Ameda N Protect 6oz Breast Milk Storage Bags

Product Information

The Pump`N ProtectTM is a breast milk storage system designed to allow mothers to pump directly into milk storage bags without the risk of spilling precious pumped milk. The system includes flange adapters that are compatible with all Ameda breast pump flanges and some other brand pumps. The adapters have universal bottle threads and can be securely attached to the breast flanges.

Note that other brands of breast pumps may not function optimally when used with an open style collection container such as a storage bag. If you experience a drop in vacuum levels, it is recommended to discontinue using the adapter option and pump into the container supplied with your breast pump. After pumping, the breast milk can be transferred to the Ameda Pump`N Protect Breast Milk Storage Bags.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before pumping or handling breast milk, wash your hands well with soap and water.

  2. Getting Started:

    • If single pumping, remove one bag. If double pumping, remove
      two bags.

    • Write your baby’s or your name and date of pumping on the bag(s).

    • Attach the adapter to the breast flange by twisting the top of the adapter into the bottom of the flange.

    • Open the top of the milk storage bag and insert the adapter into the bag with the pegs facing the sides of the bag.

    • Twist the pegs to align them with the bag slots and insert them into the slots.

    • Position the opening of the adapter slightly below the zip seal closure of the storage bag.

    • Pinch the sides of the bag closed around the flange adapter and gently pull at the bottom to ensure secure attachment. Repeat with the other flange if double pumping.

  3. You are now ready to pump directly into the Pump N Protect Breast Milk Storage Bags. Pump as you would normally until the bags are full (6oz/180mL) or until you have finished pumping.

  4. If double pumping, secure one flange to your body with your forearm while removing the other flange from your breast with the same hand. Carefully remove the bag with your opposite hand by unhooking the slots of the bag from the adapter. Set the flange down and immediately seal the zip seal of the bag to prevent spills. Repeat on the other side.

  5. To seal the bag:

    • To prevent freezer burn, remove as much air from the storage bag as possible.
    • Place your middle and index fingers on opposite sides of the bag and gently pinch the bag closed as close as possible to the top of the milk.
    • Slide your fingers upward to remove the air from the bag. When reaching the double zip seal at the top, remove your fingers and pinch the zip seal closed completely.
  6. To transfer milk to the Pump`N Protect Milk Storage Bag:

    • Open the top of the Pump’N Protect Breast Milk Storage Bag.
    • Squeeze the zip seal at the outer edge with your thumb and forefinger to open the mouth of the bag.
    • While holding the bag securely, pour freshly expressed milk into the bag. Do not fill beyond the 6oz/180mL mark to allow for safe closure and normal expansion during freezing.

While holding the bag securely, pour freshly expressed milk into the bag. Do not fill beyond the 6oz/180mL mark to allow for safe closure and normal expansion during freezing.

Dispensing Milk from the Pump‘N Protect Bag
When feeding stored breast milk, you will want to prepare only what your baby will eat at a single feeding. It is a good idea to store your milk in amounts that your baby typically eats. If you have more milk in the storage bag than is required for a single feeding, you may
reseal the remainder of the breast milk in the bag for the next feeding. The remainder of the breast milk should be stored according to the below milk storage guidelines. Any milk remaining in a bottle after a feeding should not be kept and fed at the next feeding.

Pouring Milk
Ameda Pump‘N Protect Breast Milk Storage Bags have been designed to help easily dispense breast milk, reducing the chance for spillage.
