DETAILED SAFETY RULES
General
- Before starting installation, work, repair, maintenance or accessory change, or when working near pneumatic tool, consider many hazards, read and understand the safety instructions. Failing to follow the actions above may cause serious body injuries.
- Only qualified and trained personnel can perform installation and adjustment of pneumatic tools.
- Do not modify the pneumatic tool. Modifications can have impact on efficiency and safety level, and increase risks for the tool operator.
- Do not throw away the safety manual, hand it over to the tool operator.
- Do not use the pneumatic tool if it is damaged.
- Inspect the tool periodically for visible symptoms, as required by ISO 11148. Employer or user should contact the manufacturer for replacement of the rating plate each time when it is necessary.
Projectile hazards
- Damage to the workpiece, accessories or even an insertion tool can cause parts to be ejected at high speed.
- Always wear impact-resistant eye protection. The degree of protection should be selected depending on the work performed.
- Make sure the workpiece is securely fastened.
- Wear a safety helmet when working above head level.
- The risk to bystanders should also be considered.
Entanglement hazards
- Choking, scalping and /or lacerations can occur if loose clothing, personal jewellery, neck wear, hair or gloves are not kept away from the tool and it’s accessories.
Operating hazards
- Using the tool may expose the operator’s hands to hazards such as crushing, impact, cutting off, abrasion and heat. Wear suitable gloves to protect your hands.
- The operator and maintenance staff should be physically able to handle the size, weight and power of the tool.
- Hold the tool correctly. Be prepared to resist normal or unexpected movements and keep both hands available.
- Keep your feet balanced and securely positioned.
- Release pressure on the start and stop device in the event of a power outage.
- Only use lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.
- Use protective goggles, it is recommended to use fitted gloves and protective clothing.
- Check the condition of the Velcro disc before each use.
- Avoid direct contact with moving parts of the device to prevent pinching, cutting hands or other parts of the body.
- Wear suitable gloves to protect your hands.
- Never start the machine without the abrasive attached.
- There is a risk of electrostatic discharge when used on plastics or other non-conductive materials. A potentially explosive atmosphere can be caused by grinding dust or fumes.
- Always use a dust removal or attenuation system appropriate for the material being processed.
Dust and fume hazards
- Dust and fumes generated when using sanders and polishers can cause ill health (for example cancer, birth defects, asthma and/or dermatitis). Risk assessment and implementation of appropriate controls for these hazards are essential.
- Risk assessment should include dust created by the use of the tool and the potential for disturbing existing dust.
- Operate and maintain the sander or polisher as recommended in these instructions, to minimize dust or fume emissions.
- Direct the exhaust so as to minimize disturbance of dust in a dustfilled environment.
- Where dust or fumes are created, the priority shall be to control them at the point of emission.
- All integral features or accessories for the collection, extraction or suppression of airborne dust or fumes should be correctly used and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Select, maintain and replace the consumable / inserted tool as recommended in the instruction handbook, to prevent an unnecessary increase in dust or fumes.
- Use respiratory protection in accordance with employer’s instructions and as required by occupational health and safety regulations.
Noise hazards
- Exposure, unprotected, to high levels of noise can cause permanent and irreversible hearing loss and other problems such as tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, whistling or buzzing in the ears). Risk assessment and the implementation of appropriate control measures in relation to these threats are necessary.
- Appropriate controls to reduce the risk may include actions such as damping materials to prevent the workpiece from ringing.
- Use ear protection in accordance with the employer’s instructions and in accordance with hygiene and safety requirements.
- Operation and maintenance of the pneumatic tool should be carried out according to the instructions in the operating manual, to avoid unnecessary increase in noise level.
- Select, maintain and replace worn tools inserted as recommended in the operating instructions. This will avoid unnecessary noise increases.
- If the pneumatic tool has a silencer, always make sure it is mounted correctly when using the tool.
Vibration hazards
- Exposure to vibration can cause permanent nerve damage and blood supply to your arms and shoulders.
- Dress warmly when working at low temperatures and keep your hands warm and dry.
- If numbness, tingling, pain or whitening of the skin in the fingers and hands occurs, stop using the pneumatic tool, then inform the employer and consult a doctor.
- Operation and maintenance of the pneumatic tool according to the instructions in the operating manual will avoid unnecessary increase in vibration.
- Select, maintain and replace consumables / tools inserted as recommended in the manual to prevent any unnecessary increase in vibration.
- Hold the tool with a light, but firm grip, taking into account the reaction forces required, because the risk of vibration is usually greater when the gripping force is higher
Additional safety instructions for pneumatic tools
- Pressurized air can cause serious injury.
- Always cut off the air supply, empty the hose of air pressure and disconnect the tool from the air supply when: it is not used, before changing accessories or carrying out repairs.
- Never direct the air at yourself or anyone else.
- Hitting the hose may cause serious injury.
- Always check for damaged or loose hoses and fittings.
- Cold air should be directed away from hands.
- Whenever universal screw connections (claw connections) are used, safety pins and couplings must be used to prevent damage to the connections between the hoses and between the hose and the tool.
- Do not exceed the maximum air pressure stated for the tool.
- Never carry the tool by the hose.

DESCRIPTION
Handheld pneumatic tool designed for grinding and polishing surfaces of wood, metal, plastic and similar materials using sandpaper with the appropriate gradation. The areas of use of the grinder are the performance of renovation and construction works and any work in the field of independent amateur activity (DIY).
AIR SUPPLY
An example of a pneumatic supply system is shown in Fig. B. The operating pressure should be a maximum of 10,5 bar. Using a higher operating pressure can damage the equipment and poses a risk to the operator.
The air supplied to the device must be clean and dry. The pneumatic system
should be drained before connection. Drain the system regularly and check the
condition of the filter. The device should be used in conjunction with the
lubricator built into the system.
The sander is connected to the system with a 1/4 ”connection. The minimum
internal diameter of the pneumatic hose is 3/8 ” (10 mm). The installation
should include a visible and accessible safety switch.
OPERATION
Select a sanding disc with the correct gradation. The grinder is designed to
work with discs with a diameter of 150 mm. Attach the sanding disc to the pad
with Velcro. Make sure the disc is properly attached. Connect the grinder to
the pneumatic system.
The sander is started by pressing the lever. Before starting the grinding, it
is recommended to run the sander without contact with the workpiece to make
sure that the disc is properly attached. Place the grinder on the workpiece so
that the pressure of the disc is even. After pressing the lever, the grinder
should be driven slowly and smoothly, with constant pressure, so that the
paths marked by the rotating disc overlap – this will ensure even grinding on
the entire surface. The grinding intensity can be controlled by increasing or
decreasing the contact pressure. You may need to increase the pressure on
harder surfaces. After sanding is complete, raise the sander before turning it
off.
Take particular care when sanding around edges and irregularities. There is a
greater risk of getting caught in these places, which can lead to faster wear
of the sanding disc, as well as kick-up and tearing the sander out of the
operator’s hands. Always wear the necessary personal protective equipment,
including respiratory protection.
Only sanding discs with a diameter of 150 mm should be used. Do not use worn
or torn discs. They require the use of too much pressure, and also increase
the risk of catching, throwing, etc., negatively affecting work safety.
Before replacing the abrasive discs or any elements of the grinder, as well as
before any maintenance operations, it is absolutely necessary to disconnect
the tool from the air source. The sander should only be connected to the
pneumatic system during operation.
TROUBLESHOOTING
In addition to damage or wear of the device, other factors such as poor condition of the pneumatic system (damage, blockage, leakage or moisture) may also have a negative impact on the effectiveness of work. Problems may also be caused by contamination of the device with excess dust and abrasion products. For this reason, it is important to keep the device clean.
MAINTENANCE AND STORING
In order to extend the life of the tool, it should be cleaned regularly. Each
time after work, the sander should be cleaned by wiping with a dry cloth. Do
not use solvents or agents that could cause corrosion of device components.
The mechanism should be lubricated with a lubricator, which is part of the
pneumatic supply system. The oil level in the lubricator should be checked
regularly and topped up if necessary. In the absence of a lubricator, direct
lubrication is possible by applying a few drops of pneumatic oil to the air
inlet before starting the unit. After lubricating the machine, oil droplets
may escape from the air outlet for the first few seconds. Then it is necessary
to temporarily protect it with, for example, a towel. Only pneumatic oils
should be used to lubricate the mechanism. Using other types of oil or not
lubricating the mechanism will shorten the life and damage the tool. Any
repair activities should be performed only by authorized persons through an
authorized service point.

Information on noise and vibration
The level of noise emitted by the device is described by: the level of the emitted sound pressure LpA and the sound power level LwA(where K is the measurement uncertainty). The vibrations emitted by the device are described by the value of the vibration acceleration ah (where K is the measurement uncertainty).
The following information: emitted sound pressure level LpA, sound power level LwA and vibration acceleration ah were measured in accordance with EN 628411-1. The given vibration level ah can be used to compare devices and for a preliminary assessment of vibration exposure.
The stated vibration level is representative only for the basic use of the device. If the machine is used for different applications or with different working tools, the vibration level may change. The higher level of vibrations will be influenced by insufficient or too rare maintenance of the device. The reasons given above may result in an increased exposure to vibration during the entire period of operation.
To accurately estimate exposure to vibration, consider periods when the equipment is turned off or when it is turned on but not in use. After all factors have been carefully assessed, the overall vibration exposure may be significantly lower.
In order to protect the user against the effects of vibrations, additional safety measures should be implemented, such as: periodic maintenance of the device and working tools, protection of the appropriate temperature of hands and proper organization of work.
ENVIROMENTAL PROTECTION
Do not dispose of products with household wastes. They should be utilised in proper plants. Unrecycled equipment constitutes a potential risk for environment and human health.
