Product Information

The 10GBase-T to 10GBase-R Media Converter is a device that allows for the conversion between 10GBase-T Ethernet signals and 10GBase-R fiber optic signals. It is designed to provide a seamless connection between copper-based networks and fiber optic networks.  The media converter requires an SFP+ transceiver module to provide the fiber optic connections.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Insert the SFP+ transceiver module into the media converter.
  2. Install the fiber optic cable into the transceiver.
  3. Connect the other end of the fiber optic cable to an appropriate port in your fiber network.
  4. Plug the 12 VDC power adapter into the input jack on the media converter.
  5. Connect the power adapter to a regular power outlet.

Note: Make sure to use the included power adapter or one with matching specifications (output of 12 VDC, 1A).

Connections

\(1\) Twisted Pair – RJ45
Connect the UTP port of the media converter to an RJ45 port on the network; e.g., to an Ethernet switch. Cat5e or better cabling is recommended.

SFP+ Slot
This media converter requires an SFP+ transceiver module that provides fiber optic connections.

  1. Insert the transceiver into the media converter. Next, install the fiber optic cable into the transceiver.
  2. Install the other end of the fiber optic cable into an appropriate port in your fiber network.
  3. Maximum length and fiber cable specification depend on the model.

Power
Plug the 12 VDC power adapter into the input jack on the media converter. Then connect it to a regular power outlet. Only use the included power adapter or one with matching specifications (output of 12 VDC, 1 A).
