MAKING THE HALF-SQUARE TRIANGLES
Press all seams open or to the dark side.
A + FABRIC A + FABRIC D = MAKE 4
Making the FPP Sawtooth Stars
- Print two copies and cut out the Sawtooth star FPP pattern.
- Sew sets together following your favourite FPP method. Follow the chart below for colour placement.
- Sew B to C. Press with a hot iron.
- Sew BC to A. Press.
- Sew BCA to D. Press and set aside. Repeat for a total of 4 stars.
Sewing the Block Together
- Sew blocks together following the chart below. Press seams open or to the side.
- Sew rows together following the chart below.

Please read through all instructions before beginning
- RST means Right Sides Together
- All seam allowances are 1/4”
- WOF means the width of the fabric.
- Pattern assumes most WOF are 42” and unwashed
Colour Options
Fabric Amounts
Cutting instructions
- Corner HSTs.
- Cut (1) 7¼” square from fabric D.
- Cut (1) 7¼” square from fabric A.
- Sawtooth stars
- Cut (4) 3” squares for the centre of the stars from fabric B.
- Fabric scraps at least 1½” or larger for the HSTs in both fabrics A and D.
- Centre square from fabric D.
- Cut (1) 4½” square
MAKING THE HALF-SQUARE TRIANGLES
- Press all seams open or to the dark side.
- Using the 4-at-a-time method, with your fabric A 7¼ “ square, place the right sides together with your 7¼” fabric D square.
- With a seam allowance of 1/4”, sew around the perimeter of the stacked squares.
- When, draw two diagonal lines from corner to corner. The lines will cross at the centre point, forming an X.
- Cut along these diagonal lines to make 4 half-square triangle units. Press with a hot iron and trim the HSTs to 4½”.
