INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on the purchase of your new ACCU-SCOPE® DS-360 LED diascopic stand for stereo microscopy. ACCU-SCOPE products are engineered and manufactured to the highest quality standards. Your microscope and stand will last a lifetime if used and maintained properly. ACCU-SCOPE products are carefully assembled, inspected and tested by our staff of trained technicians in our New York distribution facility. Careful quality control procedures ensure each microscope is of the highest quality prior to shipment.

UNPACKING AND COMPONENTS

Your DS-360 stand arrived packed in an environmentally friendly shipping carton. Do not discard the carton: the shipping carton should be retained for reshipment of your stand if needed. Avoid placing the stand (with or without microscope) in dusty surroundings or in high temperature or humid areas as mold and mildew can form. Carefully remove the stand from the shipping carton and place the stand on a flat, vibration-free surface.

ASSEMBLY

NOTE: Allow your stereo microscope and stand to come to room temperature before use. Cold components may result in internal condensation and potential failure of electrical components.

1. Carefully remove the contents of the box and place on a secure, flat surface.
2. Place the DS-360 stand on a flat surface

Included:
DS-360 stand with attached focus track and microscope mount, plastic arm rest, 180mm glass stage plate, LED light, power adapter/controller, AC line cord.

3. Place the glass stage plate into position on the base.

4. Align the slots in the arm rest to the silver “buttons” on the base and slide the arm rest down over the buttons until the top of the arm rest is flush with the working surface of the base.

5. Insert the LED light into the back of the stand. The thumb screw may need to be loosened to insert the LED light completely. Tighten the thumb screw until snug, but do not overtighten.

6. Loosen the locking screw in the microscope mount and place your stereo microscope into the circular mount. Tighten the locking screw until snug, but do not overtighten.

7. Plug the adapter/controller into the back of the LED light.

8. Plug the AC line cord into the adapter/controller. Plug the other end into a suitable 110V AC receptacle.

OPERATION

NOTE: For stereo microscope assembly and operation, please refer to the manual that accompanied your stereo microscope.

  1. Place a specimen on the center of the stage plate.
  2. Turn on the power switch, and then adjust intensity by turning the knob on the control box.
  3. Ensure the eyepiece diopters are set properly (according to the instructions that accompanied your stereo microscope).
  4. Adjust the tension of the focus knobs if necessary. To adjust tension, grasp both focus knobs and rotate in opposite directions until the desired tension is reached. Turning the right focus knob clockwise and the left focus knob counterclockwise will increase tension.
  5. Adjust the mirror for specimen viewing. The DS-360 is equipped with a two-sided mirror one side is a polished mirror and the other side has a silver metallic (frosted) surface. While looking through the eyepieces and with the specimen in focus, slowly adjust the mirror angle using the mirror adjustment knob on the right side of the base. Try both sides of the mirror and choose the view and contrast that is most suitable for your sample. You may need to adjust the mirror angle if you change magnification or zoom on your microscope.

SERVICE

ACCU-SCOPE® microscopes are precision instruments which require periodic servicing to keep them performing properly and to compensate for normal wear. A regular schedule of preventative maintenance by qualified personnel is highly recommended. Your authorized ACCU-SCOPE distributor can arrange for this service. Should unexpected problems be experienced with your instrument, proceed as follows:

1. Contact the ACCU-SCOPE distributor from whom you purchased the microscope. Some problems can be resolved simply over the telephone.

2. If it is determined that the microscope should be returned to your ACCU- SCOPE distributor or to ACCU-SCOPE for warranty repair, pack the instrument in its original Styrofoam shipping carton. If you no longer have this carton, pack the microscope in a crush-resistant carton with a minimum of three inches of a shock absorbing material surrounding it to prevent in-transit damage. The microscope should be wrapped in a plastic bag to prevent Styrofoam dust from damaging the microscope. Always ship the microscope in an upright position; NEVER SHIP A MICROSCOPE ON ITS SIDE.
