Product Information
The HALO HORIZON S3 is a body camera equipped with various features and functions. It has a panic/pre-record button, a record button, a function button, a single dock, an LCD screen, a USB-C port, a SIM tray, an LED light ring, and a power button. The camera also has a display screen that shows different symbols andinformation related to its settings and operations.
Display Screen Information
- WIFI connected/WIFI disconnected: Indicates the camera’s Wi-Fi connection status
- GPS signal low/GPS connected: Shows the GPS signal strength
- Record counter – Hours: Minutes: Seconds: Displays the duration of the current recording
- Battery level: Indicates the remaining battery power
- Recording resolution: Shows the resolution of the recorded footage
- Pre-recording ON/Post-recording OFF: Indicates the status of pre-recording and post-recording functions
- Bluetooth on/Bluetooth connected: Shows the Bluetooth connection status
- Remaining storage and Total storage space: Displays the available and total storage capacity
- Camera is connected to PC via USB/Charging completed: Indicates USB connection and charging status
- Number of files uploading/File upload progress: Shows the progress of file uploads
- Offline ethernet connection/Online ethernet connection: Indicates Ethernet connection status
- WPS has been activated on the camera: Indicates WPS activation
- Camera is full: Indicates that the camera’s storage is full
- Livestream protocol is now active: Indicates the activation of the livestream protocol
Product Usage Instructions
Turning the camera on/off:
To turn the camera on:
- Hold the power button for three seconds.
- The camera will vibrate, and the HALO logo will appear on the display screen for a few seconds.
- When successfully powered up, the screen will change to the default display.
- The light ring on the front of the camera will change to solid blue.
To power down the camera:
- Hold the power button for three seconds.
- The camera will vibrate, the HALO logo will appear on the display screen, and the display will turn off.
- The blue light ring will also turn off.
Capturing footage
To record footage:
- Single press the Record button.
- The light ring on the front of the camera will start to pulse blue.
- The camera will vibrate, and a recording counter (time) will appear on the camera screen.
To stop recording:
- Single press the Record button again.
- The light ring will stop pulsing blue.
- The counter on the screen will disappear.

Display screen:
The below image shows what each symbol on the screen does. Once the camera is
turned on, you can brighten the display by tapping the power button on the
side of the camera.

WiFi:
The body cameras are generally pre-configured with the customer’s SSID and
password prior to shipping and will connect automatically to the pre-
configured access point once it is in range. You can also connect the Camera
to the access point using WPS (if enabled). If the body camera is disconnected
from wifi, this symbol will appear.
If the body camera is connected to WiFi, it will indicate signal strength by how many bars change from grey to white. This image indicates the WiFi is connected, and the signal strength is strong.
Storage : ****
Each Horizon body camera has 58GB available storage for footage capture. In the above image, ‘2’ stands for the amount of storage left to use, whereas 58GB shows the total amount of storage the camera can hold.
2 = Storage left to use. 56GB has been used, and 2GB is left.
58 = Is the overall amount of storage the camera can hold.
Pre-recording
When pre-record is active a red P (above) will appear on the camera screen.
Depending on how the body camera is configured, pre-record can be activated
and deactivated by the user.
- Activating pre-record
- Hold the P button found on the side of the body camera
- The red P shown above will appear on screen
Charging
The docking station can fast charge the body camera, and provide a wired
internet connection, using an RJ45 cable. The body camera and docking station
use magnets, which assist the user in placing the camera in the dock
correctly.
To charge the body camera, place it in either the single charging dock or any
of the 10 positions in the multi-dock charger. The battery symbol on the
screen of the camera will animate to show the progress of charging.
- When the camera is charging: The ring on the front of the camera will flash white.
- When the camera is fully charged: The LED ring on the front of the camera will be solid white light.
- If there are no lights on the camera, make sure there is power going to the charging dock and the connection of the cables are secured.
Multidock internet connectivity
The docking station has 2 RJ45 ports. Either port can be used for providing an
internet connection to the body camera, or daisy-chaining another multidock,
to provide an internet connection to another 10 cameras.
When placed in the docking station, the top left of the camera screen will display the symbol to the right, which indicates the camera is in the dock, but it has not obtained an IP address.
After a few seconds in the dock or a few seconds after an RJ45 cable is inserted into the docking station, this symbol will change to green. This indicates that the camera has obtained an IP address on the network.
Function button
The function button (FN) is found on the side of the camera and can be configured to have various features.
Video Tagging
By default, the FN button can tag a recording as evidential. If you press the
FN button, during a recording. The camera will vibrate and tell Halo Vault to
mark this piece of footage as evidential, once it has been uploaded.
WPS
If WPS has been enabled on the camera, press the FN button for one second, the
camera will vibrate and activate. On the camera screen, it will say ‘WPS
Active’. WPS will stay active on the camera for 60 seconds and then
automatically turn off. For more WPS information, please read the WPS
instructions manual.
Footage upload
Each Horizon body camera has footage upload capabilities. If the camera is
given internet connectivity (by either Wifi or RJ45). It will automatically
check itself for footage every minute, on the minute. Depending on the size of
the file, within around 10 seconds the screen will update to indicate the
uploading is in progress.
File count
At the start of the upload process, the camera screen will update to show how many files there are to upload, and which file is currently about to be processed. The below example indicates that the camera is currently uploading file number 6 out of a total of 10. This also means that files 1-5 have already been uploaded.
Live stream
Each Horizon body camera has Live Streaming capabilities through the use of
WiFi and 4G. Once Live stream has be activated by the user, the below symbol
will appear on the screen of the camera.
Depending on how the camera has been configured, Live stream can be activated
and deactivated by the user.
- Activating Live Stream – Hold the record button in for 3 seconds, the camera will vibrate and the Live stream symbol will appear on the screen.
- Deactivating Live Stream – Hold the record button in for 3 seconds, the camera will vibrate and the Live stream symbol will disappear on the screen.
Upload progress
The screen will display the upload progress of each individual file. This image shows that the upload of a specific file is 59% complete. Within a few seconds of reaching 100%, the file will be deleted from the camera, and available for review in HALO Vault.
GPS
Each Horizon body camera can record GPS coordinates. By default, the current GPS location is recorded on every video frame. If the GPS signal is low, for example when the camera is indoors, the location will not be recorded. The symbol on the screen will be grey.
When the GPS signal is strong, the symbol will change to green. This means the coordinates are being recorded by the body camera and burned on each video frame.
FCC Certification
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- This device may not cause harmful interference, and
- This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
NOTE : This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radiocommunications.
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
The device has been evaluated to meet general RF exposure requirement. The device can be used in portable exposure condition without restriction However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
