Product Information

The HLL5000D, HLL5100DN, HLL5200DW, HLL5200DWT, HLL6200DW, and HLL6200DWT are models of Brother printers. Not all models are available in all countries. The latest manuals can be found at the Brother Solutions Center. The product safety guide and reference guide are included with the machine. The USB cable recommended for use is a USB 2.0 cable (Type A/B) that is no more than 6 feet (2 meters) long. The network cable required for certain models is a straight- through Category 5 (or greater) twisted-pair cable. The parallel cable provided by the machine is used for the HLL5000D model.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Remove the packing materials and install the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Discard the silica gel pack.
2. Load paper in the paper tray. Adjust the paper guides and remove the orange part.
3. Connect the power cord and turn on the machine.
4. Select your language (if needed):
5. Press the arrow buttons to select [General Setup], and then press OK.
6. Press OK to select [Local Language].
7. Press the arrow buttons to select your language, and then press OK.
8. Press Cancel.
9. Connect your machine and install the software:
   • If using the HLL5000D model, check for the latest firmware at solutions.brother.com/up1.
   • Choose your connection type for other models and follow the onscreen instructions to continue the installation.
   • If using a wireless network connection, follow the instructions to set it up without a USB cable or use the alternate wireless configuration method (Setup Wizard).
10. Finish the installation by following the onscreen instructions.

Unpack the machine and check the components

NOTE:

• The available connection interfaces vary depending on the model.

• You must purchase the correct interface cable for the interface you want to use.

  • USB cable
    We recommend using a USB 2.0 cable (Type A/B) that is no more than 6 feet (2 meters) long.

  • Network cable
    (For HL-L5100DN / HL-L5200DW(T) / HL-L6200DW(T))
    Use a straight-through Category 5 (or greater) twisted-pair cable.

  • Parallel cable
    (For HL-L5000D)
    Use the parallel cable provided by the machine.

• The illustrations in this Quick Setup Guide show the HL-L6200DW.

5.  Press ▼ or ▲ to select [General Setup], and then press OK.

9. Connect your machine and install the software

Alternate wireless configuration method

(Setup Wizard)

Print using your mobile device (not available for HL-L5000D)

Before printing from your mobile device, your machine must be configured according to step 5 or the Alternate wireless configuration method (Setup Wizard).
