Apply penetrating oil generously to clamps, fasteners, pipes, and hanger rods
for ease of disassembly.

Before installing clamps in the following steps, remove their nuts, apply anti-seize compound to the bolt threads, and re-install the nuts.

BEFORE STARTING:
Your vehicle must be raised a minimum of 18 inches. A floor hoist is ideal. If
no hoist is available, we strongly urge the use of axle stands as a safety
measure. Please read and understand these instructions and disclaimer in their
entirety before attempting installation.
CAUTION! WORK ONLY ON A LEVEL SURFACE. USE JACKS /JACK STANDS OF
SUFFICIENT CAPACITY TO LIFT AND SUPPORT YOUR VEHICLE. NEVER WORK UNDER A
VEHICLE SUPPORTED BY A FLOOR OR BUMPER JACK.
Removing the OEM Exhaust:
Apply penetrating oil to all fasteners and rubber exhaust hangers isolators prior to disassembly.
- Remove the spare tire.
- Remove the M8 bolts at the flange that connects the tailpipe to the muffler (A). Fig.1
- Spray the exhaust isolator at the tailpipe hanger with spray lube. Remove the Rubber Isolator (B). Fig.2
- Remove the tailpipe.
NOTE: It may be necessary to raise the vehicle and allow the axle to drop slightly to allow the tailpipe to clear the axle and suspension components. Removing the OEM Exhaust: Continued
5. Remove the spring bolts from the flanges on the Y-Pipe at the catalytic converters (C). Fig.3
6. Support the muffler and Y-pipe.
7. Spray the remaining exhaust isolators (D) at the front and rear of the muffler with spray lube.
8. Remove the isolators from the front and rear of the muffler Fig.3.
9. Remove the muffler and Y-Pipe assembly.
INSTALL YOUR FLOWMASTER EXHAUST SYSTEM
- Install the left (3) and right (1) Muffler Inlet pipes using the OEM spring bolts (C). Be sure the limiting shoulder of the bolt extends through the hole in the flange.
NOTE: Support the inlet pipes while installing the spring bolts to prevent the donut gasket on the catalytic converter from being damaged until the muffler is installed.
Determine if you need the extension pipes.
- Use the reference list to determine if you need to use the provided wheelbase extension pipes.
- If no extension pipe is required – Skip to Step.5

Trimming and installing the extension pipe if needed

Measure from the straight end of the extension pipe (not the expanded end). Mark the pipe at 67/8”, cut the pipe, and deburr the pipe inside and out.

Install the extension pipes (4) if required on to the left and right inlet pipes (1 & 3). Fig.4

Install a supplied band clamp (5) on to the extension pipe and align with the expanded and notched end of the extension pipe and tighten.
Installation Continued:

Install a 2.5” band clamp (5) on each Muffler inlet with the bolt to the outside and and the nut facing the ground. Fig.5

Install the muffler (2) onto the inlet pipes with the hanger rods on the top, support the muffler. Fig.5

Install the (2) rubber isolators located over the muffler. Slide the isolator on to the muffler and vehicle hanger rods at the same time. Tighten the clamps (5) to allow for adjustment. Fig.5

Install a supplied 3” band clamp (9) on to the muffler outlet with the bolt to the inside and nut facing the ground. Fig.6

Install the Muffler Outlet pipe (7) into the muffler. Fig.6

Install the (x2) rubber isolators (D) on to the hanger rods. Tighten the clamp to allow for adjustment Fig.6
Installation Continued:

Install a 3” band clamp (9) on to the expanded end of the tailpipe (8) with the bolt on the outside and the nut facing the ground. Fig.7

Install the expanded end of tailpipe (8) over the axle and on to the muffler outlet pipe (7). Fig.7

Install the Exhaust Isolator (B) at the frame hanger. Fig.8

Install a 3” band clamp (9) on to the expanded end of the tailpipe extension (6). Fig.9

Install the tailpipe extension (6) on to the tailpipe outlet (8) and tighten the clamp to allow for adjustment.

Install the 4.5” Black Tip (10) on to the tailpipe extension. Tighten the clamp to allow for adjustment.

Adjust the exhaust for the best fitment and clearance. Tighten the hardware and clamps starting at the front and work your way to the rear of the vehicle.
Your Flowmaster exhaust may emit smoke after installation. This is normal
break-in and will subside after the first few miles of driving.
