Product Usage Instructions

General Safety Instructions:

When using electrical equipment, always follow these basic safety precautions:

  • All electrical connections must adhere to local and National Electrical Code (N.E.C) standards.
  • If you are not familiar with proper electrical wiring connections, seek the assistance of a qualified electrician.
  • Avoid making or altering open holes in enclosures of wiring or electrical components during installation.
  • To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to the edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.
  • This device is not intended for use with an emergency exit.

Unpacking:

Thoroughly inspect the light for any freight damage. If any damage is found, report it to the delivery carrier.

Selecting Color Temperature:

To avoid the risk of damage, ensure that the wall switch connected to the light is turned off before changing or selecting the desired color temperature (CCT). Use the CCT switch located on the face of the light (after removing the lens) to select the desired color temperature. The available options are 3000K Soft White, 4000K Cool White, or 5000K Day Light.

Surface Mount – Junction Box Installation:

  1. Make sure the power is turned off at the source and securely mount the J-box. This light is compatible with 2.75, 3.5, or 4 J-box sizes.

  2. Twist the lens clockwise to remove it.

  3. Remove the two stickers at the back of the light to reveal 6 screw slots corresponding to the junction box installation hole size (2.75, 3.5, or 4).

  4. Connect the supply wires to the wires on the light using the three wire nuts included in the packaging. Attach white to white, black (or red) to black, and copper wire to copper wire for grounding.

  5. Arrange the wires in the back of the junction box.

  6. Align the appropriate holes in the mounting light with the holes in the J-box based on the size of the box.

  7. Use longer screws for a deep J-box or shorter screws for a shallow J-box to attach the mounting light flush with the ceiling.
    Avoid over-tightening screws.

  8. Complete the installation by twisting the lens back into its original position counterclockwise.

Wiring Connections

Step 1: Junction Box Supply Wire

  • WHITE: NEUTRAL

  • Steps 5, 6 & 7: Arrange wires and attach the mounting light to the junction box.

  5. Use only in open luminaires.
  6. This device is not intended for use with an emergency exit.
    • UNPACKING: Thoroughly inspect the light for freight damage. Freight damage should be reported to the delivery carrier.
    • INSTALLATION   TYPES: surface mount with a junction box or retrofit recessed can.
  7. This light is dimmable. The dimming range is 10%-100%.
  8. This retrofit kit is accepted as a component of a luminaire where the suitability of the combination shall be determined by authorities having jurisdiction.
  9. Please examine all parts that are not intended to be replaced by the retrofit kit for damage and replace any damaged parts before installation of the retrofit kit. Only install in operating environments between -4°F and 113°F (-20°C and +40°C).

SELECTING COLOR TEMPERATURE

  • To avoid the risk of damage, ensure the wall switch connected to the light is turned to the off position before changing or selecting the desired color temperature (CCT) on the selector switch.
  • Select the color temperature via the CCT switch located on the face of the light when the lens has been removed.
  • Using the color (CCT) selector switch, select the desired color temperature (3000K Soft White, 4000K Cool White, or 5000K Day Light).

SURFACE MOUNT – JUNCTION BOX

  1. Make sure power is turned off at the source before installing the light and the J-box is securely mounted. (This light is compatible with a 2.75”, 3.5”, or 4” J-box).
  2. Remove the lens by twisting it clockwise.
  3. Remove the two stickers at the back that read as 2.75”,3.5”, or 4” junction box installation holes to reveal 6 screw slots.
  4. Connect the supply wires to the wires on the light using the three wire nuts included in the packaging. Attach white to white and black (red) to black by pushing the wires into the wire nuts. Also, attach copper wire to copper wire (green) as a grounding connection using the wire nut.
  5. Arrange the wires in the back of the junction box.
  6. Align appropriate holes in the mounting light with the holes in the J-box depending on the size of the box (2.75”, 3.5” or 4”).
  7. Use the longer screws for a deep J-box or the shorter screws for a shallow J-Box to attach the mounting light, flush with the ceiling. Do not over-tighten screws or the light will not be tight to the ceiling.
  8. Complete the installation by placing the lens back into its original position by twisting it in a counter-clockwise direction.

STEPS FOR SURFACE MOUNT INSTALLATION

RETROFIT

  1. Make sure the power is turned off at the source before installing the light.
  2. Remove any existing trim before installation of this light.
  3. Remove the lens by twisting it clockwise.
  4. Peel off the two stickers at the back that read as 5” or 6” recessed installation holes to reveal 2 rectangular slots.
  5. Place the spring holds into these rectangular slots and twist them at the right angle in a locked position.
  6. The spring holds must be adjusted depending on the can size (5” or 6”) as shown in the figure.
  7. Connect the power wires from the E26 Adapter to the wires on the light using the two wire nuts included in the packaging. Attach white to white and black (red) to black by pushing the holds into the wire nuts.
  8. Thread the E26 Adapter into the socket of the recessed can.
  9. Squeeze both the holders’ arms together and insert them into the spring slots of the can.
  10. Arrange all wires and carefully push the retrofit trim into the can.
  11. Complete the installation by placing the lens back into its original position by twisting it in a counter-clockwise direction.

DIMMING

  • Dimming performance may depend on the dimmer, the dimmer range adjustment setting (for dimmers with brightness range adjustments), the wiring method, and/or the number of LED modules installed onto the dimmer circuit.

For dimmer selection, Dimming

  • Control Manufacturers revise their products often; for the latest list of compatible dimmers please visit our website.
  • For best results, it is recommended to install a minimum of four LED modules onto one dimmer.
  • Before turning on the LED lights, set the dimmer position at maximum before adjusting to a lower light level.
  • Please follow the Dimming Control Manufacturer’s instructions for the installation of all dimming controls.
