server is available, the
RT40 will automatically correct the time zone, time, and date. Otherwise, you
will need to manually set these values. The path to change the system language
is as follows: Settings – System – Languages & input – Languages. Tap “Add a
language” and add the language you want, and drag it to the first row to
switch the system language. The path to change the system time and date is as
follows: Settings – System – Date & time. If a time synchronization server is
available on the network, it will enable the default options “Use network-
provided time” and “Use network-provided time zone” to automatically correct
the current time zone, time and date (in connected state). If not, it will
disable the options “Use network-provided time” and “Use network-provided time
zone”, and need to manually set the time zone, time and date.
Note: The manually set time will be restored to the default value when
the battery runs out, so please replace the battery or charge it in time when
the battery is low.
Barcode scanning settings
Barcode scanning setting path: there are setting options in “Settings – Enterprise featured setting – Scanner Settings”.

Triggering Modes: manual scanning mode, automatic scanning mode and continuous scanning mode can be selected.

Output mode: Keystroke output and Intent output.

If some barcodes can be scanned, but the output data is incomplete and the last digit is missing, run “Scanner” application as shown in the figure to scan the barcode and view the barcode information. In this example, the barcode data is 6926648017320, and the actual data is 692664801732. The mantissa “0” is missing. The barcode symbology is EAN-13 based on the information feedback from Scan Demo. As shown in Figure, tap EAN-13 in “Symbology Settings”, and check “Send checksum”. The barcodes with other symbology can also be operated in this way.

If there are multiple barcodes on the label of good, it will be easy to scan mistakenly. You can run the “Scanner” application, tap the setting icon at the upper right corner, go to “Scanner Settings – Reader params”, check Configure Windowing and configure corresponding X and Y coordinates.

If the operation environment is noisy and it is difficult to hear the decoding prompt tone clearly, check Vibrate. There will be an additional vibration prompt when decoding successfully.
Configuring wireless network
The wireless network setting path is as follows: Settings — Network &
internet. Then, enable and click Wi-Fi, search for the network to be
connected, and click and enter the password.
Touch
screen settings
RT40 provides a glove mode to adapt to different application scenarios. The
setting path is as follows: Settings — Accessibility — Glove mode. If you wear
gloves to operate the screen, select glove mode.
Heating
One of the main features of RT40, which is mainly used for cold chain, is that
it is equipped with heater of LCD/scan engine. When the operator enters and
exits the Ultra-low temperature warehouse frequently, no condensation and
frost will form and cause the malfunction of scanner and touch screen. Heating
can be triggered by defogging mode which is activated by tapping relevant
icon.
Scanner type **
**
The scanning window of RT40 has two types: long distance type and standard distance type.
Long distance type:
It uses the latest quick auto-focus technology and supports a wide reading
range of 42° in both a short distance and a maximum distance of 20 m [66 ft].
The operator can read the barcode in the entire distance without delay, which
is conducive to obtain an efficient and comfortable working pace. Height range
up to 10 cm to 20 m [4 in to 66 ft].
Standard distance type:
Based on a megapixel global shutter sensor, some barcodes like code 39 can be
read at a short distance of 0.8 meter (31.5 inches).The white LED lighting
system can enhance the accuracy of the image capture system, and HD optical
components support the reading of codes with higher resolution.
