Cleaning and Maintenance:
Regular cleaning and maintenance of the Ameda Pearl Electric Breast Pump and
the HygeniKit Milk Collection Kit is essential to ensure optimal performance
and hygiene.
Cleaning the Ameda Pearl Electric Breast Pump:
- After each pumping session, turn off the pump and wipe it with a clean, damp cloth.
- Do not wash the tubing adapter, silicone tubing, or adapter cap as they do not come into contact with milk during pumping.
Cleaning the Ameda HygeniKit:
- Rinse any milk from the kit parts with cool water.
- Hand wash the parts with warm, soapy water. Avoid inserting anything into the valve or diaphragm while cleaning.
- Rinse the parts well with warm, clean water.
- Air-dry the cleaned parts thoroughly on a clean surface.
Breast Pump Valve and Diaphragm Check:
Inspect the valves and diaphragms for tears or holes. Replace any damaged
valves and diaphragms before pumping. It is recommended to replace valves
every 8-12 weeks and diaphragms every 4-6 weeks for optimal performance.
Finding Your Best Fit:
A proper fit of the breast flange is crucial for comfort and efficient
pumping. Follow the guidelines below to determine the correct fit:
Good Fit:
- During pumping, the nipple should move freely in the breast flange tunnel.
- You should see space around the nipple, and not much areola should be drawn into the tunnel.
Too Small:
- During pumping, the nipple may rub against the sides of the tunnel due to a tight fit.
Too Large:
- During pumping, the areola may be drawn into the flange and rub against the side of the tunnel, indicating a loose fit.
GETTING STARTED:
Before first use, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching
breast pump, kit and breasts.

IMPORTANT:
Only use an Ameda HygeniKit Milk Collection Kit.
How To Use
- If kit is sterile, use preassembled kit immediately.
- If not sterile, clean, sanitize and assemble the kit (follow cleaning instructions on the back of this card).
- First connect one end of the power adapter to the back of the pump, then the other end to an electrical outlet.
- Insert tubing adapter firmly into port under gray flap on front of pump.
- If not double pumping, REMOVE ONE TUBE and insert the attached plug into the unused port of the adapter.
- Center flange on breast and press firmly to create a tight seal. (see back of card for proper fit).
- Push power button.
- Pump starts in Stimulation Mode.
- Adjust Stimulation Suction
- Adjust the Stimulation Suction setting gradually to your preferred comfort level (maximum 6).
- Change Mode
- Once your milk starts to flow using the STIMULATION MODE, press the Mode (M) button to switch into Expression Mode.
- Adjust Expression Suction Level
- Adjust the Expression Suction setting gradually to your preferred comfort level. (maximum 12).
- Adjust Speed
- Adjust the speed in Expression Mode to your preferred comfort level (maximum 6).
- End Pumping Session
- When finished pumping, press power button to turn off.
Cleaning the Ameda Pearl Electric Breast Pump
For At-Home/End Users:
- After each pumping, turn pump OFF.
- Wipe with clean, damp cloth.
For Hospital/Rental Stations:
Turn pump OFF. Clean between users wearing disposable gloves. Use a hospital
approved antibacterial cleaner such as CaviCide®, CaviWipes®, or PDI® Sani-
Cloth® AF3.
Cleaning the Ameda HygieniKit
IMPORTANT:
Do Not Wash Tubing Adapter, Silicone Tubing, Adapter Cap. They do not contact
milk during pumping.
- RINSE any milk from kit parts with cool water.
- Hand WASH parts with warm, soapy water. Do not insert anything into valve or diaphragm while cleaning.
- RINSE well with warm, clean water.
- Air-dry thoroughly on a clean surface.
Breast Pump Valve and Diaphragm Check

Good Fit
During pumping, nipple moves freely in the breast flange tunnel. You see space
around the nipple. Not much areola is drawn into the tunnel.
Too Small
During pumping, nipple rubs against the sides of the tunnel.
Too Large
During pumping, areola is drawn into the flange and may rub against the side
of the tunnel.
