CONVENIENCE

EXIT WARNING

This feature uses radar sensors to help you determine when it is safe to exit your vehicle.

Exit warning detects traffic as it approaches your vehicle from the rear and crosses into the area to the left and right side of the vehicle and slightly past a fully open door.

When exit warning detects traffic on one side, the corresponding alert indicator in the exterior mirror is illuminated. If exit warning alert or the optional exit warning prevention are active, the same alert indicator flashes.

Depending on your vehicle’s features, exit warning prevention may stop the door latch from opening when traffic is detected on the same side. The inner door handle is disabled, and the door remains closed. Once  traffic has cleared, the inner door handle is automatically enabled and the occupant can open the door to exit the vehicle.

  2. Move your foot under and away from the rear bumper detection area in a single-kick motion. Do not move your foot sideways or the sensors may not detect the motion. Kick between the exhaust and hitch if your vehicle is equipped with a hitch.

Any movement that mimics a kick can cause the hands-free liftgate to activate. Switch the power liftgate off through your vehicle settings or keep the passive key away from the rear bumper detection area.
Refer to your Owner’s Manual for additional information.

PARKING AIDS

With the front, rear and side parking aids, a warning tone sounds if there is an obstacle near either bumper or near the sides of your vehicle. The warning tone increases in frequency as the object gets closer. The front sensors are active when the gearshift is in any position other than park (P) and traveling at a low speed; the rear sensors activate when the vehicle is in reverse (R) and traveling less than 5 mph (8 km/h). The side sensor coverage is up to 24 in (60 cm) from the sides of your vehicle. The system provides object distance indication through the center display. As the distance to the object decreases, the indicator waves and the lines move toward the vehicle icon. Visual indication remains on when the transmission is in reverse (R).

Note: Visibility aids do not replace the need to watch where the vehicle is moving. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for safety information, more details and limitations.

LANE KEEPING SYSTEM

When you switch the system on and an unintentional drift out of your lane is detected, the system notifies or assists you to stay in your lane through the steering system and instrument cluster display. Depending on the feature operation mode you select, the system provides a warning by vibrating the steering wheel (Alert Mode) or a steering assistance (Aid Mode) by gently counter steering your vehicle back into the lane.

The system can also provide both warning (vibrating the steering wheel) and steering assistance (gently counter steering your vehicle back into the lane) while Aid+Alert mode is selected.

You can switch the system on or off by pressing the button on the turn signal.

Refer to the Lane Keeping System chapter of your Owner’s Manual for system operation and limitations.

DRIVER ALERT

The system automatically monitors your driving behavior using various inputs, including the front camera sensor. If the system detects that your driving alertness is reduced below a certain threshold, the system alerts you using a message in the instrument cluster display.

Switch the system on or off using the instrument cluster display. When activated, the system monitors your alertness level based upon your driving behavior in relation to the lane markings and other factors. See the Driver Alert chapter in your Owner’s Manual for more information.

**EVASIVE STEERING ASSIST***

When your vehicle is rapidly approaching a road user that is stationary or traveling in the same direction as you, evasive steering works in conjunction with the pre-collision assist system to apply additional steering torque to help you steer around the road user. After you pass the road user, the system applies steering torque in the opposite direction to encourage you to steer back into the lane. The system deactivates after you fully pass the road user.

PRE-COLLISION ASSIST

If your vehicle is rapidly approaching another stationary vehicle, a vehicle traveling in the same direction as yours or a pedestrian within your driving path, the system is designed to provide three levels of functionality:

Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning appears and a warning tone sounds.

Brake support: The system helps reduce the impact speed by preparing the brakes for rapid braking. Brake support does not automatically apply the brakes. If you press the brake pedal, the system could apply additional braking up to maximum braking force, even if you lightly press the brake pedal.

Automatic Emergency Braking: This may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent.

See the Pre-Collision Assist chapter in your

Owner’s Manual for safety information, more details and limitations.

REAR VIEW CAMERA

The rear view camera system provides a video image of the area behind the vehicle.

The image appears when the transmission is in reverse (R) and uses a variety of guidelines to alert you of your proximity to objects. If your vehicle is equipped with the obstacle distance indicator, the system provides an image of your vehicle and the red, yellow and green sensor zones. For more information about the rear view camera, see the Rear View Camera chapter of your Owner’s Manual.

GLOBAL OPENING

You can open the front windows for a short time after you unlock your vehicle with the remote control. After you unlock your vehicle, press and hold the remote control unlock button to open the windows. Release the button once movement starts. Press the remote control lock or unlock button to stop movement.

BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM AND CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT

The blind sport information system uses radar sensors to help you determine if a vehicle may be in your blind spot zone.

Cross traffic alert warns you of vehicles approaching from the sides when the transmission is in reverse (R). Both systems illuminate an indicator in the exterior mirror on the side of the vehicle from which the approaching vehicle is coming. Cross traffic alert also sounds tones and displays an arrow in the instrument cluster display to warn you from which direction vehicles are approaching.

Note: Visibility aids do not replace the need to watch where the vehicle is moving.

Refer to your Owner’s Manual for safety information, more details and system limitations.

FUNCTION

REFUELING

When refueling your vehicle:

  1. Make sure the ignition is switched off.
  2. Open the fuel door.
  3. Insert the fuel pump nozzle up to the first notch. Keep the fuel pump nozzle resting on the fuel tank filler pipe.
  4. Make sure you keep the fuel pump nozzle in a level position when refueling or it may impact the flow of the fuel. Improper positioning can also cause the fuel pump to shut off before the fuel tank is full.
  5. When you finish refueling, slowly raise and remove the fuel pump nozzle. Close the fuel door.

If you are refilling your tank from a fuel container, make sure you use the fuel filler funnel included with your vehicle. Using an aftermarket funnel may not work with the capless system and could cause damage to your vehicle. For more information and for your fuel filler funnel location, see the Fuel and Refueling chapter of your Owner’s Manual.

FUEL TANK CAPACITY AND FUEL INFO

For vehicles with front-wheel drive, the fuel tank capacity is 18.4 gal (69.7 L). For vehicles with all-wheel drive, the fuel tank capacity is 18.5 gal (70 L). We recommend regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. To provide improved performance, we recommend premium fuel for severe duty usage, such as trailer towing. Use only UNLEADED fuel or UNLEADED fuel blended with a maximum of 15% ethanol and a minimum octane rating of 87. Do not use any other fuel because it could damage or impair the emission control system.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

The tire pressure monitoring system allows you to view the tire pressure readings through the instrument cluster display. When one or more of your tires are underinflated, your vehicle turns on the low tire pressure warning light in the instrument cluster. If this happens, stop and check your tires as soon as possible. Inflate them to the proper pressure. Refer to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System chapter of your Owner’s Manual for more information.

**TIRE SEALANT AND INFLATOR KIT***

The tire sealant and inflator kit consists of an air compressor to re-inflate the tire and a canister of sealing compound that effectively seals most punctures. This kit provides a temporary tire repair allowing you to drive your vehicle up to 120 mi (200 km) at a maximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h) to reach a tire service location. The temporary mobility kit contains enough sealant compound in the canister for one tire repair only. See your authorized Ford dealer for replacement sealant canisters.

The kit is located under the load floor in the rear of the vehicle. For complete information on using the tire sealant and inflator kit, refer to the Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit chapter of your Owner’s Manual.

LOCATION OF SPARE TIRE AND TOOLS

Your spare tire and tools are under the carpeted load floor panel. A dissimilar spare tire is designed for emergency use only and should be replaced as soon as possible. For complete details on changing your tire, refer to the Changing a Road Wheel chapter of your Owner’s Manual.
