TRANE Tracer Summit Rover Software

You can register both Tracer Summit™ and Rover™ software online.
Note: Tracer Summit software must be registered within 30 days from installation. However, you can use the software in demo mode for up to 30 days. After the demo period is over, you must register the software to continue to use it. Rover Service Tool software must be registered immediately.

Registering the software

To register either Tracer Summit or Rover software, each PC workstation requires a unique authorization code that is found on the Rover product USB flash drive or the Tracer Summit compact disk (CD) case.
Note: The product USB flash drive should only be used to install the Rover software.

Registering Online

Before you begin, make sure you have the unique authorization code.
To register online:

  1. Install the Trane Controls software.
Note: On the same PC, make sure that the Internet connection is active. (To register from another PC, refer to the following the note under Step 5.)

  2. Start the software you want to register.

  3. In the Tracer Summit Welcome dialog box, click the Register Now button. For Rover, click the Registration button, then click the Register Additional Options button.

  4. Select the option to register over the Internet, then click Next.

  5. Select Register this PC, then click Next and continue as instructed at the Trane Product Registration Web site.

Only qualified personnel should install and service the equipment. The installation, starting up, and servicing of heating, ventilating, and air- conditioning equipment can be hazardous and requires specific knowledge and training. Improperly installed, adjusted or altered equipment by an unqualified person could result in death or serious injury. When working on the equipment, observe all precautions in the literature and on the tags, stickers, and labels that are attached to the equipment.

Note: To register from a different PC, first obtain the locking code from the PC to be registered.
From a PC with an Internet connection, go to the Web site www.basregistration.trane.com and follow the online instructions. Copy the license code generated at the Web site to the PC with the software to be registered.

In the Registered Options Dialog box, an X appears in front of each registered option. In Rover:

When to Re-register

You must re-register the software when you:

  • Replace an existing PC workstation with a new one
  • Upgrade the PC operating system
  • Replace the PC workstation hard drive

The authorization code must be reset before you can re-register the software. Contact the local Trane office to have the authorization code reset.
Note: Tracer Summit software does not need to be re-registered after uninstalling and then reinstalling it. The registration remains valid because the registration information is stored separately on the hard drive and is not removed during the uninstall

Registration Codes

For or Tracer Summit Version 13 and higher, the registration system is based on three codes:

  • Authorization code: the software serial number found on the product USB flash drive. This code is required for each PC workstation to obtain future upgrades and customer support. When upgrading from Tracer Summit Version 13 and higher, use the authorization code on the product CD case. When upgrading an earlier version and up to Version 12, use the software serial number. Both codes start with an E.
  • Locking code: a number unique to the PC. You can find it on the registration screens or by clicking About Tracer Summit on the Help menu.
  • License code: a unique number based on the locking code and the authorization code. For Version 12 and earlier, it was called the registration number. This code is automatically generated during the registration process.
Keep the authorization code. It is required for upgrades and customer service support. The first five digits of the authorization code indicates the type of software package. The following table lists software packages and corresponding authorization codes.
