GETTING STARTED
To power on your new device, Press up on the Power Switch (1) for 3 seconds.
The unit will power up into the main menu, with Recorder mode selected.
You may want to plug it in to give it a charge first. To power off, Press up
on the Power Switch for 3 seconds. The message “see you” will be displayed and
the unit will power down.
Getting right to recording!
The unit powers on in Recorder mode, where you can record and playback your
voice.
Press Record to record your voice! Press Play/Pause while recording to stop
recording temporarily, then press Play/Pause again to resume. When you press
Stop, the recording ends.
The device will now enter Recording Playback mode, with this last recording
selected. Press Play to hear the recording you just made.
Use the REW and FF buttons to select other past recordings for playback.
The track number will change on the bottom of the display. Press and hold the
REW and FF buttons to scan forward and backward in the recording by 5 seconds
at a time.
Press Play/Pause to play and pause the recording play back. Use the Volume
keys on the lower left at any time to change the volume.
Remember, pressing the Record button at anytime will start a new recording
from any menu of this device (unless it is already recording).
RECORDING MENU AND FEATURES
When the unit says it is in recorder mode (with the microphone picture on the previous page),press Menu (M) to access the recording menu options. Use REW and FF to move up and down in the menu and press Menu (M) to select an option. Press Stop to go back in the menu.
Recorder Mode Menu Options
Recording Library – This brings up a screen where you can select a
recorded memo for playback.
When a recording is selected, the device will enter recording play back mode
as seen on the previous page.
Recording Format – Select whether to Record in MP3 or WAV. MP3 takes up
less space on the device.
Set rec bitrate – You can set the recording quality here. Higher bit
rates may sound slightly better but take up more space on your device. Lower
bitrates may sound more grainy but take up less space. In most cases, the
default setting is fine and you will not need to change this.
Record Subsection – Limit the recording time to 30, 60, 90 or 120
minutes. By default, there is no limit.
Gain Input Section- This sets the level (sensitivity) of the microphone
from 1 to 6. Usually, the default (level 4) will be ok. Set it lower if
recordings are loud and distorted.
VAR mode – Automatic Voice Recording. When enabled, voice recording will
automatically pause and resume based on whether sound is heard through the
microphone. So, if you are speaking for a while and then stop, the recorder
will pause and not record the silence. As you begin speaking again, recording
resumes. This way, the resulting recording does not have any gaps from when
you stopped speaking. So can also set the sensitivity here. Usually, the
default is best, but you may have to adjust it in noisier environments so that
it stops recording when you stop talking.
Monitor Setting – When set to ON, you will hear your voice through the
headphones while recording.
Scheduled Recording – Set a specific time and day for the unit to wake up
and automatically start recording.
Setting for Recording Playback Mode
The menu options for recording playback mode are different from Record mode.
To access the recording playback options, long-press the menu button, or press
Stop and then Menu (M) if a recording is playing. Use REW/FF to move up and
down in the menu and press Menu (M) to select.
Press Stop to go back in the menu.
Play Mode – Repeat, Shuffle, etc.
Repeat Settings – Select how many times to repeat if the repeat mode is
on.
Equalizer – Select an EQ preset (e.g. Jazz, Rock)to enhance or diminish
treble, bass, and midrange frequencies.
Variable Speed – Increase or Decrease the speed of play back. This will
play your recordings faster but will not affect the pitch or have the
“chipmunk” effect.
Bookmarks – Each recording can have its own book marks. You can set a book
mark for the current recording time here, or jump to a book mark that was
previously made for this recording. For example, if you are listening to a
3-hour recording and want to make a book mark at 1hr 15min, press and hold the
menu key during playback and set a book mark in this menu.
Delete One – Delete one recording
Delete All – Delete multiple recordings
A - > B repeat mode While the unit is playing a recording, the menu
button can be used to select A -> B playback looping. If you press Menu (M)
once, “A” is displayed and the current time of the track is set “A”. If you
press it a second time the end point is set, the player will now loop playback
between A and B, displaying “A -> B” on the screen. Pressing Menu (M) once
again will reset the A -> B point and begin normal playback again.
MUSIC PLAYER MODE
To access the Music player mode, go to the main menu screen (press stop a few times if necessary) and use the REW/FF buttons to select Music.
This is the mode where you play all of the music that is loaded on the device.
From Music Player mode, Press Menu (M) To access your music library.
Use the REW/FF buttons to highlight a menu option and press the Menu button to
select it. You can exit or go back in the menu at any time by pressing the
Stop button on the other side of the device. If music is playing, you’ll need
to press stop before the menu can be accessed.
From this menu, you can select whether to play all songs, play by artist,
album, or genre. You can also “refresh playlist” after new music is copied
from your computer so the player can see it.
CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER
You can transfer music or voice recordings to and from your PC by connecting a micro-USB cable to the unit and then to a PC. It will display as a drive letter or volume with the Folders “MUSIC” and “RECORD”. Here, you can organize and delete files, or transfer files between your PC and the device.
