- Ensure emergency brake cables are not touching the SuperSprings. Secure any cables out of the way with zip ties or by re-routing.
- Ensure all A/C lines, brake cables, and frames are clear of contact or interference.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Your part may have been loosely preassembled to show the final product as it will be once installed on your vehicle. Please disassemble the product before proceeding to the installation.
INSTALLATION
- Park vehicle of level hard surface. Place wheel blocks in front and behind the front wheels to prevent rolling. Observe all safety precautions and wear safety glasses.
- Raise the rear of the vehicle allowing the axle to hang free and rest the frame on the safety jack stands rated for the vehicle. Removal of the rear wheels is optional.
- Remove the factory jounce bumpethe rs from the underside of the frame and set aside for possible re-installation in the eventuality that the SumoSprings may be removed at a later date.
- Assemble the top bracket assembly by bolting the Top Bracket [ITEM B] to the top of the Sumospring upper [ITEM A] using two 3/8-16 x 7/8″ FHCS [ITEM H] as indicated. Then attach the upper assembly to the frame using the same two bolt-holes from which the bump-stop was removed using two M8 Nylock Nuts [ITEM I] and two M8 Flat Washers [ITEM J] per the diagram.
- Assemble the lower bracket assembly by first installing the two 3/8-16 x 6″ FHCS [ITEM G] and then attaching the Sumospring Lower [ITEM A] to the Bottom Bracket [ITEM C] using a 3/8-16 x 7/8″ FHCS [ITEM H]. Do not fully tighten 3/8-16 x 7/8″ FHCS [ITEM H] to allow for later adjustment.
- Place the lower bracket assembly on the driver side axle housing with the cut-out in the Lower Bracket [ITEM C] facing toward the wheel as shown in the exploded view. (On the passenger side the cut-out faces away from the wheel.) Lift and tilt and twist the assembly ensuring the ears of the Lower Bracket lodge between the factory u-bolts and the factory spring-pack and the assembly rests on the factory jounce pad. The ears of the Lower Bracket lock into the factory u-bolts. Ensure that the Sumospring lower aligns with the Sumospring upper in the upper bracket assembly. With a pencil clearly mark the location on the Sumospring lower on the Lower Bracket [ITEM C]. Then remove the lower bracket assembly and tighten the 3/8-16 x 7/8″ FHCS [ITEM H] ensuring the Sumospring lower aligns with the pencil marks. Then re-install the lower bracket assembly as before.
- Attach the Axle Clamp [ITEM D] to the hanging 3/8-16 x 6″ FHCS [ITEM G] using two 3/8 Flat Washers [ITEM E] and two 3/8 Nylock Nuts [ITEM F] ensuring the o-set in the Axle Clamp is to the rear to align with the assembly.
- Repeat steps 3 through 7 on the passenger side of the vehicle.
- If rear wheels were removed you can now reinstall the rear wheels.
- Jack up vehicle, remove safety jack stands and lower the vehicle to the hard surface. Remove front wheel blocks.
- Register the warranty for your SuperSprings International part. A warranty card can be found in the box your part came in.
