Intended use
The CondenseSpot Pro is an infrared temperature-measuring device with an
integrated hygrometer and a Digital Connection interface for transferring
measured data. Non-contact temperature measurement of surfaces is realized by
measuring and evaluating the amount of electromagnetic energy in the infrared
wavelength range. The device can also be used to measure all relevant climate
data and calculate the dew point. This makes it possible to assess thermal
bridges and condensation moisture

- Release the button as soon as the target laser pinpoints the measurement location. The measured value is held (Hold).
Infrared temperature: Setting the emissivity
An integrated sensor head detects the material/surface-specific infrared radiation emitted by all objects. The level of these emissions is determined by the specific emissivity of the material (0,01 to 1,00). After switching it on for the first time, the device is preset to an emissivity factor of 0.95, which is suitable for most organic materials and non-metals (plastics, ceramics, wood, rubber, paints, varnishes, and stone). For materials with different emissivity factors, refer to the table under Point 6.
Wherever possible, paint or matt black stickers can be applied on non-coated metals and metal oxides, which due to their low, temperature-unstable emissivity are suitable for IR measurement only for a limited extent, as well as on surfaces with unknown emissivity to set the emissivity factor to 0.95. If this is not possible, use a contact thermometer.
The emissivity last selected is set after the device is switched on! Check the emissivity setting before each measurement.

Infrared temperature: MAX/MIN temperature
MAX/MIN mode refers to the infrared temperature and shows the maximum and minimum infrared temperature. The MAX/MIN values are determined while measuring when the trigger (8) is pressed. The value is deleted and calculated again at the start of a new measurement or by pressing the trigger (8).
Room climate measured values
The measuring device features a fold-out sensor that measures the ambient
temperature and relative humidity while also calculating the dew point
temperature. By folding out the sensor, the improved through-flow of air
speeds up the measurement procedure.
When changing location and/or where there are large differences in the room climate, it is important to give the measuring device time to adapt until the measured values in the display have stabilized! The measured ambient temperature and relative humidity values are automatically updated! and is not dependent on when the trigger button is pressed.
Condensation warning
The dew point temperature is the point the temperature must drop below for
the air to precipitate its water vapor in the form of droplets, mist, or dew.
Condensation water therefore occurs for example when the temperature of an
inside wall or window reveal is lower than the dew point temperature of the
room. These areas are then damp and are a breeding ground for mildew/mold with
possible material damage.
The CondenseSpot Pro calculates the dew point with the integrated sensors for ambient temperature and relative humidity. At the same time, the surface temperature of objects is determined with the aid of infrared temperature measurement. By comparing this temperature it is possible to identify areas that are exposed to the risk of condensation moisture. The condensation moisture indicator (b) displays the result in the form of a bar graph, supported by visual and acoustic signals indicating the high probability of condensation moisture occurring.
- No risk of condensation moisture
- Slight risk of condensation moisture „ “ symbol flashing
- Risk of condensation moisture „ symbol flashing with an acoustic signal
The condensation moisture indicator (b) is shown in all modes. The device therefore constantly shows the risk level of condensation moisture. The visual and acoustic signals can be turned off by pressing the alarm function button (3). The symbols “ ” (m) and “ ” (n) indicate whether the alarm function is active or not.
Thermal bridge warning
In relation to buildings, the term thermal bridge refers to an area, e.g.
an inside wall, at which heat is transferred outwards faster than at the rest
of the inside wall. When viewed from the inside, the temperature of this area
is lower than the surrounding areas, and when viewed from the outside higher
than the surrounding areas. This often indicates faulty or inadequate
insulation. For this purpose, the CondenseSpot Pro compares the ambient
temperature with the surface temperature. If there are large differences in
both temperatures, the device will trigger warnings in 2 stages:
The symbol flashes at the threshold or the display illumination changes to ‘blue’ or ‘red’ if the differential is significant.
- Ambient temperature/ surface temperature differential: < 3.5°C no thermal bridge
- Ambient temperature/surface temperature differential.: ≥ 3.5°C possible thermal bridge, the “ ” flashes, check area again
- Ambient temperature/ surface temperature differential: ≥ 6.5°C thermal bridge, Blue display, and the “ ” symbol flashes
- Ambient temperature/surface temperature differential: ≥ -6.5°C thermal bridge, Red display, and the “ ” symbol flashes
The visual and acoustic signals can be turned off by pressing the alarm function button (3). The symbols “ ” (m) and “ ” (n) indicate whether the alarm function is active or not.
Data transfer
The device features a Digital Connection function that enables wireless data
transfer to mobile devices with a Digital Connection interface (such as a
smartphone or tablet). The system prerequisites for a Digital Connection
connection are specified at https://packd.li/ble/v2
The device can set up a Digital Connection connection with Bluetooth 4.0 compatible devices. The range is set to a maximum distance of 10 m from the terminal device and greatly depends on the ambient conditions such as the thickness and composition of walls, sources of interference as well as the transmit/receive properties ofthe terminal device. Once it has been activated, Digital Connection remains switched on indefinitely as the radio system is designed with exceptionally low power consumption. A mobile device can link up to the active measuring device via an app.
Application (app)
An app is required to use the Digital Connection function. You can download
the app from the corre-sponding stores for the specific type of terminal
device:
Make sure that the Digital Connection interface of the mobile device is activated.
After starting the app, a connection can be set up between a mobile device and the measuring device. If the app detects several active measuring devices, select the matching device. This measuring device can be connected automatically the next time it is switched on.
