The motorization must be installed and adjusted by a professional motorization and home automation installer, in compliance with the regulations of the country in which it is to be used.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury, e.g. due to crushing by the door.

Caution – Important safety instructions

WARNING


For reasons of personal safety, it is important to follow all the instructions, as incorrect installation can lead to serious injury. Retain these instructions.
The installer must train all users to ensure the motorization is used in complete safety, in accordance with the user manual.
The user manual and installation manual must be given to the end user. The installer must explain clearly to the end user that installation, adjustment and maintenance  of the motorization must be performed by a professional motorization and home automation installer.

Introduction

> Important information

This product is a motor for vertically opening garage doors, for residential use.

To ensure compliance with the standard EN 60335-2-95, this product must be installed with a Somfy receiver for roller garage doors designed for residential use, opening and closing vertically, and a Somfy safety edge solution. The assembly is designated as a “motorization”. The main purpose of these instructions is to satisfy the requirements of the aforementioned standard and to ensure the safety of equipment and persons.

WARNING


Any use of this product outside the field of application described in these instructions is prohibited (see “Field  of application” paragraph in the installation manual). Such use, and any failure to comply with the instructions given in this guide, absolves Somfy of any liability and invalidates the warranty. The use of any safety accessories not validated by Somfy is prohibited.

If in any doubt when installing the motorisation or to obtain additional information, visit the website www.somfy.com. The instructions may be modified if and when there is a change in the standards or the motorisation.

Preliminary checks

> Installation environment

ATTENTION

Do not spray water onto the motorisation.
Do not install the motorisation in an explosive atmosphere. The motorisation must be installed in a location protected from bad weather.
Check that the temperature range marked on the motorisation is suited to the installation location.

> Condition of the door to be motorised 

Before installing the motorisation, check that:

  • the door is in good mechanical condition
  • it can be opened and closed properly,
  • the door mountings are in good condition.

> Cable feed 

If the motor is to be used outdoors, the PVC power supply cable [WF, 60227 (IEC)] must be installed in a duct (under a tray).

Safety instructions relating to installation

WARNING


Before installing the motorisation, remove any unnecessary cords or chains and deactivate any locking device (bolt) which is not required for motorised operation.

DANGER


A fall protection device must be installed to ensure personal safety and prevent damage to equipment if one of the connection components between the transmission and the door shaft accidentally ruptures. Use a fall protection device referenced in the documentation available from your Somfy adviser.

WARNING


Modifying one of the elements provided in this kit or using an additional element not recommended in this manual is strictly prohibited.

Do not use adhesive to secure the motorisation. Install the operating element less than 1.80 m from the ground.
As the mobile component of the repair device is removable, it is recommended to store it in the immediate vicinity of the door.
Fasten the label concerning crushing and the manual override mechanism close to the operating element in a highly visible location or close to any fixed control devices. After installation, check that the manual override mechanism works correctly.

> Clothing precautions 

Take off any jewellery (bracelet, chain, etc.) during installation.
For manoeuvring, drilling and welding operations, wear appropriate protection ( special glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.).

TROUBLESHOOTING

The motor does not work

Check:

  • the motor wiring
  • the thermal contact (wait for the motor to cool down)
  • the conformity of the cable used ( 4 conductors)

The device stops too early

Check:

  • the operation of the end limits while the motor is rotating
  • that the drive sprocket is firmly attached to the tube
  • that the motor end limits are correctly configured
