  • 1 CR123A battery
  • 1 mounting base
  • 1 removable stand
  • 2 screws and plugs
  • 1 adhesive mount
  • 1 user manual

The sensor lifetime is 15 years in a standard domestic environment (temperature between 15°C and 30°C).
The sensor can be used in an unusual domestic environment (temperature between 0°C and 50°C). Repeated and/or prolonged use in this unusual environment may reduce the battery lifetime and the performance of the sensor.

COMMISSIONING

Switch on
To start, insert the supplied battery.
Compatible batteries: CR123A/ CR17335/CR17345
Recommended: VARTA CR123A
The green LED on the front of the sensor lights up and stays on for 5 seconds, then flashes once and goes off, two beeps sound, the sensor is switched on.
Connecting to the wireless network
Follow the installation steps indicated on the smartphone application.

  • QR code with installation code on the back of the product
  • Pair manually by briefly pressing the button on the back of the sensor. The app will indicate a successful pairing after the LED has gone out.

The LED on the back of the sensor will flash every second during the pairing process. The green LED will stay on for 15 seconds if the process is successful. The LED will be red and steady for 15 seconds if the process has failed.

INSTALLATION

Recommended locations
The sensor is intended for indoor domestic use only. Ideally, the sensor should be placed in a central location in the room, between 50cm and 2m high. Try to place it away from draughty areas (doors, windows, etc.) and away from areas near heat sources (radiators, direct sunlight, etc.).
Places to avoid

  • less than 30 centimeters from the ceiling, and more than 2 metres from the floor
  • in the open air
  • in a place where the temperature is below 0°C or above 50°C
  • in a place where there is a risk of condensation
  • in a dusty or dirty place (garage, workshop, etc.)

Mounting description
Mounting base for wall mounting

Removable bracket for free standing

Wall mouting
Use the mounting base, the screws and the plugs supplied with the sensor. Alternatively, you can mount the sensor using the included adhesive backing.
Installation with screws and dowels

To ensure that the sensor is correctly mounted (level) on the wall, proceed as follows:

  • Draw a line of about 5 centimeters on your wall with a level
  • Position the mounting base on the line with the «UP» marking and the arrows pointing upwards. The small ears on both sides of the base should follow the bottom edge of the line
  • Mark the screw holes with a pencil, then drill the holes
  • Insert the nylon plugs provided and screw the base plate in place

Fitting with adhesive fixing

  • Place the adhesive on the mounting base and press firmly with your fingers for 10 seconds
  •  Remove the adhesive protection and stick the mounting base to the wall
  • Press firmly with your fingers for 10 seconds and wait 30 seconds
  • Place the sensor on the mounting base and turn it a quarter turn to the right to secure it.

You should hear a «click», indicating that the sensor is attached to its mounting base.
Check that the sensor is securely fixed to the wall.
Free standing
Use the removable bracket supplied with the sensor.
Follow the procedure below:

  • Place the removable bracket on the back of the sensor, then turn it a quarter turn to the right to secure it
  • Place the sensor on a piece of furniture or shelf, ideally within one meter from the floor, to avoid damage if the sensor is accidentally dropped

You should hear a «click», indicating that the sensor is correctly attached to the removable bracket.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The LED indicator flashes in Orange or Red every 3 seconds if the Indoor Air Quality deteriorates and alerts the occupant of the level of CO2 measured in the indoor air. If the level is Very good, the LED doesn’t blink unless you press the button.
Very good (CO2 < 800 ppm)
Average (800 < CO2 < 1 500 ppm)
Warning (CO2 > 1 500 ppm)
The CO2 levels (expressed in ppm) corresponding to the LED indicator are set by default but can be configured and/or disabled using your application.
You can briefly press the central button to measure and view the Indoor Air Quality level instantly. A beep informs you that the button has been pressed and that the measurement has been correctly transmitted to the application.
After a long press (> 3 seconds), two successive flashes are repeated 5 times.

  • The first flashing indicates the connection status:
    Green: the product is connected
Red: the product is not connected

  • The second flashing indicates 3 states
      Green: correct operation
    Orange: battery low
    Red: hardware problem

Switching off
Simply remove the battery. All the LEDs are OFF, the sensor is switched OFF.
Reset the connection
Press the button on the back of the sensor 3 times within 3 seconds. The orange LED is fixed for 3 seconds, then becomes fixed green for 15 seconds. The sensor will then reboot and the LEDs will perform the same steps as when you turn ON your product.
Why calibrating the sensor ?
The CO2 level measurement is performed using optical infrared technology (NDIR: non-dispersive infrared). This technology has a drift that the sensor automatically compensates for using an ABC (Automatic Baseline Correction) method, which eliminates the need for manual maintenance and maintains accuracy of CO2 measurements throughout the life of the sensor.
This method is effective and reliable in a typical environment, where the CO2 level reaches its minimum level (400 ppm) during a few hours (night and weekend for premises, daytime in a room).
This calibration is performed automatically every 8 days.
How do I calibrate the sensor ?
You can also perform a manual calibration. To do this :

  • Place your sensor near an open window or outside for at least 2 minutes
  • Press the button on the back of the sensor for 5 seconds

The orange LED on the back of the sensor will be steady for the duration of the calibration. It then turns green for 5 seconds when calibration is complete.
End of battery life
It is possible to monitor the battery status on the dedicated application, throughout the life of the product. On the product, the end of battery life is indicated if no event is triggered when a button is pressed. As soon as the battery is empty, it must be replaced.

MAINTENANCE

Clean the sensor every year:

  • Remove dust with the brush attachment of your hoover
  • Any bugs, spider webs or dust clusters near your sensor should be removed.

Warning
Do not use a compressed air canister or equivalent.

PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS

For your safety, please observe the following:

  • Do not install the sensor in one of the places to avoid (see §3)
  • Do not paint, cover, disassemble, modify or damage the sensor
  • The sensor must remain permanently installed
  • The manufacturer recommends annual maintenance of the sensors
  • It is recommended to install one sensor per room and per 100 m2 for an optimal measurement of CO2
  • The product must be put into service within a maximum of 5 years after the manufacturing date (indicated on the back of the product)
  • The user should maintain a radio frequency exposure distance of 20 centimeters

Disposal of a battery into fire or hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, that can result in an explosion.
The sensor incorporates a changeable battery with a 3 year life designed to:

  • provide CO2 detection for 3 years
  • perform CO2, temperature and humidity measurements every 5 minutes

Some conditions may damage the sensor, reduce sensitivity and/ or battery life and thus reduce the expected 3-year battery life:

  • Exposure to temperatures or humidity different from normal operating conditions (see §1)
  • Use of a battery not recommended (see §2)

RECYCLING

The sensor should not be thrown in household waste bin in accordance with the European Directive 2002/96/ EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
The sensor must be brought to an appropriate collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Observe state disposal laws.
With your cooperation, you help to eliminate the potential effects of hazardous materials on the environment and human health, as well as to enhance reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery.
NEXELEC is a member of the ecoorganisation ECOLOGIC
Warning
The sensor contains a lithium battery.
Do not dispose of the sensor in fire, melt or incinerate it.
