The VC-12/1000A Capacitor Jump Starter (Item no: 2799626) is a standalone vehicle battery jump starter. It uses a capacitor to capture and store residual energy from a weakened 12V battery, then releases that stored energy to crank start the engine. It is designed to be used on batteries with a voltage greater than 6V.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before using the VC-12/1000A Capacitor Jump Starter, ensure the vehicle’s engine and electronics are turned off.
  2. Connect the cable clamps to the battery terminals, ensuring proper polarity.
  3. Press the power button to activate the LCD screen.
  4. Check the battery voltage displayed on the LCD screen.
  5. If the battery voltage is below 13 V, prepare the capacitor by allowing it to charge for approximately 3 minutes.
  6. Once the capacitor is ready, the LCD screen will display “READY”.
  7. Turn off all vehicle electronics (eg, air conditioning, heating, radio, lighting, etc.).
  8. Engage the vehicle’s parking brake.
  9. Start the vehicle’s engine by pressing the power button on the jump starter.
  10. If the LCD screen does not activate or displays an error code, refer to the troubleshooting section in the user manual.

Intended use

The product is a standalone vehicle battery jump starter. It uses a capacitor to capture and store residual energy from a weakened 12V battery, then releases that stored energy to crank start the engine. It cannot be used on a battery that has a voltage less than 6V.

  • This product does not contain a rechargeable battery so does not need to be charged.
  • If you use the product for purposes other than those described, the product may be dam-aged.

Operation

  • Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the product.
  • If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
    • is visibly damaged,
    • is no longer working properly,
    • has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
    • has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.

Electrical safety

  • Switch off the vehicle engine and electronics before connecting the product.
  • Clean the battery terminals to maintain proper contact and prevent short circuits.
  • Avoid electric shock! Do not operate the product with wet hands and check the battery clamp and cable insulation is not damaged.
  • Remove metal jewelry (e.g., necklaces, rings) when working with batteries to reduce the risk of short circuits, electric shocks, or burns.

Personal safety

  • Wear eye protection to prevent injuries from explosions or corrosive chemicals while working with lead-acid batteries.
  • Risk of explosion! Never operate the product in areas where flammable fumes or gases are present (e.g. petrol stations).
  • Risk of burns – Allow engine compartments to cool down as they can reach high temperatures.
  • Keep away from moving engine parts like belts, pulleys and fans.
  • Risk of entanglement and burns! Loose clothing and jewelry can get caught or entangled in moving or hot parts.
  • Explosive / noxious gases may be produced / present during use. Always use the product in a well-ventilated area.
  • Have someone nearby in case there is an emergency.

Lead-acid battery

  • Keep fresh water, soap and eyewash within reach.
    • If battery acid contacts skin or clothes, wash immediately with soap and water.
    • Avoid touching eyes. If acid enters eyes, flush with water for 10 minutes and seek medical help immediately.

Connection

Preparation for connection
Before connecting the cables to a battery:

  • Switch OFF all vehicle electrics (e.g. air conditioner, heater, radio, lights etc.).
  • Make sure the ignition key is in the “OFF” position. For push-to-start ignition, make sure the vehicle is completely OFF.
  • Check the battery contact terminals are clean.
  • Prepare your vehicle for ignition (e.g. place gear in park and engage the emergency brake).

Connecting the leads

Important:
Always connect test leads to terminals in the correct order.

  1. Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal.
  2. Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal.
  3. Wiggle the clamps back and forth to ensure proper connection.
  4. The LCD should activate. If the LCD does not activate see section: Troubleshooting.

Disconnecting the leads
When finished using the product:

  1. Press the button to switch the power OFF.
  2. Disconnect the red clamp.
  3. Disconnect the black clamp.

  1. Connect the product to the vehicle battery terminals. See section: Connection.
  2. Press the button to switch the power ON.
    • If everything is functioning correctly the capacitor will start charging. See section: LCD status display.
    • If there is a problem with the battery an error message will appear. See section: Troubleshooting.
  3. Wait for a “beep” sound and READY to appear on the display.
    • Jump start the vehicle engine.
  4. If ignition is successful, let the engine run to allow the battery to recharge, and disconnect the product from the battery. See section: Disconnecting the leads.
    • If ignition is not successful, switch the product OFF, and repeat steps 2 – 3.

Notes:

  • In some cases when the ambient temperature is <0 °C, the LCD display may not activate but the product will still function.
  • In such cases wait approximately 5 minutes for the audible “beep”. This indicates the capacitor has reached full charge and is ready to jump start the vehicle engine.

Troubleshooting

Cleaning and care

Important:

  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions. They damage the housing and can cause the product to malfunction.
  • Do not immerse the product in water.
  1. Disconnect the product from the power supply.
  2. Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.

Disposal

This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life. Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end users from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a collection point.
